Auchen Castle is a historic wedding venue situated in the picturesque town of Moffat, just 30 minutes north of Gretna Green and an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Immersed in the scenic Scottish countryside, this stunning castle will provide couples with a fairytale atmosphere like no other. Gorgeous turrets, gilded staircases, and blossoming gardens await those who wish to celebrate their next chapter in this unique venue.
Auchen Castle can host celebrations of all sizes, from elopements for two to weddings of 110 day guests and 150 evening guests. Ceremonies can take place indoors in one of the state rooms or the turret, or outdoors on the lawn in front of the castle. There is also a church in nearby Moffat. Drinks receptions can be held in the bar, lounge or outdoors if the weather is kind. Depending on the number of guests, you can have your wedding breakfast and evening reception in the secluded turret or beautiful state room overlooking the picturesque grounds and pond. Auchen Castle is dog friendly venue and they love host rehearsal dinners, and 'day 2' buffets or barbeques. 26 elegant bedrooms can house guests wanting to stay overnight.

Incredible
My husband and I held our wedding at Auchen Castle on 20th July this year, and we were absolutely blown away!
The staff were honestly amazing, nothing was too much trouble both in the run up to the wedding & on the day itself. My wedding planning approach was rather chaotic so poor Sarah and Lynne had to respond to quite a lot of emails with random things i’d suddenly remembered, but they always responded promptly and were so lovely every time.
We stayed at the castle the night before the wedding with a lot of family and the wedding party & the bbq they put on for us was 10/10. It was such a lovely relaxed start to our wedding weekend and I’d highly recommend you take the night before option if you can!
The wedding day itself truly blew all expectations out of the water. In the morning while I was getting ready with the bridesmaids, Lynne and the staff were great, bringing up some bubbles and our breakfast orders (delicious!) so we could have a leisurely morning in the bridal suite. They kept checking in with us to make sure we didn’t need anything, and then later brought up a fruit platter my mum had ordered for us which was the biggest fruit platter i’ve ever seen & so gorgeously laid out.
The rest of the day flew by, but we were so well looked after throughout and the staff were so efficient but also just really lovely. Dinner far surpassed any food I’ve ever had at any other wedding - everyone adored their meals and friends & family are still raving about it to us whenever they see us!
We’re so happy we had our wedding at Auchen and I cannot thsnk & recommend them enough for making our day as special & fun as it was.

My husband and I were planning our wedding from Chicago and landed on getting married in Scotland where we got engaged. We fell in love with Auchen Castle! The staff was absolutely amazing. They were flexible, kind, helpful and took excellent care of us and our guests. Fiona made sure I had everything I could possibly want or need the day of! Food was great and our guests loved their unique rooms they got to stay in at the castle. It was an absolutely magical day. Food was fabulous and the fireworks package we chose was incredible.

In Awe of the Magic They Create
We knew we wanted to get married in the borders, with some family in England and some in Scotland, it was the perfect area to start looking for our venue.
Initially looking east, we widened our search and came across Auchen Castle, stunning scenery, the venue itself so grand and beautiful and with a package called 'All Taken Care Of' we knew we were onto something. We viewed the venue and Sarah was so lovely, showed us round whole venue and explained how the package worked. We were sold, no need to look at any other venues, this is where we could visualise our big day!
The 'All Taken Care Of' package was a dream, once we had booked the venue, I was sent of list of all the suppliers Auchen Castle had booked for us. Of course, I had to check everyone out via Instagram and was absolutely delighted with everyone that had been booked for us. Later in our planning, we decided that one supplier was maybe not the right one for us, this was no bother to Auchen Castle, who completely understood and offered an alternative supplier.
Sarah and Lynne were fantastic on the whole build up to our wedding, communication was easy and nothing ever seemed like too much trouble.
We went for a menu tasting and took some of our bridal party along and this is where our excitement really started to build, as they feel in love with the place too.
We had booked the 'Linger Longer' package and invited all of our guests for dinner the night before our wedding, this was fantastic for us, as we got to greet all our of guests and catch up with them over dinner and drinks.
The day itself was seamless. By the morning of our wedding all of our guests knew Kerry by name and she knew all of our guests, what they needed and how she could help them. Lynne was there for me all morning, just checking in, bringing me my flowers, getting me up to my room without any guests seeing and those few deep breaths before heading down for the ceremony. I cannot fault or thank these ladies enough for everything.
The music during the ceremony was manage by them, timed beautifully. After the ceremony, Kerry took our girls away for a play on the grass as she could see they were overwhelmed.
The whole day was magical. The canapés were delicious, the meal was incredible, the service from all of the team at Auchen Castle was amazing.
We were amazed that with a package completely booked by the venue, we were still able to really personalise our day. The team listened to what we wanted and what we had dreamed of and just made it come to life.
A week later our guests are still sending messages of how wonderful a time they had.
Auchen Castle is an absolute gem of a wedding venue, we feel so lucky to now have so many special memories in such a wonderful place.

