Welcome to Stradey Castle, a beautiful and secluded Grade II* listed, 19th century heritage home. Situated on the Carmarthenshire coastline with views across the sea towards Gower, it provides a stunning backdrop for your wedding day. Concentrating on quality over quantity of weddings, nobody forgets a day spent at Stradey Castle.
Currently only available for receptions, Stradey will be exclusively yours for a select number of dates each year between April and September. Rather than typical wedding packages, we offer couples the chance to create a celebration in their image, giving them 3 days to settle in and create the wedding of their dreams!
Upon arrival, you will have use of Stradey’s formal reception rooms and the surrounding terrace garden. The magnificent staircase within the Great Hall of the House offers a spectacular entrance for the newly-wed couple and is perfect for a champagne reception!
Set in such breath-taking surroundings, there are unrivalled opportunities for wedding photographs at Stradey Castle. The woodland gardens and the lake provide gorgeous backdrops for your photographer to capture those intimate first moments as a married couple.
After drinks and canapes, you and your guests can move from the House to the grounds for a marquee reception for up to 120 guests. With a range of recommended marquee suppliers, you will be able to find a structure that perfectly suits your needs!
We have handpicked a choice of 2 catering partners for your wedding breakfast: Strawberry Shortcake Dining and Holdens Catering; who are both experts in providing gourmet marquee catering. With exemplary service, and a passion for locally sourced, high quality ingredients, you and your guests will be in for a culinary experience you will never forget!
Once the celebrations finally draw to a close, couples will be able to retire to our newly redecorated Blue Room. Boasting an immensely comfortable Tester bed, dating back to when the House was built, it is the luxurious escape you deserve on your first night as a newlywed couple.
We have also recently refurbished the bathroom in the bridal suite, complete with a beautiful, cast iron roll top bath.
What’s more, there is a wide choice of hotels all within a short distance for your guests, and the railway station is 2 miles away.

We would highly recommend Stradey Castle as a wedding venue! Claire & Patrick went out of their way to provide a fantastic personal service and they supported us from start to finish. Claire really helped bring my vision of my dream wedding to life! The venue is amazing value for money and we have been blown away by how much care and support we received. Stradey Castle is truly Llanelli's historical hidden gem. The fact that there are not many weddings held there made the service all the more special and I have heard so many of my guests still talking about how wonderful and perfectly suited the wedding venue was. If you choose Stradey Castle you will not be disappointed in any way!Sent on 10/08/2019
Stradey Castle's reply:Thanks, Laura and Jack, for writing such a great review following your wonderful wedding here in July. It really was an honour for us to host such a very special occasion, and we rejoice with you all that it went so well. It is certainly true that every wedding is a very personal experience for us, given the fact that Stradey Castle is - at the moment - an 'occasional' rather than commercial wedding reception venue. Having said that, you and your guests made it so easy for us as well! All good wishes to you both for your future together.

Stradey Castle answered all of our wedding dreams – and more! My husband and I married in Bishopston, Swansea, so we explored all of the usual Gower venues but couldn’t find exactly what were looking for. I had visited Stradey Castle years ago and was delighted to find out that it could be booked as a wedding venue. The house itself is incredibly impressive, with a beautiful staircase and drawing rooms for the guests to circulate in, providing a fantastic all-weather option for the canapés section. The terrace garden takes in views of the Loughor estuary and woods to the right, with a beautiful secluded lake and hidden gardens providing excellent photo opportunities! We chose to set up a marquee on the levelled lawn area to the side of the house, with clear sides to make the most of the amazing view. Preferred caterer Strawberry Shortcake provided creative and delicious food – from the ‘showstopper’ canapés to a bespoke cake comprising of Welsh cheese. However, one of the best features of Stradey Castle is its organisation from manager Claire Mansel-Lewis. Claire’s attention to detail and kindness made the wedding planning process so much more enjoyable, and our guests were so impressed by the small things, such as festoon lighting to the marquee and parking attendant, which made the wedding run so smoothly. The team at Stradey Castle went above and beyond anything we had expected from them, it was their personal touch that made the whole experience so memorable. A special mention also goes to others in the Stradey Castle team, like Kay, who were so friendly and fun to work with. We can thoroughly recommend Stradey Castle for a unique and stunning wedding venue with the flexibility for you to truly make your wedding your own.Sent on 23/09/2018
Stradey Castle's reply:Thank you, Elliott and Hannah, for choosing to have your wedding reception here and then writing about it with such eloquence and generosity. It was a very good day for us too and we enjoyed those days of preparation and anticipation as well. It is, in fact, such a privilege to share some very special moments with a couple on their wedding day and this one was no exception.

A magical place for a fairytale wedding
If you hope to have a wedding with the most beautiful backdrop in Wales - this is the venue for you. If you want to plan every little detail yourself and hate the idea of a dull set menu - this is the venue for you! Patrick and Claire couldn’t have been better hosts and everything went perfectly. Our guests said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to!Sent on 20/09/2018
You will enjoy a drinks reception in the majestic hallway on entering the house. This is is a perfect place to chat and mingle after the ceremony with lots of opportunities for photographs. Claire suggested we go to the back of the house and make our way to the grand staircase and make an entrance into the hallway - we did this to lots of cheers and clapping from our guests!
After this, onto the tennis lawn where we had a giant Tipi set up to enjoy the wedding breakfast and party. Claire recommends you use a catering company called Strawberry Shortcake - after you’ve tasted their food, you’ll understand why. The chef will work closely with you to provide you with most divine menu you could ever imagine for your guests.
Not only is Stradey Castle a wonderful venue, it is also the most remarkable place to have your wedding photos taken, with lots of beautiful woodland areas and a wilderness garden with a hidden lake - a real fairy tale wedding.
Not many people have had their wedding here, making this still a relatively undiscovered gem. This won’t last long! If you want your extravagant wedding to stand out amongst the countless identical hotel weddings you attend or if you want a quiet, intimate, cosy wedding with your close family, this could be the perfect venue for you.
Stradey Castle's reply:Thanks for the wonderful review, Rhiannon and Andy. We loved working with you both to create such an amazing day and it was final proof to us that Stradey Castle can provide the 'best wedding...ever' in spite of the miserable weather on that particular August day. The tipis worked well and you had planned everything so beautifully - making full use of the unusually long lead in time we are able to offer our bridal couples.
