Simple Plus Size Wedding Dresses

1. Bardi Simple Satin Plus size Wedding Dress - Approx £2,053, Aesling

Plus size wedding dress made from white satin with mesh sleeves

Hugging your curves in all the right places, the Bardi dress from Aesling was made for strutting down the aisle. The sweet crimped tulle cap sleeves add a feeling of romance and chicness to the design and is lined with Italian stretch fabric ensuring a snug and flattering fit. The option to add or remove the mesh sleeves is completely up to you!

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: This design, like many Aesling styles, comes in crepe or satin so you have the choice of two gorgeous fabrics. The 65-inch train is gorgeous in our opinion, but for a really simple wedding dress look you may want a seamstress to tailor it down.

2. Parker Square Neckline Plus Size Wedding Dress - Approx £2,119, Truvelle

Plus size wedding dress with square neckline and pockets

The Parker curvy wedding dress exudes romance from every angle. It’s filled with gorgeous details that we just love, from the flattering square neckline and lace detailing to the illusion back and sophisticated silhouette.

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: This is a wedding dress with pockets, we repeat, this dress has pockets! The illusion back means you would need to wear a backless bra, however Truvelle wedding dresses offer maximum support so you may feel comfortable going without any bridal lingerie. Make sure you browse our edit of the most beautiful plus size wedding lingerie for later, though.

3. Marion Sleeveless Plus Size Wedding Dress - Approx £1,981, Aesling

Plus size wedding dress with chiffon balloon sleeves

When done right, simple plus size wedding dresses can compete with the most elaborate of designs and that’s certainly the case with Marion. This figure-hugging V-neckline wedding dress is so sophisticated.

The deep neckline allows you to show off a bit more skin and is a great choice if you’re after a sexy wedding dress. The plus size version of this dress has a higher back and extra boning to ensure you feel completely secure.

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: This design comes with the option to add on sleeves and you have the choice of puff sleeves, mesh cuffs or a bishop sleeve with a bow at the wrist. There is extra boning in the bodice for added security and structure - make sure you practise sitting in it so you can be sure it's comfortable for you.

4. Rose Floral Plus Size Wedding Dress - Approx £1,854, Truvelle

Plus size wedding dress with mesh panel and block lace

Lace wedding dresses tend to have a lot going on - not that that’s a bad thing - but it’s not for everyone. One thing we love about the Rose plus size wedding gown is the way it showcases a gorgeous floral lace pattern whilst still maintaining a simplistic overall look. The silhouette is really flattering giving you lots of support on the bodice and plenty of movement in the full skirt.

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: Though the neckline is fairly low, the team at Truvelle have thought of everything and added a mesh insert giving the illusion of a V-neckline without having to risk a slip! This is ideal if you're looking for a wedding dress for a bigger bust.

5. Ada Plunge Plus Size Wedding Dress - £POA, Roz La Kelin

Plus size wedding dress with illusion neckline and thick straps

Roz La Kelin's Ada makes for such an elegant wedding day look, with a fresh, contemporary finish. The jersey fabric gives a really sleek silhouette and the dress is fastened at the back with a zipper.

Sizing: US 12 - US 44 (UK 16 - UK 48)

Pros & Cons: This plus size wedding dress is made from jersey material making it much more comfortable than other, more structured wedding dresses. Due to the plunge illusion neckline, it may be difficult to wear a conventional bra. If you feel like you need a bit of extra support you may want a seamstress to sew something in or alter an existing bra.

6. Kaslo Illusion Back Plus Size Wedding Dress - Approx £1,981, Truvelle

Plus size wedding dress with illusion back lace detail and full skirt

The detail on this plus size wedding dress is to die for - just look at that intricate lace work on the back of the Kaslo design! The A-line silhouette is super flattering and will flow beautifully when you walk down the aisle or twirl on the dance floor. There’s something really romantic about lace details like the ones on this design.

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

7. Hadid Off the Shoulder Plus Size Wedding Dress - Approx £, Aesling

Plus size wedding dress with off the shoulder folded straps and A-line skirt

Classic and effortlessly beautiful, the simplicity of this plus size wedding gown speaks for itself. The folded sleeves on the Hadid dress create a beautiful V-neckline and also leave plenty of room to showcase your gorgeous wedding jewellery.

