The Royal Hotel Scarborough, with its imposing architecture and famous staircase and atrium, bears the unmistakable hallmarks of the Regency Period. Its spacious ballroom and ceremony room can accommodate up to 120 guests, allowing you to hold both your civil ceremony and evening reception under one roof. While the more intimate space is teeming with natural light, the grand ballroom is tailor-made for an evening on the dance floor. Exceptional and stressfree
Helen was absolute perfection to work with. She kept us updated every step of the way, was incredibly friendly and approachable, and made sure we always knew who to contact even when she was on annual leave. We felt so well cared for throughout the entire process.
The food blew us and our guests away! We were expecting a standard, basic buffet, but it was a incredible spread—including hot options like mini pies and mini Yorkshire puddings with a huge variety. One of our guests even came up to tell us that they normally avoid buffets, but found this one absolutely delicious! They also handled dietary needs brilliantly: our coeliac guest was catered for with a fantastic gluten-free selection and was so impressed.
For accommodation, as we have a toddler, we opted for the Family Suite instead of the Honeymoon Suite. It was wonderfully spacious and made managing our stay with a little one so easy.
The Ballroom itself was a great size for the evening celebrations, and the house DJ did a fantastic job—the music choices kept the atmosphere brilliant all night.
Thank you to Helen and the entire team for making our special day so seamless, delicious, and memorable. We highly recommend this venue to anyone planning their big day!

On the day of the Wedding Helen and the Team ensured the day ran smoothly and above all made sure we and our guests had the best time.

From the very beginning, Helen was an absolute superstar. She was so attentive, supportive and helpful throughout the whole planning process, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Whenever we had any questions or doubts, Helen was always there to guide us and put our minds at ease. She truly made the whole experience so much easier, and she’s definitely the one part of wedding planning that I’ll miss the most!
All of the staff on the day were absolutely amazing and worked so hard behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. Our guests had so many lovely things to say about both the venue and the staff, but the buffet was definitely one of the biggest talking points! Everyone raved about how incredible the food was.
We also had the DJ included in our package, and he honestly blew us all away! I don’t think there was a single moment when the dance floor was empty. He did an absolutely fantastic job and really helped make the night so much fun.
It truly was the best night of our lives, and we couldn’t thank the whole team at The Royal enough for helping make it so special. We will forever be grateful and would 100% recommend The Royal Hotel to anyone looking for the perfect wedding venue! ❤️

honestly if I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. Everything from the food to the price was astounding. Our wedding coordinator (Helen) who works for the hotel, was beyond fantastic. She helped us every step of the way and dealt with every single request we had without any issue or hesitation. She honestly made us and our wedding feel like the only one she's ever done! The whole experience working with the hotel to the big day itself was nothing other than perfection. All of the stresses that could have come from wedding planning and organising etc just went out of the window when we started working with this hotel. For reference our wedding was 24/04/2024 and we had about 30 guests. We held our ceremony and reception there and I couldn't be more glad. It was affordable and looked like we had paid 10s of thousands. We chose to buy our own decor as i was very parricular about how I wanted our aesthetics to be, but i could have chosen to rent decor from the hotel at an affordable extra cost. Despite buying the decor myself, the staff helped to arrange them and decorate with me which saved a lot of time and stress. I genuinely can't thank them all enough for making our day perfect.
