Nestled amidst 3,000 acres of parkland just 1.5 miles from Shrewsbury town centre, Berwick Estate is a spectacular Grade II* manor and gardens steeped in British history and character.
Built in the 18th Century with the sole intent of entertaining and impressing, Berwick was host to an endless succession of balls, theatre, hunts, and garden parties. As home to the Watson family and their eighteen staff, Berwick held receptions and lavish dinner parties for hundreds of guests throughout the year. Fires roared in every hearth, light poured from every window, and the sound of laughter, music and revelry echoed through each room.
However, as the house passed from generation to generation, the parties began to dwindle, and Berwick’s crowded halls fell quiet. Rooms previously full of warmth grew dark and the fine silverware began to tarnish. Berwick settled into a deep slumber. Frozen in time as more of a museum than a home, the family acted as guardians of a distant past.
But now, Berwick’s sixth generation has chosen to turn back the clock. Since inheriting the house in 2017, we have removed the dust sheets and painstakingly restored the estate to its former glory. Today’s Berwick is once again a space of extravagance, warmth, and joy. A space for celebration and love. A space brought to life by the people who dance and laugh through its corridors.
And for the first time in over 300 years, we are handing you the key.

Berwick House was a private family home for over six generations. Today, the same family opens its doors and welcomes you to experience Berwick as your own home.
Berwick is exclusively exclusive -- you will never feel like you're on the "wedding conveyor belt". A limited number of events are hosted each year.

This beautiful estate offers its lavish interior as your setting for your celebration. Inside you will find hand-carved and oak-panelled walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, large marble fireplaces, stained glass, and tall corniced ceilings adorned with crystal chandeliers. Every wedding enjoys exclusive use of our Georgian Library, marble-topped bar, main hall with stained glass ceiling, light-filled Drawing Room, Oak Room Bar, Dining Room, Snooker Room, Gun Room Whiskey Bar, and much more.
With 10 licensed spaces in and around the House and Gardens, you have the freedom to choose your perfect civil ceremony setting. Opt for flexible ceremonial use of Little Berwick Chapel, just a short stroll from Berwick House. It was built in 1672, seats up to 170 guests, and is adorned with stained glass, bells, and an original organ. Seat up to 120 guests in our Drawing Room for your wedding breakfast -- or take it to a marquee in the gardens for an even larger formality. Up to 499 guests can enjoy the interior of Berwick House.
Berwick is easily accessible by foot, public transportation, or car. For a breath of fresh air, stroll through Berwick's 11 acres of blossoming gardens, finding plenty of photo opportunities along the way.

There's nowhere quite like Berwick!
We went to see Berwick for the first time in 2023, and immediately the charm of the place stuck out to us. We knew that we wanted a gorgeous venue with a stately home feel, but didn't want it to feel old and stuffy. Berwick combines old and new, and they are so welcoming that you feel really at home in such a beautiful place. You can walk down gorgeous carved wood staircases with stunning chandeliers in your finery - or just in your slippers to get a cup of tea the next morning.
We booked Berwick from Friday to Sunday and it was the best decision we could have made for our big day. It was worth every penny! We had a gorgeous rehearsal dinner prepared by the Berwick team, and breakfast on the Sunday morning was just amazing. All of this helped to make our day extra special. We feel so proud to have played a small part in helping to restore Berwick, and every time we came back to visit Will & Kassidy had added new renovations and features. It is so exciting to see the house being brought to its former glory (with a little modern twist).
The house itself is amazing - the bedrooms are to DIE for and all stunning and individual, the snooker room got a big seal of approval from the groomsmen, the bridal suite was perfect for me and the bridesmaids, the drawing room just has stunning light coming through and views over the grounds for wedding breakfast, the grounds are perfect for gorgeous photos. And the hallway with the light up stained glass ceiling? Come on!!
The real magic of Berwick is the team, and having such a wonderful group of people on hand on the day who you feel really care about making your day special is just the best feeling. We could really relax knowing everything was taken care of.
There really is nowhere else like Berwick, and I promise you won't regret going with these guys!

We had seen a few venues around Shrewsbury, but what really stood out to us about Berwick was the feeling of this stunning venue being your home for the weekend for you and your guests. We didn't feel like we were on a conveyor belt (which can happen with some venues as they have weddings every day). We were able to rent the house for the weekend, having a base for our family to stay and guests to come and celebrate. We were able to have a different room for every section of the wedding day (chapel for ceremony, gardens for drinks reception, drawing room for wedding breakfast and main hall for the reception). Plus more rooms for guests to enjoy (e.g. billiards room). The venue is so beautiful but doesn't feel stuffy at all, if anything it feels homely whilst also stunning. Every bedroom has been beautifully renovated, the grounds are also gorgeous and all ours to use. It was the perfect setting for our English/Polish wedding!
The team at Berwick were also incredible! Will and Kassidy are so down to earth, accommodating and really bent over backwards to ensure our dream wedding could become a reality. Jade was our co-ordinator and she was also excellent, so helpful with recommendations and supporting us in figuring out the finer details of the weekend. The rest of the team at Berwick including Tim, Elin and all the staff on site, were so lovely, creative and would always do what they could help make our day so special! Thanks so much guys, it really means so much to us!

