Intimate, boutique barn venue. The Grain Loft is a lovingly restored barn conversion and registered wedding venue, filled with history, character and charm. Surrounded by beautiful Shropshire countryside, with on-site accommodation & a new additional barn for an evening party, this is a perfect venue for intimate and exclusive weddings.
Facilities and Capacity
Ideal for intimate ceremonies, receptions, and elopements, The Grain Loft can seat up to 50 guests during the day and up to 70 in the evening. The top level of the barn offers an idyllic space for ceremonies, boasting original oak beams and stone detailing. Softened with elegant drapes and ambient lighting, this room offers a contemporary yet rustic and romantic setting for vows. Couples can then dine with family & friends on long trestle style tables in the downstairs dining room. Those who would prefer an outdoor ceremony can exchange their vows in the beautifully landscaped gardens during mild and warm months. New to 2025, is an additional barn, situated off the garden. Designed with a rustic, quirky feel. The converted barn is ideal for welcome drinks, post ceremony canapes or a party in the evening.
Services Offered
Couples will have access to the furnishings and decorations to embellish their event, including free chair and table hire and inhouse decor and chair covers and sashes. A marquee or gazebos are available for those who want to welcome guests with cocktails on the lawn. As day turns to night, you can choose to light up a gorgeous fire pit to keep everyone warm and enhance the romantic atmosphere. You and your guests can also enjoy garden games, as well as exploring the stunning grounds that are exclusively yours during your stay. These are all included for free
We offer the freedom and flexibility to choose your own caterer and we have options of free corkage & an inhouse bar. For entertainment you can choose to have a band or DJ or use our speakers to create your own vibe. Owner Elaine will work to assist couples throughout their planning journey by recommending local vendors who will make their dream wedding a reality.
Accommodation
Couples and their wedding party can relax after the festivities and return to the luxurious Llanhedric House. Full of charm and character, this country home was originally built in the 1600s and has seven elegantly decorated bedrooms for your guests to enjoy. Boasting exquisite views of the surrounding landscape, this house is an idyllic place to relax and enjoy the moment. The venue also offers newlyweds a unique honeymoon experience, with a private suite located in the wedding barn. Following your ceremony, the honeymoon suite is available in the country house next door or there is the option to transform the ceremony room into a romantic honeymoon suite for you and your love.

Perfect Venue!
We had the most incredible time at the Grain Loft and Llanhedric House for our wedding in December 2024. We had a small intimate wedding with 25 people all together and it was the best day ever!
We were planning our wedding from afar and after meeting Elaine and Mark and seeing the Grain Loft. We knew the Grain Loft was going to be the perfect venue for us!
Elaine and Mark went above and beyond. They were always at the end of the phone answering any questions or worries, they also spoke to suppliers for us before our big day as we were not nearby. They also helped to calm us down with nerves on our day just knowing that they were there! They made our vision come to life! They did so much for us and we really appreciate everything- they’re such a special couple!
The venue allows for freedom which makes it so unique. We were allowed to make the venue ours (although it doesn’t need much decorating at all). We had the venue and the house from Thursday-Sunday and it gave us enough time to make it ours. We loved all the Christmas decorations that Elaine and Mark had already put us as well! Another thing was that there is no limit to suppliers so we could have the caterers, florists, photographers, entertainment etc that we wanted which really helps!
We were lucky enough to be able to use all of the facilities at the Grain Loft including the barn outside which was great for the reception! The heaters inside the barn kept everyone toasty!
We were also the first wedding with the use of their bar and it worked so well. Elaine and Mark were so amazing at helping us choose our wines for our wedding breakfast. The bar set up was beautiful and doesn’t take up much room. There is also lots of options for alcohol and non alcoholic drinks and the staff were so attentive to our guests. Although a small wedding, we all like a drink and there never was a queue!
The house is also huge with amazing space, games rooms and roaring fires! It allowed for us and our families to have some time together before the wedding and it was such a special time. The house has everything you will need. Definitely recommend getting a food shop delivery for arrival as no shops nearby!
You can’t forget about the rolling hills surrounding the Grain Loft. The views are beautiful and wonderful for photos. Although cold, we definitely enjoyed the views!
The Grain loft has everything and more that is needed for an intimate wedding venue. Our vision certainly came to life and our day was so special. A special thank you again to Elaine and Mark. You’re both incredible. You both and the Grain Loft will always hold a special place in our hearts.
We hope to return soon for a little holiday!

