We honestly cannot recommend Valleyside Barn highly enough! From the very beginning, Emma and Matt, went above and beyond to make our wedding day everything we had dreamed of. We had a church ceremony and then headed to Valleyside Barn for our evening reception.

Every question was answered and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. Emma and Matt were absolutely incredible - so kind, attentive and genuinely invested in making our day as special as possible.

The venue itself was absolutely stunning and this is what all our guests also had to say, as well as complimenting the service and how beautifully everything was done.

Emma and Matt made us feel so well looked after throughout the entire process, and also really looked after my bridal party on the wedding morning.

On the day itself, we knew that we could relax and enjoy every moment, because we knew that we were in the best possible hands.

Valleyside Barn will forever have a place in our hearts, as the memories and moments made / captured here are unforgettable.

We looked at a huge number of venues before choosing Valleyside Barn, and it was absolutely the right decision. The venue is stunning in its own right, with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces that gave us the perfect foundation to create exactly the wedding we had imagined. Even after decorating it ourselves, we knew it only looked as incredible as it did because the venue itself is already so beautiful.

One of the biggest reasons we chose Valleyside Barn was the exclusive use across the whole weekend, and we can't recommend this enough. Having Friday to set everything up with our family and friends, the wedding on Saturday, and Sunday to pack everything away made the whole experience feel relaxed instead of rushed. The on-site glamping was another huge benefit, allowing our closest family and wedding party to stay nearby so everything ran smoothly and there was always someone on hand to help if needed.

The communication throughout the planning process was exceptional. Emma always replied incredibly quickly with detailed, thoughtful answers that made planning so much easier. No question ever felt too small, and it was always clear what would happen, when it would happen, and what we needed to do next. That level of organisation gave us so much confidence throughout the planning process.

On the wedding day itself, Emma's coordination was outstanding. She kept everything running seamlessly behind the scenes, making sure suppliers and guests were exactly where they needed to be at the right time. Because everything was so well organised, we never had to worry about logistics and were simply able to relax and enjoy our wedding, knowing everything was completely under control.

Our guests have all commented on how beautiful the venue was, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our wedding. Thank you to Emma and the whole Valleyside Barn team for helping make it such a perfect and unforgettable weekend. We would recommend Valleyside Barn without hesitation.

The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, but what really made the experience exceptional was Emma and Matt. From start to finish they went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. On the day itself they were always there when needed, but in the best way, you never felt their presence, yet everything was clearly being taken care of perfectly behind the scenes.

Emma was especially brilliant throughout the planning process. She was incredibly helpful, responsive, and supportive, from coordinating vendors to accommodating our requests and making sure everything came together exactly how we wanted it.

We honestly couldn’t have chosen a more perfect wedding venue than Valleyside Barn. From the moment we first saw it, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for, relaxed, rustic charm and with such beautiful picturesque outdoor space. Matt & Emma have created the most stunning venue, and everything being on site made the whole day feel so seamless and stress-free.

Communication with Emma from start to finish was absolutely brilliant. No question was ever too big or too small, and she was always so helpful, friendly and organised throughout the whole process. Having the access for the entire day before the wedding was great and allowed us to spending extra time with family and friends setting up and decorating.

We were lucky enough to get married outside in the courtyard, and the weather was unbelievable for April, it genuinely felt like the middle of summer! The venue looked incredible and all of our guests commented on how beautiful Valleyside Barn was. We also had a few children at the wedding who loved having so much outdoor space to run around and play in.

There were so many gorgeous spots for photos, and the honeymoon suite was lovely too. I stayed there the night before with my bridesmaids, and then my husband and I stayed there on the wedding night, which made everything even more special.
We would 100% recommend Valleyside Barn to anyone wanting a relaxed, rustic-style wedding.

We genuinely couldn’t fault a thing and would relive the whole weekend again in a heartbeat!

We were absolutely thrilled that we chose Valleyside Barn as our wedding venue. It was everything we hoped for and more, we were looking for:
• a place where we could marry outdoors, but with beautiful indoor spaces in case the weather turned
• somewhere we could stay the night before and the night of the wedding (the honeymoon suite is gorgeous, and Emma and Matt made it feel so welcoming for us and our baby girl)
• somewhere some of our guests could stay too (the safari tents of Valleyside Escapes were perfect!)
• enough space for the bridal party and groom’s party to get ready separately (the honeymoon suite was perfect for the girls, and the tents gave the boys their own space too)
• a venue where we didn’t need to travel between the ceremony and reception
• stunning spots for photos (the waterfall pond and iron bridge are just two lovely options
Valleyside delivered all of this effortlessly. As we visited venues, we realised there were things we hadn’t even thought to consider. Would the venue support our vision? Absolutely—they offered helpful recommendations but fully supported our choices. Would there be hidden costs? Not at all—communication was always clear and honest. Would we feel relaxed and looked after on the day? Completely. Emma and Matt were brilliant; everything ran exactly as it should.

We got married at Valley side Barn in early June 2025. We booked the escape tents alongside the venue for the weekend. Emma and Matt were amazing and really really accommodating throughout. We had access to the venue from Friday morning, which gave us more than enough time to set up the decorations, considering we were doing it all ourselves. They were around all day and were available for any questions we had and any support we needed.

