The most perfect venue
By Emma and Ronnie Prestwood, on 11 Apr 2018Date of Wedding - 07 Apr 2018
I do not even know where to start to explain how much we loved this venue. We had looked at a number of venues and Skylark was both affordable and picturesque, then we met Sam to discuss wedding packages and that was that we were absolutely sold.
Sam could not have done anything more, she feels like part of the family helping to organize the wedding rather than the venue owner. Sam was always available to respond to my many questions (some of which were a bit stupid) and this really meant a lot because I was planning the wedding from overseas so we could not go in and meet as much as normal couples may do.
As for the day it ran absolutely smoothly, we loved that Sam came to the church to see us in which was a nice personal touch! We really appreciated all the little things that meant so much like reminding us to eat and making us a snack box to take back to the hotel at the end of the night! Dave and Sam were always working with photographer to ensure we were able to get great shots. I really just cannot express how much of a perfect day and venue it was!
We had so many compliments on the venue, the food (especially the canapes), how stunning it was, and how amazing Sam, Dave, Jake and the team were.
We would highly recommend this venue to anyone, our day was perfect and we could not have asked for anything more.
Thank you so so so much
Lots of love Mr & Mrs Prestwood xxx
The perfect place for a wedding!

Sam and her team at Skylark Farm are just incredible! They made our day absolutely perfect. Sam is always on hand when ever you need her, whether it is for advice or asking about the little details, nothing is ever too much for her.
As for the venue, it is utterly perfect. The scenery and views are incredible and the barn filled with drapes, chandeliers and twinkly fairy lights (not forgetting the amazing dance floor) is just perfect for anyone’s wedding scene!
Not one of our guests (including ourselves) could not fault a single thing! They were all overwhelmed by the venue, the gorgeous food and the friendly staff and atmosphere!
We could never thank you enough for making our day so perfect and special ... so thank you Sam and the Skylark team!
Lots of love

Sam and her team at Skylark are absolutely one in a million! Not only is the venue beautiful, they provided flawless service throughout the day to ensure that every guest was catered for every moment of the day, and we didn't have to worry about a thing. We can't thank Sam enough for all the help she gave and putting our minds at ease every step of planning our wedding at Skylark. All of our guests commented how stunning the venue is and how everything was perfect. Thank you Sam and team for making our day everything we dreamed of and so much more!

Skylark Farm made all our dreams come true and more! From the moment we went to look at Skylark we fell in love & knew it was the venue for us ! The venue is beautiful and views are breathtaking, but the thing that made it so appealing to us was the welcome we received from Sam & Dave. Sam is approachable, friendly, down to earth and was always willing to help & answer any questions we had with a quick response. The day it's self, was everything we dreamed of! The service we received was fantastic, food was delicious, all of our guests commented on how nice the food was, service was prompt and we felt like they couldn't do enough for us and our guests. The staff paid special attention to our little guests and the children were spoilt and well looked after. A special mention to Hazel as she was fantastic on the day in making sure they were OK at all times. Thank you Hazel. There was an outside bar for our guests after our ceremony, this was something we hadn't asked for and we were really pleased with as it enabled our guests to stay outside and enjoy the sunshine and kept the reception room secret and untouched before we went into eat. These are the small touches that Skylark think of for you and really make the day run smoothly. Over all we had the most amazing day and if we could would do it all over again! I would recommend this venue to anyone, Sam and Dave and there staff are what make it so special and nothing is too much trouble!
Our perfect wedding day

We knew instantly that Skylark Farm was the reception venue for us. Sam is so warm and welcoming (as are Dave and the rest of the staff).
The venue is on a working chicken farm and we love the reindeer and sheep who live there too. The zipwire was enjoyed by many of the guests too!
The views are stunning and they can actually be enjoyed all day and night as the outside area is covered, lit, has ample seating and blankets are thoughtfully provided for when it gets chilly.
The barn is amazing - a lit-up dance-floor, great lighting and the freedom to move furniture and add whatever decorations you wish.
The food was amazing-we attended a tasting evening so were able to try so many things before deciding. All of our guests loved the food-but particularly the vegans!
There was an unfortunate road accident outside of our venue on our wedding day that blocked the road outside Skylark for at least 7 hours. When it got to midnight and guests were still struggling to leave the venue to get to the local hotel, Sam, her husband and another member of staff took it upon themselves to drive all of our remaining guests and ourselves the half hour trip around to get to the hotel that was really only 5 minutes away. We knew that we could trust Sam completely to make our wedding day so special and we were right-even when things beyond their control went wrong, they stepped up to help us.
We can't recommend Sam and her team at Skylark enough. She really cares about her weddings and her couples and our guests also have so much praise for this fantastic venue and hosts.
5th August 2017

