The South Casey Inn is a countryside wedding venue situated in Stanley, Durham. Nestled in the heart of the Vale of Durham against the backdrop of the beautiful Beamish Valley, this unique venue offers couples a peaceful and picturesque setting for their special day. This traditional 100-acre estate features four event spaces, each exuding relaxed elegance that is ideal for informal weddings and memorable celebrations.
Facilities and Capacity
The South Casey is home to four distinctive event venues to suit all couples' themes and tastes. The Old Barn is a rustic fairy tale featuring timber accents, vaulted ceiling beams, ambient lighting and polished floors. You can host a romantic ceremony in a separate room here and say "I do" in front of your nearest and dearest. Following this, The Old Barn is transformed for evening receptions for up to 200 people. The Farmhouse features an airy and bright reception space inside the manor house's traditional stone exterior. The Durham Suite has a more modern and luxurious aesthetic and can be decorated to match your style, with muted interiors and timeless accents making it a flexible space for all occasions. This function room has a private bar, access to the scenic gardens, and an elegantly appointed ceremony room. The Beamish Barn is suitable for intimate micro weddings for 40 loved ones, with rustic character and an inviting log fire setting the tone for an evening of fine dining. The Garden Bar is a new addition to the estate and was made for pre-wedding parties and tipples throughout your wedding journey.

South causey inn staff were all very supportive, helpful and filled with positivity towards our wedding. The wedding coordinator (Stacey) massivley exceeded all expectations to make our dream day a reality.

Our perfect day at the perfect venue
Where do I begin?! We had booked The South Causey Inn 2 years in advance. We knew it was the perfect venue for us. Hotel/accommodation on site for our guests and we fell in love with The Old Barn. As soon as we had booked, we were always able to communicate with the venue easily. Each member of the wedding team are so helpful and friendly. Each step was made easy for us to organise and stress - free.
On the wedding day we had Dean as our wedding coordinator. He was THE best. He ensured our whole day ran smoothly; always reassured and checked in with us throughout the day. He was always calm, supportive and we had a great laugh with him.
Our guests enjoyed staying in the hotel, the food and the staff. Couldn't recommend this venue more. Thank you South Causey for making our dream day come true.

The Perfect Wedding Venue
South Causey was the perfect venue for our wedding. We loved that so much came included in the package, which made our lives so much easier in terms of planning the big day. Everyone in the team went above and beyond to make the day special and our wedding coordinator Andrew made sure everything ran smoothly and that we were both happy at all times. Couldn't recommend them enough!

Flawless day!
The staff put both myself and my new *husband* at ease and we felt like guests at our own wedding - this took all the pressure away and everything was just as much a suprise for us as it was for our guests.
Our amazing coordinator, Stacey, was on top of everything and the day ran like clockwork. Everyone told us to expect at least one hiccup on your wedding day. I can safely say we did not have one hiccup all day and everything was flawless! We cannot thank you enough.

The Best Wedding Venue Ever!
We will forever be grateful to South Causey Inn for making our day perfect. Stacey our wedding coordinator was brilliant! She made sure that everything ran smoothly and nothing was ever a bother for her to sort, she even plated up some of the evening food for us to have when we got back to the room because she knew I hadn't had chance to eat any and she also saved me by getting my paracetamol when I got a bad headache mid speeches- so thank you so much Stacey!! I cannot stop raving to everyone and neither can the guests at our wedding about how fantastic every aspect of our day was. From the way the beautiful Durham suite was set up, to the delicious food (big portions sizes, unlike any wedding I have been to! Every meal looked like it had time and care put into it, to make them look and taste amazing), to the DJ and night do in general. Every staff member that worked our wedding was so kind to our guests and put in 100% effort, they even fussed over our dog Bonnie (our ring bearer) which was so lovely. If you are thinking of booking south Causey as your wedding venue, DO IT!! It was the best decision we could have made and such good value for money! Even in the planning phase of the wedding, they made us feel at ease and in the know about every aspect of our big day! Shout out to Steph on the wedding team who helped us massively on the lead up, with the finer details. Thank you so so much South Causey Inn, we cannot put into words how perfect our day was - Love Mr and Mrs Wren ❣️