On the day itself, the weather was mixed, but Emma and Matt were both cool calm and collected, and we're ready with a solution or any problem the rain could throw at us. We had the ceremony inside and then the drinks reception under a gazebo in the courtyard, which worked just fine.

The main barn is a beautiful and elegant space, with amazing lighting and great acoustics, which suited everything from the speeches, general conversation during the meal, to a full live band through the evening. They are flexible on the table setup so you can make it look however you want. The bar is well stocked with local options and is reasonably priced. The garden out the back of the barn is a lovely place to sit and rest your feet into the evening.

The grounds are incredible, and there are plenty of places for some beautiful photos. Our favourite was the field near the river. This was perfect at sunset and produced our best photos of the night.

The accommodation overall was excellent. The honeymoon sweet is lovely and comfortable, with a big bathroom and decent sized space for the bridal party to get ready. The escape tents are well equipped and a perfect placement for other members of the wedding party to crash out when the party's over.

Emma and Matt are happy to work with any suppliers, and will encourage them to attend the venue beforehand so that they know what to expect on the day. This made the whole thing run incredibly smoothly.

Overall, Emma and Matt were so amazing throughout the weekend. They were calm, supportive and open to any ideas we had, whilst taking the reigns when needed to ensure the whole event went off without a hitch. We couldn't be more grateful to them and the whole team at Valleyside Barn for making out special day as straightforward and magical as possible.

We had the most incredible experience at Valley Side Barn for our wedding. From start to finish, Emma and Matt went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, with so many beautiful spaces that made our day unforgettable. The barn was the perfect setting to celebrate with our family and friends, offering the ideal mix of charm and space for a truly joyful atmosphere. The pond area was breathtaking and gave us the most gorgeous backdrop for our photos — it felt magical. And the gallery, where we held our ceremony, was simply beautiful, creating the most special and intimate setting to say our vows.

Valleyside Barn delivered out dream wedding, and so much more.
From our first visit we were immediately impressed by the thought and care that Matt & Emma have given to the venue. Restoration of the historic collection of buildings has all been part of their vision, with their eye for stylish design creating a spectacular setting that maintains the character of the place. Their eye for detail extends to the cleanliness throughout, which was faultless.
The way the venue functions has been well thought through, allowing wedding parties to enjoy the whole day at the venue, whilst the zoned spaces fulfill different functions throughout the day. The wedding service typically happens in an idyllic courtyard where we also had canapes. Later the wedding barn is revealed, serving as a spacious setting whilst still feeling intimidate. Later still after food, the venue opens up further to outdoor space with ready access for guests to walk down to the meadows to the river.
The venue has 3 six person safari tents that can be rented separately. These were to a high standard and complemented the other accommodation options in Bickleigh well.
Last, but most importantly, Matt & Emma are the best thing about this venue. They work effortlessly together and made our day the best it could possibly be. As a venue they only do one wedding per week and dedicate themselves to making it as brilliant as possible. On the day they took care of everything, fulfilling the function of a wedding coordinator so that all suppliers and external providers were kept informed and in the loop.

We truly could not have asked for a better wedding venue or service and will be forever grateful to Emma & Matt for making our wedding more than we could have ever wished for!

We stumbled across Valleyside by accident while staying locally for a friend’s wedding and feel so, so lucky we did. We’re absolutely thrilled we chose to have our summer wedding there: beautiful location, brilliant hosts and excellent facilities. Emma and Matt have picked a glorious spot - everyone remarked on how splendid, green and peaceful the surroundings were - and then furnished it with everything you’d want for a wedding. The prep kitchen was a hit with the caterers, the barn was lovely and airy, you’ve the courtyard for the reception drinks, everything is easily accessible for suppliers (and, indeed, the venue is really easy to reach from both Exeter and Tiverton Parkway for your guests)and the honeymoon suite is really comfortable and spacious (crucial for those getting ready with a few too many bridesmaids!). As an event overseer, Emma is excellent: incredibly details-focussed, very calm and just a nice person to boot. She and Matt were such wonderful hosts & did everything they could to make it a perfect day for us (down to the ordering of the chairs, Matt!) - we can’t thank them enough, we had the best day ever - no stress, just huge fun.

The owners, Matt and Emma are so friendly, helpful and accommodating. From the moment we booked Valleyside Barn, we knew we were in very capable hands. Emma is super efficient and was always on hand to answer any queries and to provide recommendations all the way from booking up to the day itself. Prior to the wedding (and after) Matt was always around ensuring that the venue was in impeccable condition inside and out.

We were blessed with beautiful weather and got married in their outdoor courtyard which is just so pretty, but there is the bonus that they have a few areas where you can get married depending on your preference and weather.

We had the added pressures of getting married and planning a wedding with a small baby and two dogs. Emma and Matt went above and beyond to make everything as easy as possible. Emma ensured the honeymoon suite was ready for us all and even provided a travel cot, highchair, bouncer, activity mat, baby bath and dog bowls! Also, at the end of the evening some of our guests and children also couldn’t get a taxi at the end of the night so Matt did several trips to their accommodation to make sure they all got back safe! We literally couldn’t have asked for more.

On the day itself, everything went so smoothly thanks to Emma and Matt. They made the whole day flow seamlessly, such as moving from the ceremony area to the main barn and setting up for the evening - it wasn’t even noticeable. The only downside we have is that it’s now over but we are planning on returning to stay in their glamping safari tents!
