Excellent and laid back, relaxed service

Thank you for taking the stress out of organising our wedding. Everything was seamlessly booked and dealing with Rob at Merchants was amazing from start to finish and responding to all my last-minute panicked emails towards the ceremony date! He kept me reassured and happy that everything was on track and it was such a relief. Beautiful venue which was impressive but low key in equal measure.

Beautiful Venue

Stunning venue, which didn't need decorations. The team were helpful on the day and in the days leading up to the wedding.

Perfect setting

If you want a little history and character in your day this is the perfect venue. You also get quite free reign to run the day how you’d like it so if you don’t want a conveyor belt wedding this is your place. And so central that your guests can stay anywhere in York.

Historic medieval hall in the centre of York

June 2012 - We had our evening meal and ceilidh here. Truly a stunning location for dinner in an ancient hall and a large area for sitting and dancing downstairs. Hidden treasure in central York that has beautiful, well-maintained riverside gardens. Absolutely recommend it for couples who want an original and historic location.