At the back, the dress is fastened with a zip and gorgeous satin buttons - it’s all in the details. The A-line silhouette just skims your figure and gives much more room for movement than a fit and flare gown or fishtail wedding dress.

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: The hip and waist lines have been altered to fit curvy bodies perfectly - the team at Aesling are all about support! The simplicity in design may not feel special enough for some plus size ladies, but some glam accessories or a gorgeous bridal headband will soon resolve that.

8. Perla Halterneck Plus Size Wedding Dress - £POA, Morilee

Plus size wedding dress with lace halterneck

We do love halterneck wedding dresses, and Morilee's Perla is such a fine example. Just look at that pearl-beaded neckline and the frosted lace appliqués - enchanting. The scalloped lace on the bottom of the dress is so beautiful and this design can be bought in white, ivory or ivory rose which has just a hint of pink to it.

Sizing: 16W - 32W

Pros & Cons: This plus size lace wedding dress can be bought in three different lengths (55", 58" and 61") which is super helpful because shortening a wedding dress with a scalloped hem can be expensive as your seamstress will have to unpick the lace, shorten the dress and then re-attach it.

9. Winslow Plus Size Wrap Wedding Dress - £285, Reformation

Plus size wrap wedding dress chiffon

Reformation are known for designs that blend sexiness and sophistication, and their Winslow dress is no exception. The champagne hue is a softer alternative to white and the wrap detail is the perfect style to really show off the stunning satin fabric.

Perfect for those after a simple wedding dress, this style is also available in emerald green, nude floral or black and gold florals making it a great option for satin bridesmaid dresses as well.

Sizing: 1X, 2X, 3X

Pros & Cons: The tie waist means you can adjust this plus size wedding dress to ensure a perfect fit. Wrap dresses can sometimes gape around the bust so you may want to have a seamstress pin it or wear an underlay if you're concerned about showing too much cleavage.

10. Lydia Chiffon A-Line Plus Size Wedding Dress - £POA, Halseene

Plus size wedding dress with chiffon skirt and lace back

While the overall look of Halseene's Lydia is gorgeous, it's the little touches we particularly appreciate here - such as spaghetti straps that are just that bit wider than usual, so they don't dig in. Genius.

Sizing: US 14 - US 36 (UK 18 - UK40)

Pros & Cons: The chiffon A-line skirt allows for plenty of movement and the thick spaghetti straps ensure much more comfort than their thinner counterparts. Halseene dresses come with an order time of 20+ weeks so ensure you leave plenty of time for delivery and any potential alterations.

Plus size wedding dress with strapless neckline and floral bousson sleeves

We’re completely in love with the sleek silhouette on the Pandora gown from Canadian bridal designers Truvelle. The strapless neckline scoops high under the arms ensuring every inch of you feels secure and we just love the slit in the skirt - it’s perfect for added movement and volume.

The design also comes with detachable mesh floral sleeves if you want to have two looks for the price of one.

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: Truvelle offer customisation meaning you can add and remove details of your wedding dress and create something completely bespoke - how cool is that? The standard order time for a design like this is 20+ weeks - you can get this design delivered within five weeks but there is an extra charge for this, so if you're in a hurry, factor this into your wedding budget

12. Morgan Satin Plus Size Wedding Dress With Sleeves - Approx £2,048, Aesling

Plus size wedding dress with V-neckline and mesh sleeves

Both sexy and sophisticated, we love the proportions and textures on the Morgan plus size wedding dress. The sultry satin glistens beautifully and has a chic sheen to it, while the crimped tulle sleeves add a unique element to the design. We love the way the silhouette of the dress skims the hips - it’s so flattering.

Sizing: UK 4 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: The sleeves are fitted and translucent, meaning you get the benefits of a long sleeved plus size wedding dress without having to feel completely covered up. Also, the crimped tulle leaves you room to breathe so you won’t feel too warm in this gown.

These wedding sleeves are gorgeous, but they’re also very delicate so be careful not to catch it on any wedding accessories or sparkly bridesmaid dresses

13. Maya Balloon Sleeve Plus Size Wedding Dress - £170, ASOS Edition

Plus size wedding dress made from chiffon in Grecian style

The Maya dress is part of the ASOS bridal collection and at less than £200 it’s really reasonable for such a stand-out wedding look. This plus size bridal gown really embraces the Grecian style. Its floaty nature and unique balloon sleeves are so whimsical and pretty.

