Set among 28 acres of grounds in Kingscote Park in the Cotswold, Matara has a tranquil, ethereal energy. This private estate in the Tay Valley makes beautifully bespoke weddings. The Thyme Roundhouse at Errichel is great location for a small wedding, with a warm, farmhouse atmosphere and a cosy whisky snug library. As it’s only able to host 40 guests, their chef will work with you to create a personal menu so you have a day that’s every bit as unique as you are as a couple.
24. Alladale Wilderness Reserve – Ardgay, Sutherland

26. The House at No. 131 – Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
In the heart of the Cheltenham is this beautiful Georgian townhouse with just eight individually-designed bedrooms. Hosting a maximum of 50 guests, No. 131 is the perfect spot if your guest list is considerably smaller than that. Stunningly designed, intimate and elegant, you can exchange vows in the lounge and hire out a private dining room for your closest friends and family, or even hire the whole house for exclusive use.
27. Fox & Hounds Country Hotel and Treetops Treehouse – Chulmleigh, Devon
While this Devon hotel has lots of cute spots to say ‘I do’, it’s the Treetops treehouse which we’re obsessed with. Hosting weddings of up to just 10 people (including the couple), it’s intimate, unusual and fantastic for photos. The newlyweds can then stay in the treehouse for a minimoon escape; it has it’s own log-burning fire in the lounge and copper bath in the master suite. 28. The Frogmill – Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
There are a number of areas which will be exclusively yours if you choose to hold your small and intimate wedding at The Frogmill. Perhaps the most jaw-dropping is The Mill Room: a chandelier-adorned reception space with vault ceilings and ornate décor. Choose from the elegant hotel or – our favourite spot – the Wedding Pavilion at the King’s Croft Hotel for your big day.
