About

On Hitched.co.uk since 2021

Last update: July 2026

Tewinbury is set across 700 acres of farmland beside the River Mimram, offering a collection of distinctive wedding spaces surrounded by nature. It is a place that feels calm, generous and quietly special - proper countryside, with fresh air, open skies and space to celebrate in your own way.

Couples can choose between the Tythe Barn, a 17th-century barn full of character with exposed beams, soft natural light and a riverside garden, or Kingsbridge Estate, a private house hidden at the edge of the farm with exclusive use of the gardens, surrounding fields and space for a marquee celebration. Ceremonies can take place indoors or outdoors, from the barn and walled gardens to the fields, lawns or beside the river.

Food is at the heart of weddings at Tewinbury. Menus are seasonal, generous and led by a yards-not-miles ethos, using produce grown and reared on the farm wherever possible. Couples are invited to a relaxed tasting evening to shape their menu alongside the chefs, with options ranging from elegant three-course meals to sharing boards, BBQs, hog roasts and wood-fired pizza in the evening. Drinks are equally thoughtful, with carefully chosen wines, seasonal cocktails and garden horsebox bars that keep the celebration flowing.

There is plenty of on-site accommodation, allowing couples and guests to turn the wedding into a weekend away. Options include farmhouse and barn bedrooms, woodland huts, shepherd’s huts, lodges, lake huts with alfresco tubs and exclusive use of Kingsbridge House for groups. A dedicated wedding manager supports each couple throughout the planning process, ensuring the day feels effortless, personal and entirely their own.

Simply the best place for a wedding

Being a cynical old sociophobe, I might be forgiven for assuming Tewinbury Farm Hotel was some sort of smiling, high-grade cult. Every last person who works there seems genuinely, unshakeably happy to either see you, serve you, or bend over backward for your every wedding whim. Be careful what you wish for, though—I don’t think they ever actually say no to a single request!
When we first arrived, it felt a bit like the opening act of a post-apocalyptic movie—the sort where the world outside is falling apart and you finally stumble upon the rumoured, word-of-mouth utopian village where everyone is suspiciously safe and happy. Despite being set on sprawling, tranquil farmland along the River Mimram, it’s fantastically close to London, making it the ultimate idyllic getaway without the brutal travel time.

Choosing it over about 6 other contenders, I had the absolute pleasure of getting married there in July 2026. We held our service in the gorgeous adjoining garden before moving into the 17th-century Thythe barn for our wedding breakfast and evening do. My husband is still sobbing like a baby from the beautiful memories of the day, and honestly, I can't blame him.
The entire experience flowed seamlessly, largely because the event staff are nothing short of magic—acting like a full-blown fleet of fairy godmothers Flora (Emily), Fauna (Kirsty), Merryweather (Charlotte), and Tinkerbell (Lauren) all rolled into one), quietly making sure every detail was flawless behind the scenes.

The level of care in the planning is unmatched. They arrange full menu tastings—covering all the food, canapés, and wine—and even tip you off when another wedding is set up in your chosen space, so you can sneak a quick preview of how yours might look. They even let us make use of a store cupboard to set everything up the day before, removing every shred of stress.

On the day of our tasting, we met a couple who were staying overnight for their tenth wedding anniversary—a tradition they’ve kept up every single year since getting married there. That tells you everything you need to know about the place.

Beyond being a top-tier wedding venues, the farm itself is a proper destination. They have a fantastic farm shop, a brilliant café, a children's play area, and regularly host weekend events with live music. It’s genuinely a place you can keep coming back to on weekends, whether with the kids or aged parents. I would have marked this review down one point as there is no pool. However, I’m told that they are working on that, so the next time we stay we might be abler to swim on a natural pond/pool

• Accommodations: Pure five-star luxury. Whether you stay in the converted farm quarters or the private lake huts, the rooms are remarkably spacious, spotlessly clean, and finished with high-end modern bathrooms.

• Dining: The Cowshed serves up genuine Michelin-star quality food, from exceptional dinner cuts to a phenomenal breakfast the next morning.

• Service: The event team works with effortless, world-class precision, creating a celebration that feels effortless, warm, and utterly unforgettable.
It turns out that if you want an unmatched level of hospitality, breathtaking surroundings, and people who truly care, having your wedding at Tewinbury Farm is the best decision you could possibly make.

