Farnham Castle

Farnham Castle was one of two venues we looked at. As soon as stepped through the door - we knew that it was the place for us! From start to finish the service was impeccable. Heather, our wedding coordinator, went above and beyond for us, and made the day so very special. We can’t fault Farnham Castle at all. The food was perfect, the venue is STUNNING, and everything went so smoothly on our day.

Farnham Castle really is one of the best venues and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice.

Farnham Castle was the first venue we visited and we quickly proceeded to cancel other venue appointments! The castle is such an incredible venue, the team are brilliant and we had so many compliments about the day. The food is fantastic, including the evening pizzas and we loved that all our favourite people could stay on site after the party. Julia was our wedding planner and she was amazing, so professional and nothing was too much trouble. We had the best day and would highly recommend booking this as your venue!!

We opted for an intimate package with Farnham Castle - after coming for one of their wedding open evenings. The organisation from that point on was absolutely amazing - we had the highly efficient Julia planning the wedding with us, and she was able to make all our dreams come true. We wanted a bespoke day and we had it! We highly recommend Farnham Castle for intimate and bigger ceremonies alike - the venue is simply magical. The food is outstanding ; canapes are creative and so tasty. Overall a wonderful experience for us and our guests!

Farnham Castle is absolutely stunning. The grounds were full of gorgeous flowers which made for the perfect backdrop for our photos, and the venue itself offers a wonderful variety of spaces that work seamlessly together throughout the day.
We had our ceremony in the Lantern Hall, which is intimate and romantic, almost replicating a chapel setting. For our wedding breakfast and evening party, we were in the Great Hall - a wonderfully impressive and grand room that perfectly and seamlessly transforms into a dancefloor setting in the evening, with great space for a band and dancing.
The castle also has a great number of on-site hotel rooms for guests - spacious, well-equipped, and at a very reasonable price including breakfast the next morning. It was lovely to spend the following morning with our friends and family debriefing over breakfast. The honeymoon suite was grand and beautiful.
The Coordination: Our coordinator Mallory went above and beyond in the six months leading up to the day – answering our (very extensive!) emails of questions and requests, organising calls and in-person meetings, and keeping us calm on the day itself. She was inconspicuous and professional during the running of the day, incredibly organised, and did it all with a smile. The day ran smoothly and seamlessly thanks to her.
The Food: Unbelievable. Similar quality to fine dining. The kitchen dealt with our tweaks and dietary requirements with ease, adjusting our menu seamlessly. One coeliac guest noted "it was the tastiest gluten-free food I've ever eaten," and so many of our guests reached out in the days that followed to say it was the best wedding menu they'd ever had. The food was also served and cleared away quickly, with every guest at a table receiving their plates at the same time - no awkward waiting while the person next to you sits without their dish.
A Note on Inclusivity for Same-Sex Couples: We had a same-sex female wedding with two brides, and the venue was generally very accommodating. Inclusive language was used throughout our planning process, and we never had any of those awkward "there's no groom" conversations that we experienced at other venues. They even allowed us to replace the St George's Cross with a Pride flag for the day (at an additional cost), which was a lovely touch.
However, something to be aware of: the spaces available to get ready in the morning are quite heteronormative. There's a beautiful outbuilding (the Gatehouse) over two floors traditionally for the bride - lovely big windows flooding it with light, making the perfect photo space, with plenty of rooms so things don't get cramped. The other space is a very "manly" room traditionally for the groom - painted dark blue, dark wood furniture, limited light, and open-plan with no privacy or alternative rooms for hair and makeup. There is also no bathroom in this space, meaning you’d have to leave to use the toilet and risk being seen by guests. We'd made the decision for both brides and bridesmaids to get mostly ready together in the Gatehouse, then separate for the final 90 minutes to keep our dresses a surprise. This meant one bride had to migrate to the groom's room, get dressed in front of her whole party, and have portrait/first-look photos in a less well-lit, less pretty space. It was also cramped, with bridesmaids having to squat in a corner to avoid being seen in parent reveal and first-look photos. There was also a slight logistical challenge with pre-ceremony registrar meetings, as we had to coordinate guests being seated around 20 minutes earlier than scheduled to avoid them seeing the brides walking around the castle fully dressed. It would be wonderful if the venue could consider a second, more feminine or gender-neutral getting-ready space that accommodates a bride and her party - especially for same-sex weddings where both parties need that beautiful prep experience.
A Few Other Notes: The reception/hotel staff were occasionally a little disorganised, particularly with a few guests whose early check-in rooms weren't available at the suggested time despite having paid for early check-in. They were also slow to respond to emails and not particularly informative regarding guest bookings. It's also worth noting that "exclusive hire" may not mean quite what you expect - we were told the whole castle would be reserved for our wedding party regardless of room bookings, but later found this wasn't entirely accurate. Something to clarify upfront.
Finally, this venue is by no means cheap, and there are plenty of additional costs that aren't immediately obvious (aisle carpet, fairy lights, individual charges per chair if you want the more modern design). We know this is standard for most venues, but worth considering if you want the highest spec of everything. We were fortunate enough to increase our budget and are so glad we did, because our day was absolutely perfect and the venue looked incredible.

