First Wedding Issues
We agreed terms with Leonardslee in the Spring for our Wedding on 1st September 2018. Whilst there was still no marquee in place and work to be done we were assured there were other events and Weddings from May onward and two big parties in the marquee in July so the venue would be 100% ready in ample time. Fast forward 6 months and not a single event had taken place, having been postponed or cancelled. The venue was still a building site with no patio a house with no furniture and a marquee just been erected with no drapes/lights etc. The Stress levels over the final few weeks were horrendous and we had to look at a 'plan B' just 2 weeks out! The patio was still being laid the day before the wedding and paint still be applied to the toilet walls the morning of the wedding!! On the day thankfully the sun shone and we had a great day, but there were issues. The attitude of a number of their staff (Not Katrien the main coordinator) was frankly appalling. With the issues we had I withheld a few thousand £ of the £7,000 booking fee. On the day before the wedding the 'manager' approached my wife to be and said that unless final payment had been made the wedding could not take place! You have to use the family 'Benguela' wines and average Sparkling at £20 a bottle so it is not cheap. There are just a few (v expensive) caterers to choose from and a £1000 additional charge to use another. The venue is undoubtedly beautiful and the views superb but the attitude of the team and the way we were dealt with was dreadful, particularly when we were their FIRST wedding!!Sent on 11/10/2018