A beautiful venue but a few operational issues in the lead up to the wedding

A beautiful venue full of very helpful and kind staff. We felt really well supported during the two years of planning that went into our wedding day but sadly there were a handful of operational issues in the week leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day itself. Whilst these small issues didn't affect the overall day significantly, they were issues that we felt shouldn't have happened given the level of planning and money that had gone into the day.

An amazing venue

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding day. From the moment we first started planning, the whole team made us feel so welcomed, supported and confident that our day was in the safest hands.

A very special thank you has to go to Charlotte, our wedding day coordinator, who was absolutely incredible. She went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and that we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Charlotte was attentive, organised and genuinely cared about making our day as special as possible. She even took the time to display things that I had completely forgotten about, which meant so much to me. It was such a thoughtful touch and really showed just how much care and attention she put into our day.

We also want to say a huge thank you to the wider wedding team, particularly Emily, who was always contactable throughout the planning process whenever I had questions or queries about arrangements. She was so helpful and approachable, which made such a difference and gave us confidence throughout the whole planning process.

The food also deserves a special mention! We chose the BBQ menu and it was absolutely amazing. There was a fantastic selection and everything was delicious, with our guests commenting on how much they enjoyed the food. The evening pizza was a particular highlight — it was so good that pretty much everyone was talking about how delicious it was! It was the perfect choice for the evening and went down incredibly well with our guests.

On the wedding day itself, everything came together beautifully. The venue looked incredible, the food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful. We felt completely looked after from start to finish, which meant we could relax and enjoy every moment of our day without worrying about what was happening behind the scenes.

We are so grateful to Charlotte, Emily and the entire wedding team for all their hard work, care and attention to detail. They genuinely went above and beyond to make our wedding day so special, and we couldn’t recommend the venue and its wonderful wedding team highly enough.

Thank you for helping make our wedding day everything we hoped it would be — and for giving us a day we will never forget. 🤍

Wedding nightmare

This is the email I have sent which will some up the nightmare behind the scenes at my wedding
I am writing to formally complain about the standard of service we received during our wedding weekend on 18 July 2026 and to request appropriate compensation.

I want to begin by saying that, up until our arrival, our experience with Tewinbury Farm had been excellent. The manager was outstanding throughout the planning process. She was professional, organised, responsive and gave us complete confidence that our wedding would be delivered to the high standard we expected. My complaint is therefore not about the planning leading up to the weekend, but about the execution and management of the venue once we arrived.

One of the main reasons my wife and I chose Tewinbury Farm was its peaceful and tranquil setting. Throughout the planning process we made you aware that our daughter is autistic and has significant additional needs. We believed the calm environment would make the weekend as comfortable as possible for her.

Sadly, on our wedding day our daughter suffered a severe meltdown. This was not the fault of Tewinbury Farm, and I want to make that clear. Unfortunately, it meant my mother-in-law had to leave the ceremony and the evening celebrations to take her home, meaning she missed much of one of the most important days of our lives.

The following morning, my mother-in-law managed to persuade our daughter to return to Tewinbury Farm. To our absolute shock, the venue was hosting a large car show. Reception informed us that between 1,500 and 2,000 people were expected and that this event had actually been booked more than a year in advance.

At no point during our booking process, planning meetings or final preparations were we informed this event would be taking place immediately after our wedding.

Had we known, we would have made different arrangements for our daughter and for many of our guests.

Instead, the huge crowds, constant movement of vehicles and significant noise immediately overwhelmed her, causing another major meltdown. Once again she had to leave. As a result, she barely experienced any of the venue we had specifically chosen with her needs in mind.

The impact was not limited to our family.

Many guests staying overnight were disturbed from very early in the morning. Three separate rooms had staff knocking on their doors at approximately 5:30am asking them to move their vehicles. My cousins, who had travelled from America especially for our wedding, complained that cars were revving their engines from around 6:30am onwards. Numerous guests commented that their peaceful stay had effectively ended before breakfast, with several saying they wished they could request refunds for their accommodation.

I fully appreciate that Tewinbury Farm is entitled to host other events. However, where an event of this scale has been booked for over a year, I believe customers spending over £22,000 on their wedding deserve the courtesy of being informed in advance. It left us feeling that maximising bookings had taken priority over the experience of wedding guests.

Unfortunately, this was only one of many issues we experienced.