In summary, Farnham Castle gave us the most perfect, magical wedding day. The venue is breathtaking, the food is outstanding, and Mallory made the whole experience feel effortless. With a few small improvements to inclusivity of spaces and transparency on accommodation, this venue would be truly flawless. We couldn't recommend it more highly.

We decided 8 months ago to book Farnham Castle for our wedding. To be honest, it was the only venue we visited as we were blown away after an open day visit… we knew it was the perfect venue!

How right we were to choose Farnham Castle, our day couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we went for our tasting evening and then met Mallory, our event coordinator, we knew our day was going to be so special.

Mallory and the team couldn’t do enough for us, and put into place all of our wishes for our special day.

Farnham Castle is such a stunning venue, which was complimented with fantastic weather, superb food and service.

We couldn’t recommend it highly enough for a fairytale wedding venue.

The venue was even more beautiful than we had hoped, Mallory our coordinator was amazing throughout the whole process, and the service on the day was perfect. Farnham Castle was the first venue we visited, and although we had a series of other venue visits thereafter, we knew we had already found our dream wedding location.
Not only is Farnham Castle a place filled with history, it is also very well upkept and suitable for a refined and elegant wedding.
What impressed us the most was the friendliness, flexibility and availability of the entire staff, including our Farnham Castle wedding planner (Julia was absolutely amazing!), as well as Chef Simon - who expanded his culinary expertise by creating a bespoke Indian-inspired menu just for us. Our guests were truly baffled by their experience and still talk about it today!
Also note that we chose most vendors from their recommended list, including "The Fine Flowers Company" (Gabi's taste was excellent), and our photographers, Vicky and Phil from "Senior Mac Photography" - a truly unique duo who accompanied us throughout the day and ensured every significant moment was captured forever.
We also chose Natasha Wiggins as our Hair & Makeup artists and were baffled at how natural yet elegant they made us all look.
All in all, if you are looking for a magical place to gather your friends and family together for a special occasion such as your wedding...please look no further and book your venue viewing. You will not regret it!

We had our wedding at Farnham Castle in August and we were so thrilled with how everything went. The venue is situated in breath-taking grounds, with a lot of history and character. Throughout the entire planning process, Francesca and the rest of the team were incredibly helpful, and they were outstanding on the day itself. We hardly had to think about anything other than enjoying the day with our guests. Many of our guests remarked that it was the best food and wine they had enjoyed at a wedding.

We would highly recommend the venue to anyone. A small note to be aware that there a couple of extra costs i.e. additional charge for outdoor ceremony which you may not expect after already paying a premium venue hire fee.

None of this detracts from the stunning surroundings and dedicated events team! They made our day such a success and we would book the same venue in a heartbeat if we had to choose again.

What an incredible venue! We had the best time celebrating our special day here last month and loved all the little areas we were able to access for our guests, from the rose garden for the ceremony to the drinks reception on the lawn, we made full use of the space. As well, many of our guests took advantage of being able to stay on site for the night, and for our international and out of town guests, this was key. We were thus able to avoid late night taxi costs and separate the ceremony location from the reception's.

