This venue lives up to all its billing. On honeymoon my husband and I stayed in the Treehouse which was just out of this world. The Tower its self is awe inspiring, the location stunning, the Treehouse spell binding, the staff amazing and the food was brilliant. Would without hesitation rush back, well deserving of a 5 star rating

A wonderful wedding venue

Our family spent 3 nights at Ackergill Tower staying in the Stables. Our accommodations at the Stables were great. Three bedroom suites and a large great room with a full kitchen and dining area. There is a slate patio and a wonderful view of the ocean. Each room had a hair dryer, bath robes and a heated floor in the attached bath. The great room has two comfortable sofas and two easy chairs. There is a dining table and chairs and a kitchen complete with coffee maker, small refrigerator, ice maker, dishwasher and plenty of pots, pans, china and assorted wine glasses. Frankly, each of us would have loved to stay for a month! Ackergill Tower has beautiful common areas. Incredible art work adorns the walls, comfortable seating in the parlors and a beautiful great hall. What a fabulous location, right on the ocean.

Unmatchable experience

We stayed for 2 nights in October 2014 to mark a special anniversary. And can not find a single thing to complain about. The castle itself is filled with fascinating artifacts of a long and interesting history. It has been lovingly restored and modernized in a way that allows it to provide 5 star accommodation without losing the feel for staying in a dwelling that has history back to the 15th century. Our room (Dukes) was huge and furnished with many antiques including a canopy bed. It had views both directly to the ocean and along the shoreline. The food was impeccably and deliciously prepared by the kitchen staff. And the service throughout the facility was perfect with staff available when you needed anything but still leaving you with the feeling that you were alone to explore all the rooms in this ancient castle. Our trip in Scotland was 2 weeks and we had a fabulous time but the 2 days at Ackergill were the best by far. We hope to return one day for another and longer stay.

Absolutely Amazing
Venue Service

I booked this wonderful hotel for only one night. When next I visit Scotland, I will book again for an extended period. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. From the tree lined entrance with bunnies and sheep to the amazing seacoast, with the sound of waves and seabirds. I stayed in The Stables--in the Captain Dibble suite, it was very spacious with every amenity you could imagine, cozy bed and spotlessly clean. The hotel staff was so kind and courteous. They accommodated my every need and then some. I can not say enough good things about this awesome establishment and I can not wait to come back again soon with the rest of my family, or at least my husband, so that they too can experience this beautiful, romantic location

Experience of a lifetime
Venue Service

I organized a trip for ten gentlemen to Ackergill Tower to experience 'true Scotland'. The Amazing Venue team (event manager of Ackergill Tower - group of companies) did a splendid job in terms of organization and guidance according to our likings. The property is very well kept, food was great and the options for activities (organized by the hotel) numerous. We engaged in clay pigeon shooting (so much fun), had a BBQ at their hunting house, an unforgettable bonfire at the beach and a gala dinner in kilts. We enjoyed a warm welcome and tour of the property by the GM which was very entertaining and appreciated. All members of staff were forthcoming and even helped us with the kilts as we had no clue how to dress. Stayed August 2014, travelled with friends

A Good Wedding Venue

We had our wedding reception at Ackergill in August 2013. The event went very well and the guests enjoyed the atmosphere commentating that it was one of the best weddings they had been to. From the bride and groom's perspective just about everything was great.

Fabulous Honeymoon
Venue Service

By Tris Trip Advisor Review, on 18 Sep 2014

Just returned from a fantastic honeymoon at this fantastic place! Stunning location, both inside and out, were given a four poster suite with views looking out to sea, great window seat for us to soak in the view. When we stayed the castle was quiet (only a handful of other guests), and pretty much had the pace to ourselves, All credit to the chef, the five course meal was simply five star and we could find no fault, the levels of service were again excellent. We felt looked after from start to finish and nothing we asked was too much trouble, It was good to meet some of the characters that work here, such as Rick and Johnny , Johnny took us clay pigeon shooting in the grounds. Manager Craig, was obviously very proud of his hotel, and his staff and quite rightly so. Keep up the good work all! To sum up a fantastic location to get away from it all, don’t expect much of a phone signal or reliable wi fi, but that is the beauty of Ackergill Tower; forget the world while you are here! Can’t wait to come back in the winter and to see those fires lit!

Wonderful Honeymoon
Venue Service

By Marta, on 06 Nov 2013

Me and my husband decided to spend our honeymoon at Ackergill Tower which turned out to be the best decision ever. We stayed in the Dukes room which had a wonderful view of the sea and the cliffs. The service was excellent and so was the room, castle itself and available facilities. It was a stormy couple of days yet the walks on the empty beach were like nothing we have experienced before. The tea and biscuits brought to our room made this stay very special, as did the delicious breakfast and dinners we had in the dining room. What was, however, most memorable was the private dining experience that has been organised for us in the library (my very favourite room in the castle) on our last night of the week and a bottle of champagne as a gift. Other five star hotels, whether boutique or bigger ones, could not compare to Ackergill Tower. What a treat! Marta B - Stayed November 2012

Great Location, People, Service, Food, Rooms and A

Great Location, People, Service, Food, Rooms and Atmosphere What a wonderful place with a real atmosphere which engages you. We stayed in the Daffodil Suite which was wonderful and a great bed. The turreted bay window was great to sit relax and read. Sound of the sea was terrific. The rooms with log fire roaring were just great. Even though we stayed one night, we were made very welcome with great service. Thank you, we will be back. Clearly, a terrific place for big family parties, corporate events and weddings. Some great stories also! A Trip Advisor - Stayed October 2013

A great castle in the North of Scoland
Venue Service

By A Trip Advisor, on 15 Oct 2013

A little off the beaten path, but certainly worth seeking out. Situated right on a sea cliff, the hotel seems as if it were lifted directly from a movie set - grand staircases, a wood paneled dining room draped with the family banners and portraits, a smoking room with an excellent selection of single malts and cigars.... it's all here. The staff was excellent and the food was (surprisingly) fantastic. An added benefit is that it is very close to the Old Pulteney Distillery, maker of one of Scotland's greatest single malt scotches. Highly recommended. A Trip Advisor - Stayed September 2013

Stay too Short

Only stayed for one night, but a great experience. Very friendly staff; we were given a full tour of the castle on arrival including the tower - we were made to feel at home instantly. Congratulations to the young waitress that climbed those tower stairs to serve us coffee! Breakfast was simple, but very enjoyable. Would like to have stayed longer and explored the local area further, but would definitely recommend a stay here for the service, the location, the rooms and the overall experience. Wonderful Weekend
Venue Service

By A Trip Advisor, on 15 Oct 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights for a friend's wedding. Spectacular location and friendly staff. We stayed in a tower room - Dukes - which was lovely. Stunning view of the sea. The bed was a beautiful carved wooden one but the only downside was it had a wooden footboard which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep for my 6'4" husband. The bathroom was well appointed, and I loved the turret with the toilet in! The breakfast in the morning was good, and even though they start at 8 am, they were happy to serve my 1 year old daughter and husband at 7am as they were up. The room for the ceremony and wedding breakfast were beautiful and the bar area very cosy with roaring fires. A fantastic choice for a wedding! Only sorry I didn't get to see the tree house, as the bride said it was amazing! A Trip Advisor - September 2013
