Facilities and Capacity
This airy building, with 500 years of history, is highly versatile. Whether you're looking to cover it in fairy lights, hang vintage bunting, or fill it with floral details, this space can be transformed into your dream wedding venue.
The barn can seat 140 and has a maximum capacity of 200, so grand wedding breakfasts and evening receptions are always an option here. Before or after the ceremony, you're also welcome to relax by the fire pit or chill out in the snug area. These are great spaces for guests to catch their breath during the celebrations.
The Ashridge Great Barn has gorgeous outdoor ceremony space in the gardens with the Magic Circle having a capacity for 120 and the Secret Glade nestled in woodland having space for 100 guests.
We have an onsite catering kitchen with a list of wedding suppliers at the staff's fingertips, allowing you to choose a tried and trusted supplier to suit your needs and tastes. We do not charge corkage here and Great Barn staff will also be on-hand to help with the planning and preparation. These event professionals will suggest how you can get the very best out of these magnificent spaces.
There is a cottage onsite that sleeps 6 an we also have camping/glamping field available for hire.

Absolutely Perfect
From the very start, they were wedding magicians, everything happened with ease, and they made us feel so calm and comfortable throughout. Cat is the most helpful person on the planet when it comes to organising a wedding, and she made our prep so much easier. She even allowed us to keep the music going until 1am (which was much later than any other venue we looked at), and we were able to use the site on Friday night for a pre-wedding buffet and Sunday morning for breakfast.
Everyone we’ve spoken to since the weekend has been singing the venue’s praises, and a photographer, who has shot nearly 200 weddings, said it’s one of her favourites ever. The team aren’t just brilliant organisers, they’re also genuinely lovely people, the exact type of characters you want around you on your wedding day. They made us chuckle, calmed us down, and added so much joy to the whole weekend.
It felt like working with a team of friends rather than a typical client–supplier relationship, and for that we’re incredibly grateful. It was, without doubt, the best weekend of our lives, and a huge part of that is thanks to Ashridge Great Barn and the amazing team behind it.

Beautiful venue and staff who go above and beyond
There are 2 lovely accommodations on site where we got ready, there is ample space for camping and they've recently refurbed the shower/toilet facilities which are great - our guests were very grateful for them. The support from the Ashridge Barn team is amazing - Cat's the most helpful person on the planet when it comes to organising a wedding and made our prep so much easier. No ask was too much for her and the team (Lynda, Rachel), and they went out of their way to make it the most special day for us. She allowed us to keep the music going until 1am (which was much longer than any other venue we looked at), and we used the site both on Friday night for a pre-wedding buffet and Sunday morning for breakfast - so you can really enjoy the venue for a whole weekend event.
It was fantastic, easily the best weekend of our life, and a major part of that is down to Ashridge Great Barn and the wonderful team. Thank you from Gemma and Phill :)

Unique fairytale wedding of our dreams!
The weather was not our friend on the day meaning we had to abandon the outdoor ceremony with an hour to go! The staff did an amazing job at being able to turn the venue around so quickly and it was beautiful!
The venue looked so magical with the fairy lights, it really was a magical wonderland hidden away in rural mid-Devon!

Right from the early planning stages, Cat and Lynda were fantastic. They offered invaluable advice, pointed us in the right direction for suppliers, and helped us consider every detail to make our day truly special. Their expertise and dedication were apparent from day one.
The venue itself is simply stunning, the epitome of rustic charm and the perfect backdrop for a wedding. With the choice of two different outdoor ceremony areas and the beautiful barn, we were spoiled for choice. Despite some gale force winds from Storm Antoni, Cat and the team worked tirelessly to help us pull off the outdoor ceremony of our dreams. Their determination and flexibility truly saved the day.
Throughout the entire weekend, Cat worked behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Her dedication to making our day perfect was beyond anything we could have hoped for. We felt like we were in the hands of true professionals who cared about every detail.
In the end, we had the best wedding weekend imaginable, thanks in no small part to the incredible team at Ashridge Great Barn. Beautiful, friendly, supportive DIY venue
Our planning process was a little longer than most couples' (due to Covid) but despite this, communication with the wedding team at Ashridge stayed regular and always supportive and helpful.
In the few days we spent at Ashridge before, during and after the wedding, the team could not do enough for us. They worked so hard to make sure our visions were realised, and on the day of the wedding, we felt completely able to relax and enjoy it, as the Ashridge team kept an eye out for suppliers who were on their way and helped make sure the day ran as close to the schedule as weddings can.
In all, we had a dream wedding - We would do it all again, at Ashridge, in a heartbeat!

Meet the team
Hi I'm Cat and I've been the manager here since we started in 2018. My husband and I were the first people to get married here so I've been in your shoes and experienced Ashridge weddings from all angles (my brother and cousin also got married here). My favourite thing about weddings is seeing all the months (years!) of planning which a couple put in come together and being part of making that happen is such a privilege. Can't wait to meet you, hear all about your plans and see how we can be a part of brining them to life!
