A romantic converted barn, Dodmoor House is a Grade II listed, family-run venue. If you want a rustic location with a personal touch this is a great option as outside caterers and other suppliers are welcome. Set within four acres of landscaped grounds, Dodmoor has wonderful countryside views and as it is situated on the banks of the Grand Union Canal there are plenty of unique photo opportunities, too.

Birtsmorton Court, Worcestershire

A spectacular option in the Midlands, Birtsmorton Court is a medieval moated wedding venue. Within 120 miles of London, Birtsmorton is surrounded by green fields with super views of the Malvern Hills. As well as its rustic credentials, this gorgeous venue has plenty of history to boast about, too. Some of the original foundations were laid in 1241 and much of the moated grange was built in the 15th-century.

Winkworth Farm, Wiltshire

It has stunning barns, gardens and converted farm buildings with 220 acres of organic pastureland. Couples can have their wedding ceremony in either the Roundhouse Gardens or The Long Barn for up to 150 guests, or the main Threshing Barn can host a ceremony for up to 200.

Standing on the banks of the river Exe, magical Bickleigh Castle has a beautiful thatched chapel, a tranquil location in picturesque Devon and a very special warmth and intimacy. As well as an outdoor license, the venue also offers the Great Hall for wedding ceremonies, with a fully accessible minstrels’ gallery, huge stone fireplace (with a roaring fire in winter) and seating for 120 guests.

Set in the glorious Kent countryside, this charming barn venue has vaulted ceilings and stunning grounds. The L-shaped Winters Barns, with cream walls and timber beams, have a ceremony room at one end (seating up to 150 guests) and a reception room (seating up to 200) at the other, so you can move from your ceremony to the reception seamlessly. The reception room has enough space for an opulent top table, but is intimate enough for a warm, personal atmosphere.

Prested Hall, Essex

Prested Hall in Colchester is a country house hotel that offers style, comfort, atmosphere and attentive staff. Exclusive use of the whole manor house, including 16 bedrooms, is available and, for a rustic wedding with a luxurious touch, there is a health club next door including an Elemis spa, massage and holistic treatment rooms and courts for the ancient – and decidedly rustic - game of real tennis.