Intimate wedding perfection!
We had the house for the weekend so that we and close family could stay the night before and the night of the wedding, extending the celebrations and ensuring everything was close at hand for less stress on the day! The house is spacious, well equipped and very comfortable, and we enjoyed making use of the games rooms on the Friday night.
The Grain Loft is a beautiful venue which didn't need much in the way of decorating as the rustic and cosy vibes were already so lovely. We liked that there was a separate space for the wedding breakfast and it was a bonus that they had recently completed a larger barn space which was perfect for the evening, with a bar area and plenty of seating. (This would comfortably hold a lot more than 28 people!)
The garden areas and the views over the hills are stunning and we were very lucky with the weather so got to make the most of the outdoor space too.
Elaine and Mark were so helpful in answering any questions we had in the lead up, greeting our suppliers on the day, and making sure everything ran smoothly. They very generously provided things like a speaker for our music and set up all the furniture, but note that it is a dry hire venue, so you do have to hire in catering, bar service, crockery etc. This means that you can really make your day your own, which we did by booking a street food caterer and having games available for our guests to play.
We definitely recommend the Grain Loft to any couples who are looking to hold an intimate, and very special, wedding in Shropshire.
Amazing wedding experience
Perfect for a rustic, relaxed and joyful wedding!
Llanhedric House was also a lovely venue for housing family and friends. Very sociable and with a touch of luxury. With the games rooms, table tennis table, bow and arrows there was plenty for everyone to do and it lent itself to our wedding party getting to know each other.
The Grain Loft for the ceremony and the reception (an afternoon tea) looked spectacular with many thanks to Jane’s Petals for the simple yet beautiful floral display. The Loft upstairs was beautifully decorated, with lots of twinkles and feeling all very intimate with its oak beams and rustic feel. It was the perfect size for our wedding party of 58 people. The transformation of the Loft from the ceremony to our bridal suite for the evening was simply magical with some lovely touches (thank you for the sparkly Elaine and Mark!).
Our friends commented that Mark and Elaine were ‘always there but not there’, supportive yet unobtrusive. This summed them up perfectly. We simply cannot thank our hosts enough for making our day so special. If you are looking for a small to medium sized wedding in gorgeous surroundings with a relaxed feel then do consider the Grain Loft, we cannot recommend this highly enough.

Beautiful and perfect venue
The venue is beautiful from every single angle, we didn’t get the best weather but it didn’t ruin the day, we had a fire pit outside with country views for miles. We wish we could live the day all over again! Our families are still talking about it two weeks after the day :)

Meet the team
Myself and my husband Mark set up The Grain Loft as a wedding venue in 2019. We had been running Llanhedric House as a family business and holiday let for 5 years and one of the barns on the farm need restoration to make it safe. We knew it would make a great venue to hold an intimate wedding in. We worked on it, together with my dad, for a year doing as much as we could oursleves. It was filled with love before any ceremony every took place as it was a labour of love and on the family farm that has been in the family for 70 years now.
We have 2 children,now 14 and 17, and have always worked around the needs of the children. We have always held true to our personal values that we keep it a family business (involving the children when we can!) and not having more than 10 weddings in a year. We know this way we can make each one personal to the couple and we can get to know each couple and enjoy their wedding journey with them.
Along with my wife Elaine and our 2 children, Oscar and Holly, I help run The Grain Loft. From everything to day to day running, diy, gardening, cleaning, accounts and everything in between.
Outside of work I love travel and football. If I could combine the two I'd be a very happy man.
I'm a relaxed, happy person and thats how I like weddings at The Grain Loft to be. I hope to meet you soon