When we arrived on the Friday, we discovered that the drinks we had been assured would be chilled ready for the wedding had instead been left sitting out all week. I raised this concern immediately and was assured on three separate occasions that everything would be moved into refrigeration.

Despite those assurances, much of it remained untouched.

Instead of venue staff resolving the issue, my elderly father-in-law and other family members ended up transporting large quantities of drinks backwards and forwards themselves in order to ensure they were ready for the wedding. This simply should never have happened.

Accessibility throughout the venue was also extremely disappointing.

My father, who uses a wheelchair, found moving around the venue exceptionally difficult. The accessibility provision was far below what we expected. In particular, the gravel pathway leading towards Kingsbridge House was unlit at night, creating a genuine safety hazard. Three of our guests fell while walking back to the hotel after the celebrations. Something as simple as adequate pathway lighting could have significantly reduced this risk.

Kingsbridge House itself was completely unacceptable.

On arrival there was no proper introduction or explanation of the property, leaving us repeatedly walking back and forth to reception simply to gain access to rooms and understand the layout.

The cleanliness was particularly concerning.

There were unpleasant sewage smells throughout the house, flies emerging from sink areas, fly nests in the corners of rooms and an overall standard of cleanliness that fell well below what anyone would reasonably expect.

In addition:

My mother’s room had no running water.
My grandfather’s television did not function correctly throughout his stay.
Various rooms were locked on arrival, creating unnecessary inconvenience and confusion.

These are not isolated issues but repeated failures across the property.

We also hosted a welcome dinner on the Friday evening, spending approximately £1,200. Plus all my guests paying for the hotel rooms which I took over 50 rooms .

Again, the organisation fell below expectations. Food was left uncovered outside while large numbers of flies gathered around it, ruining portions of the meal. This was basic food presentation and service that simply lacked attention to detail and fell far short of what should be expected from a four-star venue.

Taken individually, each of these issues would have been disappointing.

Taken together, they represent a significant failure to deliver the standard of venue, accommodation and service that we contracted and paid for.

In total we spent in excess of £22,000 with Tewinbury Farm, in addition to approximately £1,200 for our welcome dinner. This represented one of the biggest financial commitments we have ever made, and we expected a premium level of service in return.

Instead, our wedding weekend was overshadowed by repeated operational failures, poor communication, inadequate preparation and accommodation standards that simply did not reflect the reputation or price of the venue.

Operational Issues and Disappointment

We got married at Tewinbury in November 2025. The barn, grounds and setting are genuinely lovely, the food was delicious, and the ceremony itself went as perfectly as can be. Our guests had a very enjoyable evening overall, and on the surface, it was a beautiful wedding day.

Unfortunately, the way the day was handled by the operations team left a very sour feeling, and that ultimately overshadows what should have been a seamless, well-coordinated event, especially given the amount we spent.
After the ceremony and outdoor photos, we encountered significant issues that resulted in our wedding breakfast being delayed by well over an hour.

There was a serious lack of communication and visibility from the coordinator throughout this period, and getting an answer from staff about what was happening was near impossible. We paused indoor photos because we believed the meal was imminent as per the order of the day, only to slowly realise as time went on with no update that we were facing a significant delay to the wedding breakfast and subsequent events of the day. Had we known, we could at least have taken more family and group photos that were planned for after the meal, something we therefore missed out on entirely and can never get back. I would gladly pay thousands to have those official photos of friends and family we lost due to this and to not have had my wife cry on our wedding day due to the delays caused by Tewinbury’s confusion and lack of communication on the day itself.

The delay had subsequent knock-on effects:
• We lost a full paid hour of our DJ and externally hired photo booth
• Our photographer had to stay later than agreed to capture key moments
• Cake cutting and first dance were rushed
• Some guests had to leave before seeing these moments at all

Table layout and setup were another major issue. Despite providing a floor plan some weeks in advance and discussing the layout with the sales team both on email and in person, tables were not laid out as discussed, resulting in close family being placed far away from us and some tables being very cramped. On the day, the coordinator told us there were issues accessing the PDF, which raised serious concerns about preparation. Ultimately, there was lack of clarity around the layout prior to the day, and if there was any confusion from Tewinbury’s side about our layout prior to the day, this was not raised with us to make sure they got things correct.

