Increased pricing for Wedding guests staying

Norwood is a beautiful location for a wedding, a venue that has been used in our family for a few occasions now and one that allows, for us, the memory of our own special dates to be added together and united as a family. Our Daughter got married there over the weekend and i have to say that on this occasion Im a little disappointed by the pricing strategy employed by the venue. We experienced a few issues with the pricing and charges related to guests staying at the hotel as part of the wedding party and guests for the wedding itself - various different rates for the same standard of room used, wedding party rooms charged at a premium (£50increase) to the "market rates", rooms that were "complimentary" charged for twice (but fixed later) and nobody seemed to know what had been included in the package or who should pay for what. We also found that quoted prices were then increased when guests paid upon arrival and would only be refunded if the guest could prove quoted pricing. The attitude to this problems was a standard "it was agreed by the bride in the contract" - What was not clear was the intent by the hotel to take advantage of the guests and charge them a premium over normal market rates when the implication was that there was a deal or discount as is traditional for wedding guests.
On a side note, the breakfasts suppled on both days were not particularly child friendly, they ran out of spreads and other child preferred options, bananas were green and inedible as they were not ripe enough to be served to guests - I tasted one myself!
Additionally, a "tab" was put behind the bar and the staff allowed guests (who were greedy) to order triples and other such OTT drinks that used the tab up quickly and meant not all guests got a complimentary drink, including the bride & groom. In future, if someone puts a tab behind the bar, the staff should be advised to make sure that guests are not allowed to take advantage in the way that we experienced.

A great day all in all had by everyone, but a little sour taste left in the mouth because of these issues, and hopefully some lessons to be learned by the hotel for the future.

We cannot fault it.

We had Julie and amiee to book and plan the wedding but on the wedding day itself we had Jordan and he was absolutely amazing and we could not fault a thing with him he was so professional and everything was done as we asked and nothing to too much for him to do, we highly recommend The Norwood Hall me and my husband had an amazing day.

Wonderful Experience

Aimee in particular was brilliant and even came un on her day off when she only got back from Dubai at 10pm the night before as she wanted to be there on our day to make sure it was perfect. Julie was lovely too. Everything ran perfectly from start to finish, food was amazing, decor I had arranged looked perfect, we had a magical time!

Me and my future wife visited hotel in September 2016, fall in love with this place, visited ever since on several times and In January 2017 got married here. Simple as that. food was just amazing no matter what you have chosen. And staff? after couple of minutes you feel you know them ages. All very friendly and helpful. If I ever invite some quests to Aberdeen again-Norwood is number one choice.

Thank you & the whole team at the Norwood that made our weekend & wedding day absolutely perfect.
For the last 6 months every time we have been into the hotel it has been an absolute pleasure, you can tell it's an amazing place because whenever we have been in it's always the same team which is rare in the leisure industry
Both myself & Stuart have stayed in hotels a lot due to work & sometimes can be super critical but on the way home from the wedding we both said the hotel & staff were outstanding we would have changed nothing, I cannot thank you all enough for helping us create the most amazing memories.

The time of our lives...

We had the time of our lives. Everyone was commenting on how lovely you all were. Nothing was to much for you! I even had a lovely member of the reception hold an umbrella for me. Absolutely top class service. Macdonald Norwood Hall and all the staff are amazing. You've made a girl's wedding day dream come true.

A stunning venue

My husband and I had our reception here, September 2011. As soon as I saw this place, I knew it was the one. The wow factor as you come up the drive, with the stunning hotel at the top. My wedding photos are amazing! ( Deeside photographics). We got so much in our package, that saved us a fortune. Table cloths, chair covers, centre pieces, the bridal suite, and four additional hotel rooms, also reduced rates for guests, and some other things too. The food was amazing, four courses. And the hotel was very good at accommodating special dietary requirements, and kids too. The evening buffet was good too, haggis fritters were a big hit! The best thing was, we more or less had the run of the whole hotel, our wedding was the only one on that day, unlike some other venues in the area!
