The Trafalgar Tavern was built in 1837 and sits on the bank of the River Thames, welcoming visitors and providing the sights for visitors to Greenwich for over 150 years. Charles Dickens was once a familiar visitor to this historic tavern, and the Nelson Room became famous for holding its renowned whitebait dinners.
In more recent times, the Tavern has become available for private hire, and has become one of the most attractive and most popular venues in the heart of the City of London to celebrate a wedding.
Trafalgar Tavern’s historic characteristics and charm both inside the building and out remains unchanged, with beautiful balconies and bay windows that overlook the Thames. To give you a sense of City living, the Nelson Room and the Hawke and Howe have been recently re-furbished, and now ooze beautiful late regency magnificence.
The first floor of the Tavern can be hired out in its entirety exclusively for your wedding. The venue will be available for the entire day, so there will be plenty of time for your suppliers to set up and for you to take photos of the room should you want to.
The Nelson Room can accommodate up to 200 guests for a sit down dinner, and 350 guests for a standing reception. This room is also licensed for civil weddings.

So Happy !
The Tafalgar Tavern has given us memories that we will treasure forever. The whole experience was amazing. The venue itself is just beautiful, you couldn't want for more but aside from that, the team behind it is what makes it! They were amazing. So friendly and approachable. They allowed us the freedom to make the venue are our own. Communication was great, I never felt out of touch. The venue met our every need! The running of the day was smooth and the staff were just amazing !Sent on 02/02/2017

August 2019 wedding
We had our wedding in August 2019. The whole day went really well, the food and drink was brilliant, as was the service on the day. All our guest had a great time, loving the unique venue with its views over Thames! The balconies and beach area also provided great spots for photos. The only negative was the organisation and communication before the wedding. Communication was very poor and numerous mistakes were made during the build-up, which made us feel very uneasy and stressed that the day would not go according to plan and I had chase them up on a number of occasions. However, the day was delivered very well and the venue made for a beautiful place to have a wedding so I would recommend the venue.Sent on 21/08/2019

Trafalgar Tavern Wedding - Valuables Stolen!
We’re writing this to warn & inform future couples who might be considering hosting their wedding at this venue. We decided to host our wedding at Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich on 9th July 2018. We were initially impressed with the professionalism of staff, location & venue facilities. We also assumed that it would be a safe & secure environment for our big day. Unfortunately, there was a robbery on the night of our wedding at this venue & we called the police (who are currently investigating this case). This caused us a significant amount of distress to us & our guests & ruined an otherwise prefect wedding celebration. We received very little support / assistance from Trafalgar Tavern. This could be because we were made to pay for all fees due before the wedding. There was also no phone call or attempt to contact us to understand what happened & to offer us any assistance (despite them having our contact details). They only contacted us once as we continued to chase them for answers. We find it difficult to comprehend that a venue is unable to access their own CCTV system (this is not a joke). They were unable to do this for a number of weeks (despite us chasing them regularly to access this urgently). The CCTV footage at the venue, which might have helped the police investigation, has been now been deleted & lost. We’re very disappointed with how this incident has been handled by the Trafalgar Tavern. As at today, we are still awaiting a response from them but no one has contacted us.. Regards, Catherine & Tommy.Sent on 19/08/2018