There were numerous smaller, albeit still noticeable and important to my wife and I, operational issues throughout the day, including:
• Alcoholic shots being placed at tables with children
• Items clearly labelled and provided for the day being left in cupboards
• Centrepieces set up incorrectly, which the bride had to try to correct during photos
• Guests having to ask for desserts that hadn’t been served
• A table for glow sticks and song requests never being set up as planned
• Inconsistent and contradictory information from staff

One of the most concerning of all was my wife being served a breakfast platter containing pineapple on the morning of the wedding, despite a clearly stated allergy. This should never happen in the first place but clearly sets a bad tone from the beginning of the day and raised anxiety on an already anxious day, and the response to this was deeply disappointing.

We feel that the responses received to our feedback and concerns have only exacerbated our frustrations. Several points were dismissed, contradicted, or just left unanswered. We feel there was a lack of empathy for how upsetting these issues were on such an important day, and we were left with a strong impression of a disconnect between what is promised during the sales process and what the operations team can actually deliver.

To be clear, this is obviously a beautiful venue with great food and a big reputation that I’m sure won’t be hampered by our review. But we planned this for 2 whole years, and it felt like the attitude of the team making it a reality on the day was to turn up and wing it, and none of the responses received have made us feel otherwise. I would have loved to have been leaving a 5* review, but the reality is that we feel some sadness when we think about parts of our wedding day, and that is something that can never be recovered.

Wedding Review – Kingsbridge Estate at Tewinbury Farm

Our wedding on the 27th of September 2025 at Kingsbridge Estate, Tewinbury Farm was truly the most special day of our lives. From the very beginning, the team at Tewinbury were incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and supportive. They made sure every detail—big or small—was remembered and executed exactly as we had envisioned. No request was ever too much, and their calm professionalism helped us feel completely at ease throughout the entire planning process and on the day itself.

A heartfelt shout-out goes to Charlotte and Lauren, who managed and coordinated our wedding flawlessly. Their organisation, kindness, and reassuring presence made such a difference, and we are so grateful for everything they did to bring our day together so seamlessly.

The staff across the venue were equally exceptional—professional during dinner service, friendly during canapés, and efficient behind the bar. Many of our guests commented not only on how beautiful the venue was, but also on how accommodating and welcoming the entire team made them feel.

We genuinely believe that Kingsbridge Estate is the perfect wedding venue, especially with the exclusive weekend hire. Having also hired the lodges, gave us ample time to relax, enjoy being with our guests, and soak in every moment leading up to and after the day itself. The lake surrounding the huts was absolutely stunning and created the most beautiful backdrop for our photos.

The food was another standout—all served hot, right on time, and tasting absolutely delicious. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.

We cannot recommend Kingsbridge Estate at Tewinbury Farm highly enough. It gave us the most magical, unforgettable wedding day, and we will cherish those memories forever.

Thank you!

Magical day at this stunning venue

We honestly can’t thank the team at Tewinbury Farm enough for giving us the wedding day of our dreams. From start to finish, everything was absolutely seamless and full of joy. The venue itself is breathtaking but what really sets it apart is the incredible staff. From the moment we first visited, everyone was so warm and welcoming. Being a family-run venue, there’s a genuine sense of care and heart in everything they do.

Lauren and the whole team were so kind, patient, and thoughtful throughout the entire planning process. Nothing was ever too much trouble — they really listened to what we wanted and tailored the day perfectly to us.

Charlotte, our on-the-day coordinator, was simply amazing — totally calm and completely on top of everything, which allowed us to fully relax and soak it all in. The day ran like clockwork. The food was also incredible — we had so many guests tell us it was some of the best they’ve ever had at a wedding.

One of the biggest draws for us was the on-site accommodation. With guests travelling from all over the UK and abroad, it meant they could stay for the weekend, which made the whole experience feel even more special and allowed us to spend quality time with everyone.

We feel so lucky and grateful to have got married at this beautiful venue. It truly was the most magical day that we'll treasure forever. Thank you Lauren and team for giving us the day of our dreams, Tewinbury Farm now holds such a special place in our hearts and we can't wait to come back and visit again soon!

Forgetful Day in beautiful Tewin!

Thanks to the whole team at Tewinbury for making our wedding day sooooo amazing!! Our friends are still talking about it months later as the wedding of the year, and we have never felt more looked after. The food is incredible as are all the tiny details that really give this venue such a special quality. We are already booked in for our anniversary and can’t wait to come back to Tewinbury.