Idyllic Scottish castle
When my now husband and I were planning our wedding we had a huge list of criteria that our venue had to meet and Auchen Castle ticked every single box! We didn't want a typical hotel wedding as we feel that many weddings can feel like a copy and paste of one another, we wanted a venue that felt unique and special to us. We also wanted an exclusive use venue so it really felt like ours for the day. Another big factor is that my husband and I are massive foodies so it was important to us that the food served to our guests was of a high standard. We found all of these requests to be met by Auchen Castle so we absolutely had to book this venue. Lynne, Sarah and the team were absolutely fantastic, every email was answered promptly and every meeting we had was extremely helpful when planning our day. The actual day itself was just perfect for us, it all went off without a hitch and that's down to the conscientious team at Auchen Castle. Every guest we spoke to in the days following the wedding commented on what a fantastic time they had, with several compliments on their delicious meal. We would 100% recommend Auchen Castle, if you choose this beautiful venue I promise you won't be disappointed.

A dream castle wedding
We had our wedding at Auchen Castle, and it was truly a dream come true. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like royalty—attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. The venue itself is stunning, with beautiful spaces perfect for photos and a sense of timeless elegance. We stayed for two nights, and having the ceremony, reception, and accommodation all in one place was incredibly convenient and made the entire experience feel seamless. A night before meal and drinks was the perfect opportunity for guests and family from both sides to get to know each other and warm into the wedding day.
Our guests are still raving about the venue, the delicious food, and the overall atmosphere.

The perfect day!
I don't know where to begin describing how perfect our wedding day was at Auchen Castle.
From start to finish, the team at Auchen Castle were amazing. We live pretty far away, so having the All Taken Care of Package took the stress out of finding trusted suppliers. The venue inside and outside is beautiful in any season and had so much for our guests to explore and enjoy. We did the 'Linger Longer' addition to celebrate with our guests on the Friday night ahead of the wedding on Saturday, and I would really recommend it. All of the food was exceptional, and special dietary requirements were provided for with no fuss. But most of all, it's the team at Auchen Castle that really made our day perfect. They couldn't do enough for us. We had a lot of surprises and intricacies that had to be choreographed perfectly throughout the day. They took all the stress away and nailed it! It was a jam packed day but it ran completely to time, and everything went smoothly.
I cannot recommend having your wedding at Auchen Castle enough. A huge thank you to the team for going above and beyond!

Dreams come true
We fell in love with Auchen Castle the very moment we saw it.
We took advantage of having the venue for 2 nights and used all the recommended suppliers.
There are no words I could used to describe just how magical the whole weekend was.

The most magical day !
My husband and I traveled from Seattle , WA USA to have our wedding at Auchen Castle and could not have been more blown away. The venue is absolutely stunning and the staff there are absolutely amazing and so helpful. They really made us feel taken care of. Our special day was everything we hoped for and more! It was perfect !

We had our wedding at Auchen Castle on a beautiful spring day in April.
From the moment we engaged Auchen Castle as our preferred wedding venue, it was plain sailing with Lynne and Sarah always quick to respond to our numerous emails from overseas. Their communication was first class and it made for planning an international wedding very stress-free.
During our three-day stay at Auchen Castle, everything ran like clockwork. The venue was stunning, the staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. The attention to detail was flawless and the rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable.
The grounds were beautiful and our guests had an enjoyable and relaxing time. It really is the perfect venue for a wedding and the Auchen Castle team are experts in their field.