Perfect day
The South Causey is a fantastic wedding venue. From our first contact with the wedding team they were brilliant. Our coordinator on the day was Lauren and she made sure everything ran perfectly. We didn't have our ceremony until 3:30pm so had a pretty tight timeline between arriving, ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception. Lauren and the team made sure that the rooms were turned around seamlessly and with perfect timing. Everything was taken care of, even down to boxing some food up from the buffet and taking it to our room for us in the knowledge that we probably wouldn't get a chance to have any otherwise. We were back at the Causey the next night for a meal with friends and Lauren went out of her way to come and talk to us to check how the day had gone and if there was anything else she could do for us. The venue itself was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. We had our wedding in the Durham suite which was a perfect size for us and our 60 day time guests.

Amazing, from booking our venue, to our special day and every time we visit!
We absolutely love the South Causey so it was a no brainer on choosing it as our wedding venue. We chose the stunning old barn as our venue when we viewed it at Christmas, it was done out beautifully with Christmas trees, sparkly lights and gave that lovely cosy Christmassy feel. We were planning on a big wedding and the old barn was a room that could accommodate this. We met with Andrew our wedding coordinator for our wedding meetings and because he was so great and attentive we requested he be the wedding coordinator for our big day. We were over the moon when he was able to! He couldn’t have been anymore amazing, I don’t know how I would have managed the day without him he kept us right from start to finish and waited on us hand and foot! The whole day was so organised. He greeted us from the wedding cars with a drink, had set up the room just the way we wanted it, and had everything sorted from start to finish. Andrew had checked us into our room for the night so we didn’t have to worry about that, had sorted putting our bags in there so we didn’t have to leave our guests to do so, and he even collected my flat shoes from the room when my feet were so sore from wearing heels all day. He went over and beyond what we expected of him and we will remember and appreciate how special he made our big day and would highly highly recommend him and this beautiful venue to everyone!!! We already knew the food and drink at the south causey never fails so we knew our guests would eat and drink well, which of course they did! Everyone commented on how good the food was the main meal and then the buffet on the evening. We had the south causey in house DJ who did not disappoint or fail to get everyone up on the dance floor! A great day and night was had by all and will never be forgotten!

30.09.23 Old Barn
We had our wedding in the old barn 30/09/23. The day was perfect from start to finish and ran so smoothly. Even if there was any set backs things were sorted promptly and resolved, nothing was allowed to over shadow our day at all . The room was exactly how we imagined and all attention to details were made . We can’t thank Lauren enough. She communicated excellently pre , during and after the wedding . And it was like we had known her much longer than we had ! She assured all details were in place and checked in throughout the day . Also thank you to Morgan who again was approachable and super helpful from getting the bride to the venue to getting us back to our room and everything in between, including taking photos and making sure we got them to . They both will always be remembered as part of our special day.
The food was unbelievable and again we had so many compliments. Such a good variety and all dietary requirements tailored to .
The bridal party stayed in the duck house the night before and it just made the experience even more special , all our guests who stayed over night and came to our wedding had nothing but good things to say after .
We are so glad we picked South Causey as our wedding venue it was everything we wanted and more and can’t wait to return for our one year anniversary later this year . Thank you again.

The most perfect venue for everyone!
Me and my now husband viewed quite a few wedding venues, but as soon as we walked into The Old Barn we just knew it was THE venue for us! Not just because of it's beautifully decorated venues, but for how helpful, friendly and welcoming the staff were.
We wanted a venue where we had minimal to organise and pay for in addition to the venue cost itself, the South Causey absolutely offer this package, with their beautiful range of centre pieces, already decorated venues (no need to add anything extra!), sweet cart, DJ and the black jack / Casino table was a hit with our guests, winning a free overnight stay in one of their amazing hot tub suites! 😍
Not many venues offer a multiple choice for the wedding breakfast, but the South Causey do! We received so many compliments from our guests at how delicious the food was!
Our wedding coordinator Andrew, was truly amazing at what he does - the day couldn't have went any smoother! Andrew checked in with both me and my husband on the morning of the wedding, and encouraged the little ones to walk down the aisle so well, he just took all those little stresses away from me and the wedding party!
The rooms / suites are beautiful, clean and comfortable! We loved the little touches of decorated desserts with we'll wishes from the team to welcome us to our rooms , and the complimentary charcuterie board on the 2nd night of our stay.
For us, the little things make a difference - the South Causey 100% delivered and we are still so grateful to Andrew and the rest of the team! We can't thank them all enough ❤️

