The Planning

Vicki & Fred were truly wonderful during the build up towards the wedding. From the very first meeting where we got to explore the whole venue, both indoors and outdoors, we felt welcomed like family. Their ethos of “you do you” meant that we felt like nothing was ever too much to ask. Becca and I had some big ideas for what we would like and we threw everything into the pot, Vicki and Fred listened closely and were able to use their skills and experience to clearly explain any practicalities and options we hadn’t considered. Their advice was never overpowering and made it possible to deliver everything we ever could have wanted. From designing the way we wanted both the ceremony room and the main seating room to look, to the cutlery, table dressings, food and drinks packages, music, timings, all were planned down to the minute and without worry, concern or stress. We always knew, right from the outset, we were in the safest of hands.



The Preparation

The team were happy to get involved as much or as little as we wanted and we chose to combine some of their in-house decor with our own to achieve a unique vision. We visited the venue in the week before the wedding to hang the lighting, Fred spent hours up a ladder to get the lighting just the way my wife had dreamed it, whilst we scurried around fitting some uplighters that I had seen on the internet and really wanted! Abi joined us to help design the table setting and discuss music. The day before the wedding, friends and family joined the team to assemble the personal, finishing touches and it was the perfect way to bring everybody together before the big day.



The Wedding Day

I arrived, having had 1 hours sleep, to find our caterers cooking over open fire and the venue, well it looked fantastic. The team at the Cattle Barn had spent the time after we had left the day before cleaning, laying up and polishing the whole place. It was magical, it brings tears to my eyes to remember how happy I was and this was an hour before we were due to be married! The ceremony room looked perfect, all the chairs laid out so neatly, we had a lot of people join us but the room not only coped, but shone, no one was ever short of space. The team were in place in their shirts, ready to calm me down and receive our guests. They planned a quiet time for Becca and I after the ceremony, just a few minutes, together, alone, hidden from the guests, to enjoy our first moments together as a married couple. It was perfect, the lobby felt homely, warm and like we had been whisked away.


Staying the Evening

Becca and I had one of the pods for our first night as Husband and Wife, it is a lovely, peaceful, comfortable and homely space, we married in February but you wouldn’t know it was winter inside that pod! Our friends stayed in the lovely bunk houses, which I have to say are really rather posh for bunk beds. Having the capacity for so many people to stay comfortably onsite certainly kept the party going well into the night! We would highly recommend staying at the Cattle Barn.



The Morning After

I think the majority of our guests had rather sore heads the morning after our wedding, having spent the whole day on my feet, then the evening dancing the night away, I struggled to walk, but the venue is so accessible I could easily hobble my way in to breakfast. The team at the Cattle Barn (Fred especially) had prepared the best of breakfasts’, it was locally sourced, delicious and absolutely enjoyed by all that joined us. We are so glad that we added this to our package as a chance to catch up and recount everybody’s experience before sending them on their way home. We got so many compliments on the day which were really all credit to The Cattle Barn team!


Would we recommend ?

This is the easiest yes we have ever given. I was honoured to marry the love of my life at the venue of our dreams run by a team that could not have been any better, they truly are amazing! Our heartfelt thanks go to Vicki, Fred & Abi, plus the whole team that served, cleared, catered and cared for us and our guests so very, very well.

It has taken me nearly 18 months to write this review and I still sit here, with tears in my eyes, as I remember one of the happiest days of my life. None of this would have been achievable without the absolutely fabulous Cattle Barn team.

We had our wedding at The Cattle Barn this summer and it was absolutely fabulous. The whole team were so friendly and welcoming from our very first visit and were always on hand with help and advice throughout the planning.

The wedding day itself was wonderful. We had so much fun and a huge part of that was down to The Cattle Barn and the team. The in-house catering was amazing, really tasty food and great portions too!

The whole venue is finished to such a high standard and the flower beds and planters everywhere make it look and feel so welcoming. It actually meant we didn’t feel the need to spend lots of our own money on flowers to decorate the front of the barns and outside spaces, as they already looked lovely. The staff were also smartly dressed in uniform, friendly and genuinely happy which is something you rarely see these days!

Having the two barns under one roof worked brilliantly and meant we had a wet weather plan without having to worry about it. We used The Lambing Shed for our wedding meal and then extended to The Cattle Barn for the evening party, which worked perfectly with a bar in each barn.

The Chill-Out Room was also such a bonus. During the day the children could play games and relax in there (and it’s right next door to where you eat), and in the evening it was perfect for our older guests or anyone who wanted to sit and have a proper conversation without having to shout over the band or DJ – which is normally the case at weddings!

If you’re thinking of booking The Cattle Barn, you MUST! We honestly cannot recommend it enough. You will not be disappointed!!

We had our wedding reception at The Cattle Barn in June and we couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful venue and location to celebrate with friends and family. It was a glorious, hot, sunny day and the views were spectacular. The barn is set amongst beautiful grounds with grass laid lawns and flower beds surrounding the outside seating area which meant we really didn’t need to make much effort decorating the outside space! There was easily enough room to accommodate 200+ guests, both inside and out, and there were plenty of comfy sofas and benches to sit on and have a drink or two.

The inside of the barn is also light and airy and there's lots of space for tables and a dance floor. A gorgeous bar stretches the length of the room which is lit with fairy lights and this leads outside to a lovely pond area where you can sit and relax under the willow tree.

Along the outside of the barn there are a number of bunkhouses and two very cute glamping Pods which guests may book should they wish to stay overnight. We stayed in one of the Pods which was bee themed and the owners made it feel really special for us.

The venue is run by its owners, Fred and Vicki, who went above and beyond to help make our day spectacular. Nothing was too much trouble and Vicki even matched the staff's uniform with our wedding colours! We were able to decorate the venue the previous day and Fred and Vicki were very relaxed about how we wanted to arrange things, even helping out when time was pressing on. All of the staff worked so hard to make sure everyone enjoyed the day and were so friendly and welcoming to us and our guests. We had an outside BBQ during the evening, followed by some amazing homemade desserts made by Vicki. We received so many compliments about the food and venue afterwards which speaks volumes. We honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more and want to thank everyone at The Cattle Barn for all their hard work making sure everything ran smoothly. It was the perfect day.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding venue! From start to finish, Vicki, Fred, and Abi went above and beyond to make sure everything was flawless – nothing was ever too much trouble. The attention to detail was incredible: the bar was well stocked, the venue spotless, and the flowers were absolutely beautiful.

The setting is truly stunning – just below the Cat’s Back – with so many picturesque backdrops for photos, including the gorgeous pond out the back. Every moment felt magical, and our guests were blown away by the atmosphere.

If you’re looking for the ideal wedding venue in the most beautiful location, this is it. We had the best day ever and can’t thank the team enough for making it unforgettable!
