How far in advance should you look at wedding venues? How do I choose a wedding venue? Start by thinking about the location of your wedding venue. Does the venue have the capacity to fit all your guests, is there parking for everyone, do they offer accommodation, etc? Do their prices fit your overall budget? Do their wedding packages cover everything you need? Consider your wedding day style. Does the venue work with the theme or style you have in mind for your wedding? The right wedding venue will bring your wedding vision to life.

What are the venue's limitations? Every venue sets their own rules and every wedding has its own unique needs. Don't leave out any details when explaining your vision for your wedding. The venue may have certain limitations that you may need to consider before booking, such as noise or time limitations, extra fees that aren't included in the total booking price, not allowing outside suppliers or catering, and even decoration limitations.

What kind of entertainment is or isn't allowed? Some venues may limit the use of fireworks, confetti or other forms of entertainment and extras that may form part of your wedding plan. That's why it's so crucial to go over every detail with your potential venue before signing. You'll also want to ask if you can bring your own entertainment, as the venue may work with certain musicians, DJs and entertainers.

Is there a special place where the couple can get ready separately? Depending on your plans, you might want to get ready at the venue and having a special room just for you is certainly a bonus. When you visit the venue be sure to view these rooms and if you want photos taken, be sure that it is well-lit. There should be enough space for you, your makeup artist or hair stylist, a friend or two and the photographer.

Who will be the point of contact? Having a good relationship with your venue's person of contact is paramount. They will be able to answer your last minute questions, resolve any doubts and help make the wedding run smoothly. You should have their contact information and be able to reach them easily before you book your venue to ensure good communication from the start.

Is the venue licensed for civil ceremonies? If you'd like to celebrate your ceremony at the same venue, this question is imperative. If they aren't licensed, then you'll have to look for an additional venue to celebrate the ceremony. If that's the case, be sure to update your wedding budget with additional venue fees and possibly transportation for your guests.
