The Reid Rooms

Originally built in 1810 as stables for the working horses on the farm, The Reid Rooms have been tastefully converted to the highest standard. Since opening in 1996, The Reid Rooms have hosted many special occasions, from small parties to large weddings and conferences. The Reid Rooms are pleased to be able to offer flexibility and help based upon many years of experience.

The Reid Rooms are handsome weather boarded barns set in the heart of the Essex countryside yet conveniently positioned close to Chelmsford, Dunmow, Ongar and Stansted Airport and only a short drive from the London suburbs.

The bar area offers a tasteful reception area complete with a locally crafted, hand-built bar. Furnished with fine antique pine and rural paintings. There is also a dance floor for evening entertainment.

      Perfect Day
      Mary the co-ordinator was fantastic in the build up and actually on the day. We loved that we were able to choose our own caterers and bring in our own wine without corkage charge. I found the venue very inviting with it's character and charm and knew it was right place for us as soon as I stepped inside.

      The owners and staff just couldn't have been better
      The venue is beautiful and totally made our day. Mary Briscoe, the wedding co-ordinator, is the most effcient, kind and calm individual. I couldn't rate the venue highly enough, especially if you are aiming for a more intimate and family based day.

      A perfect Christmas wedding!
      We knew from the moment we stepped foot in the Reid Rooms that it was the perfect venue for our Christmas wedding reception. The separate rooms for eating, dancing and general chatting and relaxing was just what we were looking for. So many of our guests remarked on how lovely it was to still be able to have a good chat even once the disco had got started. The service was superb and we could not have asked for anything more. The decorations for Christmas were wonderful making our special day all the more magical.

      Can't fault anything
      Married here on 19th October, infact Robsroadshow were out DJ's!!!. I just can't praise this venue enough. Jane (the owner) is always on hand to help and is very professional but friendly, ensured everything went smoothly on the day but is not intrusive. The venue is impressive but very cosy and they have just extended out the back, so you now have 4 large rooms all to yourselves to use as you please. Our catering was fantastic and since the wedding EVERYBODY has said that it is one of the best weddings they have been to, which I have no doubt is due to The Reid Rooms. To sum it up........ Beautiful, friendly and professional.

      Excellent!!!!!
      We just played our first disco here. The feedback from both the groom & the brides father was most impressive. The main theme was 'service is second to none' The venue exudes classs in a very comfortable manner. Impressive & yet still cosy.

      Classy country venue - can't go wrong!
      We got married here on 6th July and I can't recommend it enough. The location is fab, and the venue is two interconnecting barns, which are full of exposed beams - really beautiful. There is also a courtyard where you can sit out in the evening if the weather is nice. You have the whole place to yourself and your guests, and can organise your own drink and catering, which saves a fortune, believe me! All our guests were really impressed as were we. Couldn't fault it even slightly! BUT...because it is so rural, accommodation proved to be a slight problem (mainly B&B's) but there are some hotels within 10 miles drive (Chelmsford).