Another detail that was paramount to us was the reliability of the staff. Not only did several guests compliment the service they were delivered, they also commented on how friendly they were too. Special shout out to Julia, our wedding specialist, who helped us put on our perfect day. From start to finish, she answered our every question and accommodated every request. We are more than grateful for all of her, our suppliers, and the castle team's hard work. It felt like a dream and even though it was an expensive one, we would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

When my husband and I arrived at Farnham Castle, we knew that was where we wanted to get married. The spectacular setting and venue speak for themselves. They need very little decoration for you and your guests to feel wowed.
What really sets Farnham Castle apart, however, is the service. Jenna was incredibly communicative and accommodating throughout the whole process. Every suggestion and idea we had she was flexible in helping us ensure it would work. The service of the other staff on the day of the wedding was exceptional. Disabled and elderly guests were particularly well supported and commented on this to us, both in the lead up and after the wedding.
The food was also excellent. We went for the basic food option and again, were incredibly pleased with the quality. The food was slightly more than you might get from other venues where you have more options of caterers, however, it was definitely worth it! The evening pizzas were also excellent!
I would thoroughly recommend Farnham Castle as a wedding venue, however I would recommend working out the costs carefully as it did end up an expensive venue choice for us.

Where do I start.. our day was perfect in every way!

Firstly, the venue is out of this world, as soon as we pulled up on the open day we knew the venue was for us. Who wouldn't want to get married in a castle.

Francesca was the first member of staff we met and without doubt sold us the venue, from then I knew we needed her throughout our wedding journey. I had so many questions and Francesca was there every single step of the way, we couldn't of been more grateful. Her attention to details was outstanding! She was in charge of our whole day, organising our suppliers, our family and friends and of course looking after us. We truly cannot thank Francesca enough.

The food was to die for, all our guests were speechless at how amazing it all was. The chefs work so hard to provide you with no basic wedding food! Every single canape was beautiful and had people going back for more.

The venue speaks for itself, it is beautiful- the getting ready rooms, the grounds even the honeymoon suite. Do not hesitate to book this venue, if we could do it again we will be back at Farnham Castle.

I got married at Farnham Castle in December 2024 and Julia, Debs and the whole team were fantastic! From my very first viewing through to the wedding itself they were always super professional, delivered an extremely high standard of service and made the experience enjoyable!

On the day they were amazing ensured everything ran super smoothly to make it a perfect day!

I can’t recommend them enough!

We got married at Farnham Castle on the 23rd December. We had visited the venue the year before and it immediately captured our eye. It is beautiful both inside and outside. We were looking for a venue that fitted a winter wedding and this definetly ticked all the boxes! It has covered steps for the confetti shot incase it rains and it has a warm feel inside with fairy lights throughout. It was also important for us that once our guests were inside, they didn't have to go out again until the end of the night!

Organising the wedding was made so simple with our wedding co-ordinators, Laura (who left part way through) and Jenna, which made the planning process enjoyable and relatively stress free. They always responded quickly to emails or phone calls and were willing to discuss our requests for some other non conventional things thrown into the day. It felt like the team were invested in making our day unique and special. Most things are provided by the venue so I would recommend checking beforehand if you want anything non-traditional or extras added in as they may cost more or not allow certain things to be brought in from external suppliers (such as food and drink items) but this didn't specifically effect us.

On the day, we had some last minute guest changes and they were really responsive and helpful with geting them sorted out without stressing out the bride! The day ran so smoothly and went better than I could ever have imagined. The castle looked stunning with Christmas trees and fairy lights throughout. Getting ready in the gatehouse was perfect for me and my bridesmaids and we had plenty of space to spread out and get ready with breakfast, hot drinks and prosecco! We had about 100 guests which was perfect for the space, and we had so many compliments from them all about the venue. The food was amazing and exactly how it was when we went for our private tasting (the creme brulee is the best!). They are very responsive and flexible to all sorts of dietary requirements which made it stress free. There was plenty of overnight accomodation with a great breakfast included. The rooms are not ready for check in until 3pm, which is part way through the wedding day, but as there was no event the night before our guests had the option to check in at 11am (for an extra cost). We had a small incident with a member of staff in the evening which put a slight dampner on the evening for me but we fed that back to the team and they were responsive to the feedback. However, as a whole the staff were amazing and really took care of us on the day. They always were checking in to make sure we were fed and watered throughout the day. The highlights for us included the fairy lights and decor, intimacy of the venue, food, and getting ready space. Thank you to Farnham Castle for making our day so special. We would definitely recommend this venue!
