Eager to please
By Helen S, on 19 May 2016
Recently held a 50th birthday party for 150 guests in the ballroom upstairs. The Earl were really helpful planning the occasion and the night was a great success. Staff are friendly and eager to please.
The party food was excellent, tasty and hot. Cannot thank the staff enough nothing was too much trouble. The decor in the room is fantastic and we had a great party atmosphere.
Cannot thank the Earl of Doncaster and staff enough. Would highly recommend as a party venue. Thank you.

Just back from another lovely meal. Cannot fault the quality & the staff.
Will be back again soon.
Try the aged beef for Sunday lunch or the mega mix grill. The house red is not too bad for the price.
Inside is pure art deco

Booked through a booking system at work. Hadn't stayed in Doncaster before, don't be fooled by the dated look outside. Inside is pure Art Deco.
Arrived & booking in was quick & easy. Room was gorgeous, big French chic bed very comfy
Have no complaints & would recommend this hotel. & will stay here again.
Staff friendly & it's located close to town and racecourse

Came to the Earl of Doncaster, too see if they could accommodate us, for my mothers Funeral Breakfast. On meeting the delightful Abbigail, who organised everything. With absolute professionalism.
The funeral breakfast was served in the ballroom, Which is Art Deco in style, just up my mothers street.
The food served was outstanding, with the lovely serving staff, being very discreet but always replenishing.
The Earl and all staff have been a credit, in a very difficult time. It was truly outstanding.
Sincere thanks to all concerned. Some family also stayed over, and they complemented the rooms, they were staying in.
Would highly recommend, and once again, Sincere Thanks to all concerned.

Me and my husband came for the Valentine's ball with Barry White tribute act
Upon arrival we where greeted by a very welcoming receptionist.
Once we got to our room(the junior suite) it was more than we expected very clean and had everything we need. Upon arrival to the ball we where great my a staircase beautifully lite by candles and and dressed in rose petals then we where greeted by a lovely young man who gave us a complementary glass of fizz and the men where offered larger as an alternative(if wanted) and we walked through the doors into the ballroom to 'WOW' a sea of romance all the tables in red white and black and again candles and rose petals
We where served a beautiful 4 course meal
Our waiter was very polite, efficient and helpful.
All our food was warm and served in just enough time between courses
Then the entertainment 'fabulous' he had the whole room up on the dance floor
Once finished the In house disco came on again the dance was was alive with couple dancing great much
And over all a fantastic evening I cannot find fault with one thing.
One of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time extra comfy bed so peaceful within the hotel.

A table of 9 enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea here this week.
The sandwiches were lovely, fresh bread with generous fillings. Scones and cakes delicious with generous amounts of jam and cream. A constant supply of tea was also provided.
I cannot fault the staff, surroundings and food. The efficiency and friendliness of all staff was second to none. All staff from reception to waitresses to kitchen staff all helped to make a special Birthday extra special. Well done and thank you
A 1970s Themed Ruby Wedding Anniversary Bash
By Daren S, on 18 Jan 2016
A great evening in a great place! The art deco hotel provided an atmospheric backdrop to a fantastic evening for a large 70s disco themed ruby wedding anniversary party!
The downstairs bar next to the lobby/check in area is pretty cool in its decoration and styling, a good place for a drink anytime.
Hotel rooms are good, clean and well planned.
The function area was equally art deco cool, spacious enough for the large party of people yet still feeling quite cozy.
The DJ done a good job with his 70s selection of songs! He even played Elton's Crocodile Rock, a classic tune.
Great buffet it was that, the kids loving the tuna sangas and egg mayo sangas they did that!
A much needed and welcomed full English breaky the next day, lovely jubbly.
All in all a great venue cleanliness and art deco style, with attentive staff (one member of the group is diabetic and the bar manager kindly offered up a good sandwich out of the kitchen opening hours as it was a dietary requirement - a nice friendly personal touch) that is worth a visit whatever the reason.

Excellent and central place

I've visited this hotel and restaurant on many occasions over the last few years. I live in the south but the Earl is an excellent and central place for us to visit family who live in the area.
We can only say that each time we have visited it has been excellent. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Our food was delicious on every occasion and my son being a chef and very critical didn't have a bad word to say about it.
I highly recommend people to visit the Earl of Doncaster. People are all to quick to complain but never quick enough to praise.
The staff were wonderful

My elderly mother booked in for xmas day lunch and bed and breakfast, and boxing day buffet. She loved it. (She doesn't have a computer hence my review for her).
The food was superb, and the staff were wonderful and caring in all areas. She wanted to thank them for being so kind to her as a solo resident.
They really work hard to get it spot on

The outside of this hotel does not do it justice so please don't be put off!
The welcome we received at reception was friendly and professional - the décor as you enter the hotel is beautiful, staying there in December also has the added bonus of all the decorations & Christmas trees giving it a very festive feel.
Our room was very spacious and clean and had all the extras - tea & coffee making facilities, plus bottled water, iron, ironing board, toiletries in the bathroom etc. The bed was comfortable and the shower brilliant.
We had a drink at the bar and the young lady serving was very helpful with local information. The hotels location is superb for the town centre & the racecourse.
Although the hotel had a wedding and another entertainment function this did not encroach on the service or our stay.
Breakfast was of a high quality with good service and varied choices.
We would definitely recommend this hotel - they really work hard to get it spot on.