Amazing wedding venue!
We have just celebrated our wedding in the Durham Suite at South Causey Inn and we absolutely loved every minute of it! Our wedding coordinator Lauren, went above and beyond and nothing was too much trouble. The organisation shown was brilliant.
Staff members Morgan & Lee were also a credit to the venue on our day. Outstanding service and everything ran smoothly. Considering it rained all day on our wedding day, you would never have even noticed. It was so much fun, guests loved it and commented on how much they enjoyed the day and plenty of space indoors.
Every single member of staff we have encountered throughout the planning of our wedding and on our day were fantastic. You can tell this is a venue that takes pride in their customer service and the customer experience. Little personal touches in the bedrooms are lovely, the cleaners really look after the rooms.
The value for money here is also phenomenal compared to other venues and I really think South Causey have nailed all the little details that should be included, which other venues do not give you. They provide all the table dressing, post box for your cards, a fantastic choice of food for your guests, an overnight stay both on the wedding night and another time when you do food tasting. There’s just lots of little things they sort for you, which otherwise would be a big stress and I really don’t think you get such value for money elsewhere. All the wedding venues are also incredibly beautifully decorated in general so there really isn’t much for any bride/groom to bring in.
I don’t think I can even write a review good enough to describe how fantastic this place is! If we could do it all over again we would!

It’s no wonder the South Causey have won awards, our wedding ran absolutely flawlessly! The wedding packages are amazing and take away so much stress when planning! The venues are all absolutely stunning but the Old Barn is just so beautiful! The staff were all so professional and amazing. Andrew our wedding coordinator was perfect! He made me feel at ease when my nerves starting to kick in. Any problem he was able to handle and he gave the best advice. He went above and beyond and made sure it was the perfect day for us, what a hard worker! We had the best day and wish we could do it all over again!

Outstanding from start to finish.
Can’t recommend this venue enough, or Andrew as our wedding coordinator. The food was unbelievable and everyone commented on this. The deco of the barn was breathtaking and all inclusive within the package. I felt very special and support from the day we booked this and literally couldn’t ask for any more.

The perfect wedding
What a place 😍 We were fortunate enough to have our wedding at The Old Barn @ South Causey on 22nd July, and what a perfect decision we made.
The entire South Causey team were sensational; helpful all day, no request was too much, patient with any ‘interesting’ ideas we had, and the perfect hosts for our special day.
I cannot post a review without a special mention for our wedding coordinator though! Throughout the process, the entire wedding team and accommodation team were the perfect professionals, and helped us bring our vision to life… but the lengths Dean went to in order to make our day perfect for us, that was something we could only have dreamed of! Dean is so well organised, so calm during the chaos, and exactly what we needed in a wedding coordinator with all the crazy, out-there ideas we had for our big day. I honestly don’t think we could’ve got through the process without him. If you read this Dean, you’re a star and we cannot thank you enough for all you did for us!! You deserve a massive rest, and an even bigger medal!
Thank you to the entire staff at South Causey for making our wedding exactly what we dreamed it would be.

Beautiful venue + Amazing staff
From the moment we booked this venue it was a dream. Everyone is so friendly and the attention to detail is phenomenal. We had our wedding in the Tanfield Suite followed by our reception in the Durham Suite. Every moment was FLAWLESS. The day went without a single problem and the rooms were decorated beautifully. A special shoutout to our wedding co-ordinator Andrew, you were simply amazing, so calming in those precious panicking moments before the ceremony and nothing was ever too much to ask. You are amazing at your job and made us all feel very welcome. Thank you so much to the South Causey team who made our day truly beautiful from beginning to end.
