Facilities and Capacity
The Vines boasts a serene Cotswold setting and is situated next to the charming St Mary's Church of Black Bourton, a stunning location for your wedding ceremony. The church can accommodate up to 120 guests and has the option to hire a professional organist and a fantastic team of bell ringers. The hotel is also a five-minute drive from St Mary's Church of Bampton, where the TV series Downton Abbey was filmed, and can host a congregation of up to 250 guests. When you return to the hotel, the patio garden provides the perfect place to welcome your guests with reception drinks. During the colder months, your guests will be impressed with the venue's circular pub bar and roaring log fires. The dining room can comfortably fit between 50 and 70 people for a seated meal or up to 120 people for a buffet-style celebration. The Meadow to the rear of the hotel is also available for your festivities, providing a blank canvas you can truly make your own. The flat terrain offers the perfect space for a marquee reception or an outdoor ceremony. Amazing venue for our perfect day!
Good on the day - but wasn’t stress free
However, when we booked over a year ago we were promised by land lady that her and her husband would be there. Unfortunately the year before at a different venue the landlord didn’t renew his lease resulting our wedding to be cancelled and 1000s lost. We were chasing and chasing for information as it’s a dry hire, was told prices for hotel rooms and we were at the stage guests were wanting to book their rooms. Eventually, we were told it was under new management. A few of ours guests ended up stating in local air b and b due to them not being able to book rooms, resulting in us losing money as we had paid for exclusivity. The whole booking process was utter shambles. A £1000 security deposit was taken from our account the week before our wedding resulting the account to go into our overdraft, this was taken without our permission even when we were told earlier it wouldn’t be needed. The stress and upset all of this caused us really affected us to the point we wanted to cancel it. However, we couldn’t as we wouldn’t had for any money back and couldn’t afford another cancelled wedding.
The venue is lovely and it has been done up plus we got an amazing breakfast in our cottage for us girls and the food night before and brekkie was lovely. The staff were lovely but there seems to be issues at management level or just on how to run a hotel chain ! Unless serious changes are made, I can’t see this place running any longer for weddings.
