We got married there in March 2019 and hired Kingscote House for the weekend too. Our guests were able to fully explore the gardens and grounds, and everyone felt relaxed and at home there. Holly looked after us perefctly and all the staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Our wedding day went like a dream, the whole place was buzzing with love and light (the sunshine helped!). It's the perfect backdrop for a more alternative ceremony, and you don't have to do much to make it personal to you. The sun was shining and we were able to create our dream outdoor ceremony in the beautiful courtyard. Matara is picturesque, wherever you look there's hidden beauty and the whole venue creates the most wonderful atmosphere. Our wedding coordinator Holly was fantastic and the team were amazing on the day and all guests were so impressed with the quality of service. The food was exceptional, it was delicious and guests are still talking about it weeks after. I highly recommend this venue. We also stayed two night in house and were joined by friends and family which made the whole experience even more special and memorable. From all the pre-planning beforehand to the fine details on the day itself- everything went perfectly and we could not have asked for anything more. In particular your calm and professional manner on the day was really appreciated, especially with the rainy weather in the morning and not knowing where to have the ceremony until the last minute... it turned out that having it in the courtyard was even better than on the lawn! Many of our family and a few guests have paid compliments to you specifically, and commented on how quick you were to answer queries and deal with issues on the day; this really helped keep everyone calm and made the whole day run smoothly. All the little details were not missed, every glass was topped up and a table even asked for extra sauce for their meal I'm told which they really appreciated. The tea ceremony, cake set up, finger print tree area, table plans were all as hoped- just brilliant! It is peaceful, elegant and beautiful. Olivia and Holly are amazing - Olivia was our wedding coordinator, she always welcomed us like friends, answered every question no matter how small or silly helpfully and kindly I’m a calm manner. Everything was done as Olivia said it would be taking any stress away, from making sure the button holes were on correctly to making sure the food was ready in time with our running behind schedule. The food was amazing, our guests commented that it was the best food they had at a wedding. Not one guest would have guessed he whole menu had been done gluten free at our request. The waiting staff were also very attentive, one guest mentioned that they had never been so well cared for and they had wanted for not one thing. Matara encourage creativity and you don’t just choose your colour theme as is the way with so many venues. We truly had the most amazing day that it almost doesn’t feel real and so much of that was down to the venue and it’s wonderful staff. The day went OK with hardly any problems apart from not knowing what to do as Olivia did not tell the bridal party anything, it was assumed you know. As for the evening the lady Jean who was suppose to be there to make sure the evening was safe and ran smoothly was very rude and ruined my whole evening do. Even guest commented on her rudeness. She damaged my property and did not care about the evening at all. I even had to ask for a cake knife to which she responded don't you have one. Additionally the evening staff thought it was OK to without my permission to use the photo booth even though they were suppose to be working. After the wedding my flowers and my property was dumped in a crate. The flowers were not put in water (so dead when I got them) and things were damaged as there was no care to how they were put away. Some of my things had even be thrown out (photo booth pictures) Additionally I noticed that a wedding card was missing which had money in. When I complained to the Matara Centre after numerous emails they did a slight apology and dismissed my complaint with excuses.