Sizing: UK 16 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: The off the shoulder wedding dresses can be tricky to wear but ASOS have made it easy for you with a spaghetti strap to ensure your dress doesn’t slip down. They also offer next day delivery and free returns so you can play around with sizes and other styles.

Add a bit of sparkle to your wedding day with the Nola dress from ASOS. This sparkly plus size wedding dress with sleeves will glisten under the lights on the dance floor at your wedding. The sequin embellishments have been arranged in thin stripes creating a really flattering and beautiful finish. The plunging neckline is sexy and fun and we love the wrap style.

Sizing: UK 16 - UK 30

Pros & Cons: The long sleeves and sparkly finish make this plus size wedding dress perfect for a winter wedding - it could even work as a wedding reception dress and be worn again after the wedding. The sequins on this dress may catch on other things so be gentle.

15. Kim Balloon Sleeve Plus size Wedding Dress - £POA, Studio Levana

Wrap over plus size wedding dress with balloon sleeves

There's something very Old Hollywood and glamorous about this wedding dress from Studio Levana, which features beautiful draping across the bodice. See more striking puff sleeve wedding dresses here.

What's more, you won't have to worry about slippage when it comes to the neckline - the gorgeous puff sleeves are secured with a structured strap and the support of the corset means risk of the dress slipping is an impossibility!

Sizing: Dependent on stockists

Pros & Cons: The stunning balloon sleeves give you coverage on your arms if you prefer a sleeve, whilst still offering that strapless neckline feel.

The slit at the front of the dress comes up fairly high so depending on your height, it may feel a little revealing - however Studio Levana offer custom alterations, as would any seamstress of your own. You could have the slit shortened, altered or closed up altogether - the choice is entirely up to you.

27. Poppy Short Plus Size Wedding Dress - £POA, House of Mooshki

short lace plus size wedding dress

We're calling this super-cute design 'retro meets ballerina'. Sizing: 18-32 (Dependent on stockists)

Pros & Cons: The short hemline on this plus size wedding dress is perfect for showing off your designer wedding shoes and the belt cinches you in at the waist. What is Considered Plus Size in Wedding Dresses?

The team at Lush Curve Bridal are experts in plus size wedding dresses. “For us, a UK18 is where plus size starts but it varies depending on who you speak to, which is unfortunately very confusing for plus size customers. Some shops clarify plus size as UK14 and above so there really isn't an industry standard.

"For us, anyone who wears a size UK18 and up will definitely find dresses they love at our boutique! However, if you're a size UK16 but particularly busty, you might benefit from visiting us as well to try out our magic corseted dresses. Needless to say, plus size and wedding dress sizes will vary depending on the style and brand.”

What Style of Wedding Dress is Best for Plus Size?

“We don't believe that there is a style that is ‘best’ for all plus size brides. That implies that as plus size women, we are all the same and one size fits all. It doesn't. Plus size bodies are the same as smaller bodies, just a little bigger. Some brides have bigger boobs, smaller waists, bigger bums, long legs, petite shoulders, high waists etc.

"Every bride is individual and, because our designs have been carefully selected to enhance curves, there really isn't a one size fits all curvy wedding dress. For hourglass curves, fitted is super flattering. For petite shoulders or shorter bodies, off the shoulder is a great neckline.

"The assumption is that plus size brides should go for a fuller skirt to ‘hide’ their curves and this couldn't be further from what plus size brides should actually be doing. Dress for your body shape, not size.”

Where To Buy Plus Size Wedding Dresses?

There are a number of plus size wedding boutiques that specialise specifically in curvy wedding dresses and bridal gowns for plus size women. This guarantees you a huge amount of choice and gives you lots of options of dresses to try on and discover.

This isn’t to say that other wedding dress shops won’t stock wedding dresses in plus sizes, but most wedding boutiques will discuss options and sizes during an on-the-phone consultation prior to your visit.

Ready to make some trying-on appointments? We asked the experts for their essential rules for plus-size wedding dress shopping.
