Healey Barn is proud to have been voted the UK's Best New Venue 2016 in the Awards run by Hitched, Perfect Wedding and You & Your Wedding.
Healey is near Corbridge in the Tyne Valley, set in the most peaceful countryside, with beautiful, open views to the south, yet under 20 miles from the centre of Newcastle. The buildings were converted by the Cripps & Co team from a fine set of traditional barns in 2015. We wanted to create a really enchanting wedding venue, comfortable to use, open to the outside in summer, and snug and warm in winter, and we wanted to retain the feel of the original buidings and their history. We hope we've succeeded.
The Long Barn is the most romantic place we know for a Ceremony, full of candles (over 100), with the most amazing oak roof which supports a huge canopy of fairy lights (you can't have too many!), and headed by a massive stone fireplace. Like the other rooms, it's underfloor-heated and warm whatever the Northumbrian weather does. The Long Barn is also used for the drinks reception, and later as the dance floor.
Leading off the Long Barn, there is an oak-roofed Dining Room. On one side there are windows looking over the Northumbrian countryside. On the other side there's a full glass wall with three sets of double doors which bring the Courtyard into the Dining Room, as it were, adding, according to the season, sunlight, summer breezes, and enticing views of plants, flowers, spectacular BBQ's, firepits, lanterns and fairy lights. The Oak Room is designed to feel spacious and luxurious.
The Courtyard is sheltered on all sides and perfect for post-ceremony drinks on a mild day, and great for wedding photos. At night it's quite magical with fairy-lit trees, firepits and lanterns.
Completing the package is Healey's inimitable food. We like to make our food dramatic as well as delicious, with giant rotisseries and BBQ's. Our formula is "Buy the best, cook it simply, serve it generously".