We had the pleasure of having our wedding at Skylark Farm on 5th August 2017. We first visited this venue 18 months prior and was blown away by the views. We had visited several venues before our visit here but no venue came close to the scenery, venue and staff.
Sam & Dave are genuine people who have a real passion for their farm and will do anything possible to ensure you have that one special day. We had some unusual requests when we booked the venue and they were able to accommodate every one.
The day it self was as magical as we expected and with the help of Sam and the staff everything ran as smoothly as possible. Sam & the staff are experienced in Weddings with this venue being booked up for years ahead. The food we experienced at the tasting evening and on the day was of high quality and service was swift throughout.
The major selling point of this venue is its flexibility. You will never be just another wedding to them. Nothing is ever too much trouble and you have that peace of mind knowing that everything will be dealt with professionally.
29th July the day Sam made our day perfect
By brett sutton, on 17 Aug 2017Date of Wedding - 29 Jul 2017
Sam & Dave and all the skylark staff were flawless from the moment we booked to the moment their son drove us back to the hotel. The sheer passion they put in to making our day special was shown by the atmosphere and was noted and commented on by all our guests. The setting is beautiful, they happily worked with the quirkiness to our wedding theme, and the food was bob on, the hog roast in the evening went down a treat, with the evening guests, the bar prices was reasonable and fairly well stocked for a typical wedding bar. Both my wife and myself loved what skylark did for us that day, and love them for it. if your looking for venue please visit these guys yourself, you will come away with a positive outlook for your big day, in the knowledge that your in safe hands.
Thanks again Sam for hosting us. Love from Brett and Bex.

I could not think of a more perfect place to get married. Thanks to Sam and the staff at Skylark our day was perfect a wedding to remember. All the guests commented on how lovely the place was. Sam is so enthusiastic and what ever you want to do she will try her hardest to accommodate. They have made lifetime customers out of my husband and I. You cannot good wrong with skylark farm for a venue for your wedding.

My friends had chosen a great venue for their wedding. The room for the wedding party had a beautiful veranda looking out to open countryside and was perfect for the couple to welcome their guests and for the photographs. The room itself was tastefully decorated and there was a bar at one end and a small dance area in the middle. Staff appeared helpful and amenable.
I had made the wedding cake, a 3 tiered heart shaped arrangement and for an amateur, I was immensely proud of my accomplishment. I was disappointed however, that, without consultation with the bride or her party, it was decided not to cut it up until the supper, when many of the
guests had left. It was left to the bride in the days following the wedding to distribute the cake to a great many of her friends and family. My husband and I also noticed staff removing full bottles of wine from the tables around the supper time, without explanation and even though there were still guests sitting there. I was aware that the wedding couple had paid separately for the wine.
I also felt that the supper, (comfort food) was very poor quality, brought out piecemeal and not reflective of the high price paid.
Poor Evening Food and Treatment of Guests
By Jackie and Paul Betts, on 15 Aug 2017Date of Wedding - 22 Jul 2017
We chose Skylark because of its beautiful setting.
There were several problems but most concerning were: very poor food in the evening; treatment of guests; what happened to unconsumed, paid for wine.
Evening food of pulled pork or cheese and onion baguettes, chips, coleslaw and pizza was poor for £15 a head. Food came out slowly; the pulled pork was cold, presentation was wanting.
Guests reported they were treated rudely. This included: refusing a welcome drink to a detained guest; initially refusing access to the reception area to a mother and baby despite agreement this room should be accessible to guests because of forecast rain; another being "told off" for blowing bubbles on the dance floor (the manner used was wanting); my son (bringing in thank you gifts of wine for presentation) being met with "you can't take that in there" rather than "I hope you don't mind me asking...."
Guests observed full bottles of wine being removed from tables and taken to the bar. We have no satisfactory explanation as to where they went.
We tried to resolve issues with Skylark who told us: it was our guests that were rude or not telling the truth; insisted that people had not given time for the evening buffet to come out but made no comment to the argument that all the food would have been cold if guests had waited. Sam left the meeting upset making reference to people who were “superior” just because they ran "a two bit unsuccessful B&B" (this I think was directed at my brother who did run a successful hotel for many years). On leaving I asked her husband for reviewing sites and got sworn at. It is our opinion the owners have a long way to go in knowing how to behave.
Functional Venue marred by poor customer service
By Geoff Moorhouse, on 15 Aug 2017Date of Wedding - 22 Jul 2017
I am writing this review after contacting the management with what I thought might be some helpful feedback not being impressed by their response. The "barn" is purpose built and a functional space for receptions, if not particularly special. It is in a "pretty" location, but on a chicken farm of course. There was a sense of maybe not enough staff at times Food service was slow. The food itself was OK, nothing special, and not substantial. My chicken was not fully cooked, sad to say. Not worth the £75 a head charged. There was a basic bar with limited choice available. The room became stuffy at times, maybe because of the ventilation/heating system. The main issue was around the evening buffet. Although a long table was set out the buffet, when it arrived, was a bowl of chips, some bread rolls with cheese and basic pizza. A plate of each. This quickly went and then there was a wait for more of same served by one member of staff. The management blamed the bride and groom's choice, I still cannot quite believe that Skylark thought this was in any way acceptable or in any way resembled a buffet. Choice, presentation, service and quantity are basic. Nothing worse than not enough food at an event like this. It has been the lack of concern or any sense of wanting to put things right that has made me feel I need to share the experience.
Skylark advertise Wi-Fi as being available. There is poor mobile signal, so this was needed. The staff said there was no wifi. When I fed this back to management my comment was described as "pathetic" - I think this summerises the attitude to customers and customer service. Not recommended.
