Set amidst the scenic splendour of Bellahouston Park, House For An Art Lover is a unique wedding venue located in Glasgow, Scotland. This supremely stylish setting takes its inspiration from the architectural designs of leading Art Nouveau artist and architecture Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Developed from original designs dating back to 1901, this distinctive space offers sleek interiors bursting with tasteful pops of colour. From the private sculpted garden to the expanses of the 169-acre park, this is an ideal setting for those with a taste for fine aesthetics and picture-worthy backdrops.

Facilities and Capacity

House For An Art Lover is a mesmerising property, offering much in the way of colourful history and pleasing visuals. On the first floor, to-be-weds have exclusive use of The Mackintosh Suite, which contains three signature spaces. The Music Room offers an extravagant setting of vibrant colors and a terrace overlooking the parkland. Here, couples can choose between two layouts to accommodate up to 80 guests for a wedding meal. The room can also be used for a ceremony of as many 110. Nearby, the Main Hall/Dining Room is a combined space with a maximum capacity of 120 for a seated dining experience. Layout options take full advantage of the Main Hall's impressive two-story space, magnified by its dark-panelling and soaring ceilings. Discerning guests can discover signature details throughout these spaces reminiscent of Mackintosh's designs. For the evening reception, the Art Lover's Bar is an ample dynamic space for 150, featuring a dancefloor, lounge bar, and staging area.

Our Perfect Wedding Day

Everything about planning our wedding with the House for an Art Lover was brilliant. Beautiful setting, fabulous staff and wonderful wedding coordinator who kept in touch and responded to any of our queries. On the day, the venue was set up so beautifully and our master of ceremonies was fantastic. It was just the most perfect day. Thanks so very much.

Beautiful venue, one room more beautiful than the next. Staff extremely helpful and make sure everything went to plan .
Only down side was due to the venue being in public park, difficult for guests to park. Perhaps that wee car park should be reserved for House for Art Lover only, as a few folks were dog walking and had parked up.

A perfect wedding

We had our wedding at House for an Art Lover on 23.09.23 and from our first visit 2 years ago we knew it was perfect for us. Every member of staff we interacted with throughout planning and on the day were fantastic, and even with a last minute change in wedding coordinator due to Emily moving job we knew everything was in place. All of our guests enjoyed the day and food. Thank you for everything you did, it was just the best day!

Great venue

The building and rooms are beautiful. The food was lovely. My only issues were a few things. For the ceremony they were going to close the doors then open them for me coming in. Which in itself isn't too important. My guests ended up going to the cafe as afterwards the drinks and canapés for the drinks reception were not ready. I heard later that some people were told they could not have the nocecco which I had asked for and during the meal almost everyone who I had said was to have non alcoholic options, including myself were given alcohol. The cake and evening rolls were late out.

Unique venue with a top-class service

The communication from Bridget and the events team was absolutely fantastic, and everything was laid out clearly and concisely. All enquiries we had, no matter how big or small were addressed quickly and kept us feeling like everything was under control, keeping us reassured and stress-free.

When we visited the house, we knew it was the right setting for our wedding day, however, we never anticipated how perfect it would be on the day. Both the gardens and interior were absolutely stunning, with no need for any additional decoration, such as flowers or wedding arches, which really helped as we were on a tight budget. Many of our guests commented on how beautiful and unique the place was which made us very pleased with our decision to have our wedding day there.

On the morning of the event, the banqueting manager, Amanda greeted me at the house and instantly put my mind at rest, quickly getting me set up and storing gifts for our wedding party, setting up music on the sound system, showing me to the oval room and providing me with a whisky to calm the nerves. There was always a staff member at hand when I needed anything throughout the day, who were very calm and willing to help with a smile, which really helped me feel welcome and valued. Many of our guests commented during the day and afterwards at how cordial the staff were, helping them with enquiries and were amazed when they went to the bar that the bar staff remembered their drinks order, that care and attention to detail is priceless.

The wedding breakfast was incredible, we had a three-course Honeyman menu with a custom gluten-free and vegan option for those with dietary requirements. Everything was really well made, looked and tasted amazing, so much so, some of our guests were telling us they felt obliged to lick the plates afterwards as the sauce on the chicken dish was so good! One of our evening guests, who is a bit of a foodie, enjoyed the hot rolls so much, he had three!

I was very surprised at the price to hire the venue for our wedding, it was very affordable and helped a lot with our overall wedding budget. We had initially visited some venues in Edinburgh that quoted twice the price and more that I would argue don't even come close to the standard and quality we got from House for an Art Lover.

I would highly recommend the venue to friends, family and colleagues in future. The whole experience has been an absolute delight with no stress at all and many of our guests have been raving since, about what a fantastic place we found to host our wedding day.

Perfect wedding venue

We couldn't recommend House for an Art Lover highly enough. Everyone we worked with went beyond their job role to make the day exactly what we wanted. Bridget was so efficient with her response time and no request was too much of an ask. All our guests commented on how well looked after they felt. The venue itself was absolutely beautiful. It made for such a calm morning knowing we were in such good hands.

Our wedding in June was so perfect

I'm writing on behalf of myself and Allison to thank you and the whole team at House for an Art Lover again for making our wedding in June so perfect - the help and support you provided to us while we planned our wedding from overseas was so much appreciated. Likewise to our Master of ceremonies on the day, he really made it so easy for us to enjoy our special day to the fullest.

We can't thank you enough; we can't imagine having had our wedding anywhere else. We've recommended HFAAL (not that anyone we speak to hasn't already heard amazing things!) to literally everyone we know who is engaged or planning a wedding. We couldn't be happier.

Truly Special

Our wedding day was wonderful and I would like to thank you, Robert, and all of your amazing colleagues for the day you gave us. So many of our guests told us they’d had the best time at our wedding; that they loved the venue, how helpful the staff were - it was truly special getting married there. It’s about a year now since we first visited, looking for the right venue for our big day. You were the first place we looked, and we knew pretty much then and there. Thank you for your help over this last year, it’s been so appreciated.

We hold such Wonderful Memories

We can't recommend the beautiful House for an Art Lover enough as a wedding venue. All of the team from the House have been great, from the moment we visited it as a potential wedding venue to the day itself.

To be honest, we didn't really entertain any other venue. We went straight to the House as we love Charles Rennie Mackintosh and loved that it was a Southside Glasgow venue. We also liked that the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening party would all be in the same place (and that there was parking available for our guests).

Throughout all our planning we have been really well supported by Hannah. She contacted us when decisions needed to be made and our emails have always been answered promptly.

The day itself was brilliant. I don’t think the House for an Art Lover organised the sun shining into the Music Room as we signed the marriage schedule, but they did everything else. From the moment we arrived we were in calm and capable hands.

The day ran smoothly from the arrival of guests and the ceremony to the wedding breakfast and the evening party. Our guests all loved and appreciated the venue and the beautiful grounds and they loved the delicious food cooked by the House chefs. The quiet room was a perfect addition for guests who needed a more low-key environment while those who wanted to, danced the night away in the cafe on the dance floor.

We hold such wonderful memories of our wedding day and we will look forward to visiting the House for an Art Lover many more times in the future.
