A Wedding in a 'not so' Winter Wonderland!!
By Danny and Andy McKeown-Henshall, on 03 Mar 2019Date of Wedding - 23 Feb 2019
A perfect venue, a perfect weekend and yes, perfect staff. We planned a Wedding in a Winter Wonderland but got beautiful Feb sunshine!! Jo as our coordinator on the weekend was incredible from start to finish, other staff such as Jim, Dan, Mike, Costina and Robi to name but a few. A diverse mix of wonderful characters all of whom played an integral part in our wedding.
Food was amazing - all guests complimenting the dishes and service was always swift. Nothing was to much trouble.
The building itself is incredible - all the rooms were perfect and every detail was attended to.
Broadoaks - you brought our dream to life! Thankyou.

We booked Broadoaks exclusive use package and spent the whole weekend in the most excellent hotel surrounded by attentive, happy to help staff.
Our big day was 4th August 2018 and it was everything we dreamt of and more.
We live outside of the U.K. And I spent months trying to plan via email. The events staff where so patient and understanding, in particular a wonderful lady called Jo. We where met with smiles and calm on the Friday and was instantly made to feel at ease. Nothing was too much to ask.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the surrounding gardens where breathtaking. Every room has a different feel and the honeymoon suite is fabulous. Our wedding party was 100 people in total, 24 of which where children. They where catered for so well and never made to feel in the way.
I had my heart set on an outdoor wedding and thankfully the weather was glorious. The main room set up for the wedding breakfast was perfect and having over run on the speeches the staff pushed everything back a little to ensure the evening ran smoothly and didn't feel rushed. I cannot recommend Broadoaks enough for anyone wanting the perfect setting for thier special day.
The most amazing & magical day

Where to start from the moment we drove up the beautiful drive we were blown away, Broadoaks has such a homely feel that instantly makes you feel part of the place. Little Jo was our wedding planner she made us feel like nothing was too much trouble she was amazing. Our day was not like normal weddings as we were wanting a more relaxed and informal wedding, Jo was fantastic with helping to plan our day, it was definitely a tailor made package with a difference. We booked Glen Anderson as our wedding singer and David Goodier Photographer from their approved suppliers and we were not disappointed they were fantastic. During our day & time spent there all the staff went that extra mile nothing was too much trouble. We chose the BBQ option and it was amazing and every guest commented on it. We loved having the venue exclusive to ourselves. I really felt like our day was important to them. I would do it all again if I could & I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Little Jo & the Broadoaks Family xxx
Thank everyone who made our big day truly magical.

You’re ALL real life superheroes!! Every member of staff working at the hotel did their utmost to make sure everything ran as smoothly as possible - above and beyond any level of customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. You really have something special, don’t ever change!
Chris our photographer was such a trooper for getting there and making us feel so comfortable. I’ve only seen one photo so far but it’s stunning and I cannot wait to see the rest. The lady who did the photo booth during the evening reception did a great job of keeping the guests entertained when they weren’t on the dance floor.
John Penn, a complete diamond who tried his hardest to ensure he got to the wedding. He created such an amazing atmosphere and made it completely unforgettable. I know I’m biased but it was the best party I’ve ever been to!
Yvonne and her partner from Ambiance were so lovely. They made Broadoaks look spectacular - and so sparkly which looked stunning alongside the winter wonderland theme!
Jo and Lisa who did my hair and makeup were so lovely and reassuring. They really helped keep me together when we were still uncertain if the registrar was going to make it. The saying ‘the show must go on’ was certainly fitting for our day and they embodied that motto so well.
Our registrar has never met us before, but called in so many favours to make sure he got to the venue on time to marry us. Without him, the other registrar and the lovely gents from Cumbria fire and rescue service there would be no wedding at all. For their kindness we’ll be forever grateful.

Whilst most of the country was under the grip of the beast from the east my family were making the drive to this lovely hotel. From arrival to departure the staff went above and beyond any level of customer service I’ve ever experienced. My wedding co-ordinator Darren ensured everything went off without a hitch, as we’d planned during our meetings beforehand. He’d really taken the time to understand our requirements. On the big day so much snow had fallen there was a real possibility of the wedding not going ahead. My hair and makeup girls couldn’t make it through. But I needn’t have worried because the hotel had everything covered with the help of their in house 4x4. Another hair and makeup supplier were sourced within an hour, and by some miricle the rest of the suppliers also made it one by one. The registrar also got a lift to the venue through the kindness of Cumbria fire and reacue service - so our wedding crisis was averted! From that point onwards everything went perfectly. Following the dramas of the morning all the staff at Broadoaks really made sure myself and my husband Damon were able to relax and enjoy the rest of our day. Everyone was so friendly which makes a massive difference to the atmosphere created on the day. It almost felt as if they were enjoying the day as much as we were! The snow itself made the hotel look even more picturesque and magical than it did without. This meant we were able to capture some breathtaking photos in and around the hotel grounds. A true fairytale wedding - I couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. If your in any doubt about booking Broadoaks- I’d attend one of their regular wedding fayres. Hope this helps!!
The most amazing day

Where to start from the moment we drove up the beautiful drive we were blown away. Jo was so amazing and we were totally refreshed by her open honest approach and enthusiasm. From the ups and downs of planning the wedding Broadoaks helped wedding plan and even counsel us up until the big day. My husband had huge anxiety about the big day and they couldn’t do enough to support us. Every member of staff went that extra mile. The food was amazing and every guest commented on it. Having it exclusivity meant it felt so personal. Despite the fact that they clearly have a lot of weddings I really felt like our day was important to them. I would do it all again if I could. We also now have the most amazing hotel to revisit for anniversaries.

