Historic Wedding Venues in Yorkshire & Humberside

It was a very beautiful venue and so happy we got the chance to get married there! The only thing is that for the reception hall we used, we were that the extra chairs and tables that were stacked at the back in the corner would be moved on the day of our wedding but the day before, we were told that they could not move them and they would be there for the whole reception. Wish that would have been much clearer when we first visited the venue. The food was good but some parts were dry. Not sure if it’s because it started a little later than planned so the food was cooked earlier than when we did initially eat.

We wanted to have our wedding at a venue full of history and character and we fell in love with the Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York as soon as we saw it. We couldn't believe that having our wedding at this beautiful 600 years old building was so affordable. Although, it's in the heart of York, the Merchant Adventurers' Hall offers privacy. It has 2 spacious halls (one upstairs and one downstairs) and, if this is not enough, it has a huge private garden. Many of our guests complimented our choice of venue and said it's stunning. However, we are even more impressed with the Merchant Adventurers' Hall team. They offered us an exceptional service from the first visit through making sure that all on our wedding day is running smoothly, and until the day after the wedding when we came to collect our last few boxes. They were super helpful and flexible. They gave us a friendly advice and responded to all our requests. We really can’t thank them enough for making our special day so magical.

We had our wedding at Ponden Mill in August and we had the most amazing day. The staff are all incredible, a particular shout out to Elkie for answering all of our (many!) emails in the run up to the day and to Francesca for being so calm and accommodating on the set up day. These ladies also went above and beyond on the wedding morning, ensuring I was calm and happy with everything and also ensuring we were able to have our dream outdoor ceremony, despite heavy rain an hour before our vows! The venue is stunning and we have had so many compliments about the food - a big thank you to The Outside Kitchen too! The day ran seamlessly and every member of staff we came across was professional, friendly and hard working. We would not hesitate in recommending this venue to others and we wish we could do it all again! Thank you Ponden, what a team you have!

I can honestly say if I could do it all again I would choose The Mirfield Monastery as my venue. The grounds are amazing, the food was mouth watering and the staff went above and beyond to make our day special. We received so many compliments from our family and friends about the venue and food, we all had a brilliant day.

We loved our day at Woodlane. All of our guests commented how beautiful the venue was. It totally suited out style, we wanted a laid back day where people could enjoy and be themselves. It is a DIY venue when it comes to arranging decorations, catering etc. We paid for the room switchover which was well worth it. We had a BBQ for our wedding breakfast followed by a pizza oven in the evening. I managed most of the suppliers, but Woodlane did get in touch with them prior to the day to make final arrangements. David was our main contact throughout the booking process and he was very at ease from booking through to us collecting our things the day after our wedding. We did book January 2020 for May 2022 so we ended up with a good deal and COVID restrictions had lifted so we fell lucky with our date. I'd recommend this venue to anyone who wants a laid back vibe, and has the time and ability to plan their own day.

We had the most magical wedding day at Temple Newsam yesterday. We were lucky enough to be the first couple to marry in The Picture Gallery and wow, what an amazing setting it was for such an important event. All our guests were stunned and commented on how beautiful the venue was. As for the wedding itself, Josh and his team have been absolutely amazing! Right from when we had an initial show round all the way through to saying goodbye to us as we left, they were flawless. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they made everything run like clockwork. We’ve always enjoyed visiting Temple Newsam but now it holds and extra special place in our hearts. I have absolutely no problem recommending Temple Newsam as a wedding venue, they were honestly amazing! 💫
