Berwick House & Gardens is a Grade II* listed Georgian-Victorian wedding venue on the sparkling River Severn just a mile North of Shrewbury Town. This outstanding mansion was built in 1731 and expanded in 1875 with no expense spared, resulting in a truly stunning manor designed for entertainment and rich with character. No more deja-vu weddings --- here at Berwick, no two celebrations are ever the same.
Facilities and Capacity
Berwick House was a private family home for over six generations. Today, the same family opens its doors and welcomes you to experience Berwick as your own home.
This beautiful estate offers its lavish interior as your setting for your celebration. Inside you will find hand-carved and oak-panelled walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, large marble fireplaces, and tall corniced ceilings adorned with crystal chandeliers. Colours dance across the rooms as natural light shines through the stained glass ceiling and windows.
With 8 licensed spaces in and around the House and Gardens, you have the freedom to choose your perfect ceremony setting. Seat up to 125 guests in our Drawing Room, or 170 of your guests in Berwick's historic Chapel -- or take it to the gardens for an even larger formality. Up to 400 guests can enjoy the interior of Berwick House for your cocktail reception and afterparty.
Grab a cocktail from the Oak Room Bar and mosey next door for a quiet moment in the Georgian Library, overlooking splendid views of the Italianate Hardy Garden. Dine under crystal chandeliers in our magnificent and light-filled Drawing Room. Floor-to-ceiling windows spill light across the South front, leading you onto the terrace facing the rolling countryside, immaculate gardens, and River Severn. Cosy up with family and friends alongside an open fire in our lavish Dining Room, surrounded by hand carved oak, ancient arms, and crown moulding. Put your Snooker skills to the test on our original mohagany table in the dedicated Billiard Room. How you choose to enjoy Berwick is entirely up to you!
Berwick is easily accessible by foot, public transportation, or car, taking the stress away from travelling.
For a breath of fresh air, stroll through Berwick's blossoming gardens, finding plenty of photo opportunities along the way. Opt to include use of the historic Little Berwick Chapel, just 200m from Berwick House. It was built in 1672 and is adorned with stained glass, bells, an original organ, impressive sound quality and intricate detail.