My husband and I got married at Broadoaks and hired the venue for the weekend. From start to finish ourselves and our guests were made to feel welcome and the whole event felt informal and relaxed - just how we wanted it. The food was absolutely out of this world and on the arrival night in particular, the size of the portions were fantastic. Our wedding breakfast was a four course gourmet meal which was just stunning and extremely filling. Quite a few of our guests told us it was the best wedding breakfast they’d ever had. The staff made sure everything ran smoothly and without issue, they couldn’t have done anymore for us. The house itself is beautiful and the grounds and views breathtaking - we had a fantastic stage for photographs that’s for sure! We stayed in the retreat which is separate from the main house, it’s luxurious and very beautiful and also comes with two lovely sunken baths - one inside and one out! The other rooms are all different, with an individual quirky feature in each, all of our guests loved them. We’d highly recommend anyone to get married here, it really was a magical experience.

"We had the pleasure of getting married at Broadoaks this January, and words cannot explain how perfect our day was! Finding the venue online, we decided to view and we fell in love immediately. Broadoaks is a home away from home. Its log fires and cosy rooms are the perfect setting for a winter wedding.
We booked a 2 day event, starting on the Friday. The wedding team were so helpful through the preparations, replying to our stressed emails, inviting us for regular meetings and holding our hands through the process! We knew we would be in good hands on the day, and we was not disappointed!
The day went without any problems at all. Jo guided us through the day, ensuring our suppliers arrived and everything was set up and ready for the ceremony with Dan guiding us through the evening. They were both fantastic!
The venue was decorated beautifully, the rooms were perfect for a close family wedding and the memories we made will last a lifetime. I could not recommend Broadoaks enough. From a wedding, to a weekend away or even just an afternoon tea, you won't be disappointed!
Thank you Broadoaks!

We saw Broadoaks on an online search and went to visit and meet with one of the wedding planners. We decided there and then that we were definitely getting married there.
The hotel itself is truly special. Beautiful building and grounds, and then each bedroom has its own character, but they’re all stunning in their own way.
The staff are amazing. So accommodating and helpful. You really get the impression that it’s more than just a job for them - they do everything they can to make sure your stay/wedding is exactly as you want it. No detail was too big or too small for them.
The food for our wedding breakfast was out of this world. We’ve been married a week now and our guests keep mentioning the food to us! Our guests also keep saying they’ll be back. And so will we.
I’m so happy we chose Broadoaks for our special day because it was perfect. And the staff even got us a beautiful wedding gift that we will treasure.
I can’t recommend this place enough for whatever stay/event you’re considering. It won’t let you down.

I got married here NYE 2017 and the whole weekend was the most magical experience of my life. Myself and all our guests were treated like royalty throughout our weekend stay and nothing was ever too much. The food was DIVINE and the portion sizes were more than plenty - every single guest said how amazing the food was! The venue itself is simply stunning regardless of the weather but it is the fabulous staff that make this place truely the best!
The food was to die for

We were lucky to be part of a recent wedding held at Broadoaks just before Christmas. Our son Jeff Billington and Beth Helsby were married there on 22nd December. We had 3 rooms for 2 nights booked and I am writing to say how much we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The place itself is very nice and all the rooms that we saw were tremendous. The housekeeping was spot on and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. We have to thank ALL the staff who were extremely helpful , polite , friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The food was “ to die for “ , so tasty and the quality of it all was great. My sister is a coeliac and has to eat gluten free. She was so happy at the way that she was taken care of with her meals. She wasn’t expecting the evening buffet to have anything for her but was pleasantly surprised when someone searched her out and produced her own little buffet. She cannot sing your praises enough as so can’t we.
The whole experience of the 3 day’s that we were there was so relaxing and pleasant and we hope that in the future we will visit again and maybe for afternoon tea.
We will be happily recommending yourselves to anyone that we can.
Thank you so much.
Sue and John Billington.
The Best Wedding Venue
By Manchester Chic, on 31 Jan 2018Date of Wedding - 22 Dec 2017
Well upon falling upon Broadoaks after my Aunty shared a link on Facebook I booked an impromptu meeting with a wedding coordinator while my husband to be was still working away. On his return I informed him we were to take a trip to the Lakes to look at a venue. Him being of the obliging type agreed. So off we went on our little day trip, as we drove onto the driveway we were blown away. We look at eachother with big grins on our faces. After our meeting with the lovely Jo we came away thinking this was too good to be true. We were given available dates for 2018 and went away to ponder... Well it was all too long of a wait so decided to book it for 28 December 2017 (our 2 year anniversary), it just seem right. We were guided all the way by Jo who is brilliant and then we were assigned Vicki to be our co-ordinator on the day.
Well quite simply the wedding was more than we had dreamed of. All the staff were amazing. Our guests had nothing but high praise for everyone. We had the most amazing day and night and can honestly say it was the best day of our lives.
The wonderful Vicki and then Dan the Events manager were just brilliant. Taking care of everything.
I really can't praise the whole team enough.
Beautiful Venue, stunning views, brilliant staff.