Beautiful Venue, just a shame about the constant mistakes

It’s a lovely venue and has the potential to give you an amazing day — but be warned, I’ve never been to a wedding here (including my own) where something didn’t go wrong.

For our wedding:
• There was no prosecco on the top table for the toast — no one suggested it until it was too late, so we ended up toasting with beer glasses, which was quite embarrassing.
• The house lights were left on during our first dance, taking away from the moment.
• A staff member offered to take my bouquet to my room — this never happened, and I later found it crushed in a storage cupboard.
• The turnaround times between the ceremony, meal, and reception were too long — especially between the meal and party. We started our evening an hour late, leaving guests hanging and shortening the party.

While our day was still lovely overall, these things were disappointing — and they could have been avoided with better attention to detail.

I went to another wedding here this week and sadly, the same issues cropped up — for example, the wedding coordinator forgot the page boy’s flowers, and someone had to chase them at the last minute.

It’s the little things they seem to miss, and those small details make a big difference on a wedding day.

Nearly a year on I’ve tried to forget these things and look back on the positives of the day but it’s really hard to look past when you only get one opportunity.

Tewinbury - the most perfect venue for our absolutely perfect wedding

We could not be happier that we chose Tewinbury for our wedding this August (2024). It was the first and only venue we saw, and we fell in love with it instantly; it had everything we were looking for and we needed to look no further. We're so glad we didn't; Tewinbury was the most gorgeous, perfect venue for the wedding we envisioned. They were able to work with our budget to make everything we wanted possible, and we had many visits there in the year leading up to it to make sure everything was in place - we were never denied a meeting which really helped us feel at ease, especially when our planner left n the lead up to the wedding. We had three days at Tewinbury in total, so our family and friends were able to enjoy the day before and after with us, and this really made the experience extra special, especially as the rooms are so gorgeous, and so convenient for the barn. We got married in the Tythe Barn, which was just what we wanted, and had our drinks reception on the terrace. Luckily the weather as great so we were able to use the terrace and alongside the river throughout the event which was so lovely. Our co-ordinator Charlotte was an absolute dream on the day - calm, organised, and made sure every element of the wedding was implemented to absolute perfection. Everything ran completely smoothly, looked absolutely beautiful, and I - a total control freak - managed to completely relinquish control as I felt in such safe hands. We chose a buffet for our evening meal and everyone has commented on how lovely the food was, as were the canapés, and there was plenty of drink to go round. We are so grateful to Charlotte and her team, and the absolutely gorgeous venue that is Tewinbury, for the magical wedding of our dreams. We couldn't have wished for more.

Stunning Venue with Exceptional Service

The venue for our wedding was absolutely stunning, and I was blown away by the setup when I arrived. The food was amazing, and we received numerous compliments from our guests. However, what truly makes this venue special is the incredible staff.

I want to extend a special thank you to Ethan, our wedding coordinator. He was very organized, responsive, and did an amazing job on the day. From the moment I stepped onto the venue, I didn't have to worry about anything.

Additionally, we were allowed to set up bits and pieces the day before, and I want to say a special thank you to Salem and Charlotte. They went above and beyond to help us with the setup, making everything perfect.

The genuine helpfulness and warmth of the staff made our wedding day even more special. I can't recommend this venue enough for anyone looking to have a truly memorable event.

Thank you Ethan and entire team for making our day unforgettable!

Wedding - Would not recommend

We had our wedding here this year (2023), and even though the venue is beautiful, unfortunately, the staff really let us down. The handover from our wedding coordinator to the manager present on the day was terrible and all the wrong information was given over.
The seating plan was completely wrong, and the layout of the room was not what we had asked for and detailed months prior.
We had a bar tab, but the bar staff charged our guests for their drinks, again even though this was clearly stated in writing and over the phone in the planning stages that there was to be a bar tab.
The wedding breakfast was good, but unfortunately the evening food was not edible. Futher more, most of our guests stayed at the hotel to which breakfast is included. When at breakfast the following morning they ran out of most of the food items.
When these issues were presented to the Events Manager, Lauren, we did not get a sorry or any kind of ownership for the mistakes that had taken place and Lauren actually didn't respond to our emails of calls to ensure the issues were resolved. Eventually, we had to get the General Manager involved, who did respond and resolve the issues, but unfortunately, overall not a great experience for the money that we paid to have our wedding there and nothing could fix the mistakes made on the day.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to make your big decisions easier.
