A historic lakeside wedding venue on the south shore of Rutland Water
Set within five acres of gardens and parkland on the peaceful south shore of Rutland Water, Normanton Park Hotel is one of Rutland’s most romantic places to say “I do”. The hotel sits in the beautifully restored Georgian stable block of the old Normanton estate, with its bell and clock tower still standing proudly over the courtyard. It’s a place where history, countryside and sweeping water views come together for an unforgettable day.
A story that began in the 1700s
In the 18th century, the Heathcote family created a grand house and parkland at Normanton, which later became the seat of the Earls of Ancaster. The hall itself is long gone, but its handsome stable block survived. Today it’s a warm, characterful hotel that has welcomed couples, families and friends for generations, and every corner still has a little of that heritage charm.
Beautiful spaces, one stunning setting

The Perfect Wedding Venue – An Unforgettable Experience at Normanton Park Hotel
From the very beginning of our wedding planning journey, Normanton Park Hotel exceeded all expectations. The entire process was absolutely seamless thanks to the incredible Wayne, the hotel manager, who is truly exceptional at what he does. You can tell instantly that he’s been in the industry for years—his calm, professional presence and ability to keep everything under control made us feel completely at ease from start to finish.
Wayne genuinely goes the extra mile, not only in the lead-up to the big day but especially on the day itself. As the couple getting married, it’s hard to describe how reassuring it is to know you’re in such capable hands. Wayne and his whole team were warm, accommodating, and unbelievably attentive—not just to us, but to every one of our guests.
Our niece and her husband, who run a major corporate events company (organising events at Cheltenham, Henley Regatta, and more), were seriously impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the entire team across the wedding day and the surrounding days. That says it all!
We received endless compliments from guests about the venue itself—it’s stunning. So many made a mini-break out of our wedding, and it’s easy to see why. The setting is breathtaking, with beautiful, varied spaces: the outdoor terrace with views over the lake, the pergola, the conservatory, the indoor and outdoor bars, and the dance floor.
The food on the wedding day was also outstanding. Everything was delicious, perfectly portioned, served all together; so many guests commented on how much they loved it.
If we were to do it all over again, we would choose Normanton Park Hotel every single time. It was the best day of our lives, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for more. We can’t thank Wayne and the team enough and would recommend Normanton Park Hotel without hesitation to any couples looking for the perfect wedding venue.

At the heart of Normanton Park Hotel is Wayne , the hotel’s General Manager, who has been part of the Normanton family for more than 20 years. Over two decades he has welcomed countless couples through the doors beneath the old clock tower, and his passion for making each wedding day feel special has never faded.
Few people know the hotel quite like Wayne. He knows the best spots in the gardens for golden-hour photographs, the perfect moment to gather guests by the lake, and all the little details that turn a lovely day into an unforgettable one. That experience gives couples real peace of mind: whatever they’re dreaming of, he has almost certainly seen it, planned it and made it happen before.
What really sets Wayne apart is how much he cares. He takes the time to get to know each couple, listens to what matters most to them, and is always happy to go the extra mile to add a personal touch. Whether it’s a last-minute request, a surprise for a loved one or simply making sure the drinks are flowing at the right moment, he’ll quietly make sure it’s taken care of.