Recommended without any hesitation
Auchen Castle is a beautiful venue. But it's not just the architecture and interiors that make it impressive - the staff there are extremely impressive, too.
From the moment my husband and I first visited Auchen, we knew we were on to a winner. The private tour was easy to book online and we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. From the in-house wedding coordinators to the cleaning staff, it's clear to see that everyone there has a real pride and passion for what they do; marked in their friendliness and responsiveness.
The 'all taken care of' package really was a joy and made complete sense for our budget, party size and needs - all at amazing value. It was wonderful to have so many of our guests stay with us at the castle, too.
We've been emailing the castle for years as we planned and saved up for our wedding. No question we asked ever felt too small and responses were always thorough and forthcoming.
When it came to the wedding weekend itself, we knew that we'd be in completely safe hands and we were not wrong. Anchored by that friendliness we first experienced on our first tour, our guests all felt completely at ease and at home. My father-in-law uses a wheelchair and the staff were so thoughtful and considerate ensuring that his needs were met, from giving us access ramps to use, to making sure his chair could be accommodated when we were formally sat. From experience, these things aren't always considered, but the fact that they were is another clear example of the caring nature of all who work at Auchen.
I'd like to thank everyone at Auchen for all their hard work. I feel like I've made genuine friends with you and I can't thank you enough for giving us a wedding weekend that we won't ever forget.

Dream Wedding - Auchen Castle is Amazing!
My husband and I were traveling to Scotland from the US for our wedding, and we decided to hold our wedding at Auchen Castle. This was the best decision we could have made, and I can't say enough good things about Auchen Castle and the amazing staff there.
Planning a wedding abroad could seem daunting, but from the very beginning, the staff made everything very easy. They answered all of our questions (and there were a lot of them) and guided us through every step of the planning process.
I was already impressed with Auchen Castle, but when we arrived for our wedding my husband and I and our family were blown away! Everyone was incredibly nice, and made us feel welcome and relaxed. Everything just felt so easy - as a bride on her wedding day, I can honestly say I couldn't have been more calm. This is really down to the staff - they go above and beyond. I should also mention that all of the food we had - the wedding dinner, our breakfasts, and our BBQ dinner the night we arrived - were all delicious. It was the best food we had on our trip!

Our Fairytale Wedding Venue
My Husband and I got married at Auchen Castle on the 28th March 2024. We booked our wedding 2 years in advance and opted to go with the perfectly petite package. When I say that this venue turns your dreams into reality, I’m not lying!
Included in our package was the following:

We had a small intimate wedding celebration of 20 guests but you can add on for additional fees.
From the moment we laid eyes on Auchen Castle we knew it was the one. It screams romance with its charm and beautiful surroundings. The team made us all feel so special and at home. Lynne and Sarah always replied to my emails quick and efficiently and no questions were ever too much or silly on the run up to the wedding. Having such friendly wedding coordinators really made for a less stressful wedding experience.
When we booked the venue I was posted all the information I needed in regards to the other suppliers. This included Bells Florist, Callum the Scottish piper and Sandra Braid our cake maker. I then proceeded to get in contact with each vendor to discuss our plans for the wedding day.
The night before the wedding we headed down with 9 of our family members to set up the castle, have a meal and play some games. This is when I met Fiona who was an absolute superstar through out the whole wedding weekend. She was there to greet us and made sure every aspect of our day was perfect.

We had a small intimate wedding celebration of 20 guests but you can add on for additional fees.
From the moment we laid eyes on Auchen Castle we knew it was the one. It screams romance with its charm and beautiful surroundings. The team made us all feel so special and at home. Lynne and Sarah always replied to my emails quick and efficiently and no questions were ever too much or silly on the run up to the wedding. Having such friendly wedding coordinators really made for a less stressful wedding experience.
When we booked the venue I was posted all the information I needed in regards to the other suppliers. This included Bells Florist, Callum the Scottish piper and Sandra Braid our cake maker. I then proceeded to get in contact with each vendor to discuss our plans for the wedding day.
The night before the wedding we headed down with 9 of our family members to set up the castle, have a meal and play some games. This is when I met Fiona who was an absolute superstar through out the whole wedding weekend. She was there to greet us and made sure every aspect of our day was perfect.

An absolute dream!
We held our wedding here on 30.03.2024 and it was the most magical time. We had exclusive access to the castle from 3pm on the Friday which allowed us to get organised and relaxed for our day on the Saturday. The staff were very accomodating, providing all necessary plates etc for us to get a take away with our guests the night before. The staff were extremely helpful in the set up process for the day as I had made a lot of the decor myself and did not have a vendor to dress the venue. Everything on the wedding day went off without a hitch, with Fiona and Lynne running the day like clockwork! We went with the petite package that they offer and added additional guests. We even had some last minute changes and nothing was a bother to accomodate! With the run of the castle for the weekend our guests had a blast and we were made to feel like royalty! I would highly recommend Auchen to anyone wanting an exclusive venue that can provide both ample space and an intimate feel! The grounds are absolutely stunning for photographs also!
