Smeetham Hall Barn privately owned, 16th century wedding venue just outside of Sudbury Suffolk on the Suffolk/Essex boarder.
Victoria and Sophie will be your main contacts from the moment you first step into the barn until after your wedding,Tom is always around too, he has been running the bar for over 13 years now and now often in the garden pruning the roses!
You have access to the barn the day before your wedding to set up with as many or as few people as you wish. We are offer a Venue Hire price which includes the heating, fairy lights, tables, chairs and a personal wedding co-ordinator for your "wedding journey." You would choose from our two trusted caterers who would give you a bespoke quote based on what you requirements are. You have access to the barn the day before your wedding until midnight on your wedding day. We do also offer bespoke packages which include your food which we can discuss when you have visited the barn.
Our barn is the perfect setting for small intimate weddings to the larger ones, we can accomadate up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast and up to 200 in the evening. The barn itself has high vaulted ceiling, exposed timber beams, and vintage chandeliers. We have fixed fairy lights on the back wall and around the beams, these are included in the hire price. We also have a marquee which is attached to the barn via a lobby just in case the weather is not kind and the drink's reception needs to be held inside or for winter weddings. It has beautiful panoramic sides out to our courtyard with a covered seated area with festoons.
BYO alcohol and soft drinks into the venue the day before your wedding, we charge a flat service fee of £15 per daytime adult guest and £5 per child (age 2-12 years old) Our bar opens at local pub prices after your wedding meal.
We do not have accomadation on site, but we have a lot of very good options all within 10 min drive.

The perfect wedding venue!
We had such an incredible wedding day at Smeetham Hall Barn and would definitely recommend it 10/10.
We loved the venue from the first time we visited and we also liked the personal approach and flexibility from the get go (including being able to bring in our own alcohol for the reception drinks and wedding breakfast).
We were lucky enough to have our ceremony outside by the pond and it was a perfect day for us and our guests. The grounds are beautiful and so many guests commented on how much they liked the venue. We had so many great photo opportunities with the photographer too which we really enjoyed with our bridal party and family.
A BIG thank you to Sophie and Victoria for all their hard work and help. Sophie supported us with the planning from the beginning and was always there to answer our questions. Communication was great throughout and everything around the package and payments was clear and transparent from the start, which we appreciated.
They also coordinated with Splinters caterers and communicated with all the other suppliers when they arrived on the day. It meant we didn't have to worry about any of this.
On the wedding day Sophie and Victoria were superb! They kept me calm, everything ran smoothly and to plan. We could just enjoy our big day without worrying about anything at all. Tom also did a great job behind the bar and it was quick to get a drink, considering there were over 150 guests in the evening.

An amazing wedding day
Smeetham Hall Barn is the perfect wedding venue. We both fell in love with it as soon as we stepped onto the driveway. Victoria & Sophie are the absolute dream team to support you on your wedding day. They were so helpful and thoughtful that the day went off without an issue. They are incredibly quick to respond and know everything you need to know about the venue. Pair that with the amazing team at Splinters, and you really cannot ask for more.

WOW What a venue
Smeetham hall is amazing.
We fell in love with this venue the moment we see it and had to book it for our wedding.
The staff are incredible, and will bend over backwards to help make your wedding a dream come true.
The barn and grounds are beautiful and very well looked after.
We booked a package wedding with smeetham so it included our wedding breakfast catering which by the way was also outstanding 👌🏻.
Smeetham hall is a family run venue and this immediately makes it feel more personal and less like a commercialised wedding.

A Perfect Day!
From the moment we walked into Smeetham Hall Barn we knew it was the place we wanted to get married. Not only is it a stunning venue but Sophie and Victoria’s energy perfectly matched ours and we felt right at home.
Every question we had leading up to the wedding was answered quickly by Sophie and she reassured us at every step. We couldn’t have asked for more.
Once we got to the day, everything ran completely smoothly. It was a warm day but nothing was too much trouble and everything was done to make us as comfortable as possible.
The ceremony was out on the lawn and absolutely beautiful. The whole venue looked stunning. (It doesn’t need much in the way of decor, it speaks for itself!)
Zoe and Tom took over event coordination in the evening and we can’t sing their praises highly enough. They were so accommodating of the New Orleans street band we booked and the bar was fully stocked for our guests.

The Wedding Venue of Our Dreams
We fell in love with Smeetham Hall Barn the first time we visited. It felt like we were being welcomed into a family. Victoria and Sophie were wonderful coordinators both during the planning phase and on the day itself. We felt very well supported, they replied promptly to our questions and are always calm and professional. The venue itself is stunning. It feels like stepping into a storybook when you drive past the lake and up to the barn. There are endless spaces for guests to enjoy, from the main barn and marquee to the front lawn and courtyard. We loved the no corkage, as this gave us flexibility with which drinks we wanted to bring. The catering company Splinters we're fantastic , the waiting staff were very attentive and there were numerous food options, all of them delicious. The facilities are also excellent. There is ample parking, clean and pretty bathrooms with an accessible loo too, and even a bridal room for getting ready pre-ceremony. We received a list of recommended suppliers and chose our florist, photographer, Ceilidh band, accessories and lighting from this list. We were thrilled with every single vendor. Our photographer had the best day finding beautiful parts of the venue to photograph and we have so many wonderful photos that we'll cherish forever. We couldn't have asked for anything more from Smeetham or Victoria and Sophie. Simply the best day and we're so grateful we chose Smeetham. We strongly recommend Smeetham to anyone wanting an exclusive venue with character, charm and warm, welcoming owners.

Everything We Dreamed Of and More
We honestly couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding venue than Smeetham Hall Barn. From the very beginning, the whole team were so supportive, organised and genuinely invested in making our day everything we’d dreamed of.
A huge shoutout to Sophie, Victoria and Tom for all of their hard work, support and effort in the lead up to the wedding, as well as everything they did behind the scenes on the day itself. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and knowing everything was in such safe hands allowed us to completely relax and enjoy every moment.

A beautiful venue with an incredible team!
When we first found Smeetham Hall Barn, we immediately fell in love with it and its beauty. The barn is absolutely gorgeous and provided the perfect setting for our wedding! Everything felt so naturally special from the moment we saw it. We initially met with Victoria to show us around and we loved that it would be a small team (herself, Sophie and Tom) who would be helping us plan and run the day! This gave the whole experience such a personal and thoughtful touch throughout.

The most magical night of our lives
First and foremost, Smeetham Hall Barn is absolutely stunning. It is truly a magical space that took our breath away the moment we arrived. Five stars!🌟
The team at Smeetham Hall are amazing!! The whole planning process was made so much easier with their help, and always being on hand to answer any questions we had - however big or small. Sophie and Victoria were on hand to make sure our day ran smoothly and it boy did it! Tom’s espresso martinis went down such a treat at the bar too! They had everything covered so we could sit back and enjoy! We couldn’t have asked for a better day and that is all thanks to everyone at Smeetham. Multiple guests commented that it was the best wedding venue they’ve ever been to - and we would have to agree.

Best day of our life!
There would be no words that could express how truly wonderful it was to celebrate our marriage at Smeethan Hall. It was absolutely perfect. I am so emotional writing this as it was just so beautiful..Sophie was wonderful and the rest of the family were so welcoming. Sophie made sure everything ran smoothly and was one step ahead of everything at all times. We had endless comments on how beautiful the venue was. Thank you so much for making our dreams and vision come true.