Thank you for a magical wedding
Any time we emailed, Kassidy, Will and Jade were quick to answer our questions or concerns which helped to reduce the stress of planning a wedding.
Our wedding was quite complex (having 2 wedding ceremonies on the one day!), Berwick were helpful in supporting us to organise the day so that it ran smoothly.
The chapel onsite is unique. My family and I, and Berwick House, tried very hard to get permission from the Catholic diocese to have a religious ceremony for our wedding. However, in the end this wasn’t granted. Luckily, we could have the legal marriage there instead (at the time of our wedding, we had to travel back to the house to sign the documents - this might change in the future). Having the chapel for the ceremony was special, it allowed me to have the dream walk down the aisle moment and a seamless transition at the end of the ceremony for the confetti shots.
As we were having a multicultural wedding, it was important that we’d be able to have the sacred fire for the Hindu ceremony. Originally we planned on having the ceremony outside but on the day, the weather was too windy. Berwick were very quick and smooth at turning the double drawing room around so we could have the ceremony indoors.
The bedrooms have been tastefully upgraded with beautiful en-suites, our guests loved staying in the house. We stayed the night before the wedding and this was the perfect opportunity for the two families to meet and spend time together before the big day.
Our wedding was magical, and Berwick House was the perfect venue for us.
Amazing day, really made our day perfect
As soon as we visited this venue, we knew we had to choose it for our wedding venue. The house and every room in it is absolutely breathtaking and the chapel is beautiful, not to mention the stunning grounds.
Will and Kassidy were brilliant throughout the whole process. They showed us around on our first visit to the house, communication was easy with quick responses and they made us feel so welcome during our stay for our wedding. We stayed the day before our wedding until the morning after and had a fantastic stay.
Jade, the wedding planner, was fantastic throughout, as were Tim and Elin, and the rest of the Berwick staff. Everything was taken care of perfectly and they seemed to genuinely enjoy hosting, and being part of, our wedding.
Our guests had the greatest time at Berwick and were nothing but complimentary about how stunning the place is and how well everything was run.
We highly recommend Berwick House, it really was a dream-come-true venue and we can't thank all the team there enough for everything they did for us.
Exceptional Wedding Weekend
Obviously, the House and gardens are stunning, from the outside and in. We really wanted to find a venue where our closest friends and family could stay the night before and after and at Berwick there are 15+ rooms - all spacious and uniquely designed, mostly with incredible ensuites(!), so everyone was already amazed before the wedding even began! It was really nice to be able to welcome people the day before and have a low-key family get-together on the eve of the wedding, and also have flexibility the morning after to have a group breakfast, walk in the grounds and ultimately pack up to go at a comfortable pace. The bridal party rooms are grand and more than big enough to host preparations through the morning for large groups of groomsmen and bridesmaids. Kassidy and Will were amazing, really personable and interested in our guests on arrival, and checked in through the wedding day and evening to make sure everything was running smoothly. They were attentive to our ideas and went out of their way in the months leading up to our wedding to make sure we could do things as we envisaged, which obviously meant we had the wedding we had dreamed of.
The other massive selling point of Berwick for us was the ability to choose external providers of various aspects of the day, for example food and entertainment. Kassidy and Will liaised with each provider so that everything went really smoothly, even for example enabling our photographer to have a pre-visit without us needing to be there. Will and Kassidy used their experience of previous weddings to let us know what other couples had chosen and what had worked well, but we were still able to make our personal choices.
I was amazed by the food that our external caterer, Kemp and Kemp, produced, proving that the kitchen area at Berwick easily accommodates what’s required to produce a great three course meal for ~100 guests. Amazingly, Berwick has multiple possible dining rooms for parties of around this size, offering flexibility for you in how to use the multiple amazing ground floor rooms through the day/night.
We chose to use the on-site chapel for our ceremony, which required no decoration to look amazing, and similarly the interior of the House is full of character already, so we enjoyed the atmosphere with minimal additions ourselves. We thought the main hall was a fantastic place for band and dancefloor, but equally the room in which we ate the main meal would allow for a great party space with the noise somewhat removed from the middle of the House. Having the bar managed by the staff at Berwick was another stress-free element that worked really well.
I can’t emphasise enough how impressed all of our guests were with the venue and Berwick staff, and how the day went, which is in a large part down to the incredibly helpful team. I would absolutely recommend!

We had the most wonderful weekend at Bewick to celebrate our wedding.
As the best man of the day said - we could have done it a thousand different ways and it couldn’t have gone better.
The incredible Berwick team made the whole day feel easy and relaxed. However, this was not due to their lack of attention to detail but quite the opposite as everything had been incredibly well planned to make the day run seamlessly.
In organising the wedding, the Berwick team were so friendly and open to our ideas to make the day our own. It didn’t feel formulaic and rigid, like other venues we visited (wedding factory), but instead had a genuine comfortable atmosphere, so much so that the guests commented on how natural and welcoming the whole event felt.
Not only this but to have the entire house for the whole weekend, at a very reasonable (wedding) price. It is not the type of venue where we had 12 hours to enjoy our big day, but instead had the whole weekend with friends and family to mark it for the special occasion it is.
The venue itself offers something very unique and personal. The house is truly stunning and a standout, with a rich history that is on full display, you really feel that you are staying at a Manor House and not a hotel.
We come from a farming background ground and the temptation was to set up a marquee in a field and host it ourselves. But we fell in love with the house and the promise of an easy yet unforgettable weekend. Not only this but we were not beholden to the British weather (though our day was gorgeous) as the house and church held all the guests we wanted. However, with the weather so nice the guest got to enjoy the beautiful gardens. We had a ceilidh (Scottish dance) in the main hall which was spectacular. The different rooms meant there was a place for everyone as people were able to chat in the library, eat in the dinning room, dance in the main hall and drink at the bar. More to say about the incredible bedrooms, the chapel and more but you have to go and see it for yourself and with the friendly team it is not hard.
So whatever you want, be it a fully organised wedding ready to go or one that you can add as many personal touches you wish, Berwick is the place.
