Unique and Unusual Wedding Venues in East – England

We got married at the Canary Shed in Sept 2023. It really was the perfect venue for our wedding and the team were incredible both in the run up and on the day. Having a space where we could have lots of people stay with us over 2 days was really important to us. We found a few venues that offered this but the Canary Shed was by far the best in terms of accommodation and the venue itself. I work in the wedding industry and I see a LOT of venues, which made me quite a fussy bride! I had worked at the Canary Shed before and met Emily just after they had finished building the barn. The whole ethos they have around the business, sustainability, supporting artists and small businesses and the community more widely was something I absolutely loved and something you really don't see from a lot of wedding venues which can be quite 'conveyer belt' like. Jade came on board as venue coordinator about a year before our wedding and she was absolutely brilliant. She answered every question we had so quickly and efficiently, she was way ahead, contacting suppliers on our behalf and advising us on lots of things. On the weekend of our wedding, the team let us have access to everything we needed to setup and were on hand for any questions. It was wonderful to see the vision I'd had for the last 2 years really come to life! Some of our family enjoyed the spa and hot tub and we all spent the evening in the Granary which was lovely. On the day, Emily led the coordination and was a lovely calm presence. She nailed the music timing (which was something really important to me!) and the whole day ran so smoothly at one point we were half an hour ahead of schedule (which NEVER happens at weddings!) So many guests commented on how lovely the accommodation was and were delighted to be able to stay on site. The nearby accommodation too offered great options for other guests and although I was a little worried about taxi availability (a few people had struggled to pre-book) everyone who needed to, got away absolutely fine. I can't recommend the Canary Shed enough. It will always have a very special place in our hearts. Being able to bring our little pup along with us too was a lovely addition as he's a big part of our family! Emily, Jade and the team are fantastic and will do everything they can to make your wedding day everything you want it to be. Thank you so much ❤️

We had the most incredible wedding at Chalkney Water Meadows. It's the perfect place to be creative and create the wedding of your dreams. The staff were extremely accommodating and flexible and as excited as us about creating the perfect day. We hired the log cabins and Bell tents as accommodation for us and guests and it will forever be the most unique special memories we hold. I'd recommend this venue 100%

Stunning location great boat ride in! Love every second of our big day! Team were wonderful and the day was perfect!

I booked my wedding with Nathan back in 2019. Due to covid it was rearranged a couple of times but everytime Nathan was very accommodating and managed to move my date. We paid and hired out the venue The night before the wedding Reception so we could dress the Room. On this night Nathan's events manager Abbie was in......Abbie is absolutley amazing she cannot do enough for you. She helped and gave solutions and even helped us clear the rubbish and she chilled all my wine and bubbly. A few things couldn't be done till the following day and I explained to abbie what these were and she made sure they were done then went above and beyond and made sure everything looked precise. On the wedding Reception night Nathan was head chef of course and we had bbq style food. I had booked a buffet but sadly chef de la maison Contacted me a couple of months prior and explained they no longer provided finger buffet platters and afternoon or buffet boxes could be provided but I didn't want this. However Nathan found a solution we were happy with and on the actual night the food was absolutely delicious by Nathan it had so many compliments. We also had an outside catering company provide a finger buffet which Nathan was happy to let us have. Abbie again was so helpful on the night she served all my table wine and toast drinks and made everything effortless for us. At the end if the night Nathan and his team tidied up and allowed us to come the following morning to collect everything we had decorated the room with. I highly recommend this venue its nothing over the top and just the right size we had 50 guests and we fitted perfectly. This venue has a lovely outdoor space too and tall metal gates so children can't get out and have enough area to run around without parents worrying about them wondering off. Nathan and his team are easily Contactable and are happy to recommend suppliers if doing a DIY like us. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and Thank you for a wonderful evening and making everything run perfectly and They even signed my guest book!!!! xx

We got married in January of this year. The Church were so accommodating. We got everything we hoped for and more! Our day was made so special and nothing was too much trouble for the team! We even had 2 guests show up who weren’t invited until the evening who showed up for the day and when we approached the team it was very quickly adjusted and you wouldn’t have even known! The food wad to die for!!!! The homemade pizzas were chefs kiss 😀 we had the most wonderful day and night!

This place is absolutely Stunning. My husband and I had our wedding here at the weekend. Not only did it live up to expectations, it exceeded them. Throughout 2 years of planning and preparing, Ian was such great help and guided us in the right direction with decisions. In the day, both Linda and Marilyn was amazing and made the whole day go so perfectly and smoothly. Right from when we were setting up the decorations, to when we were packing all away. The caterers that are used by shortmead too were just amazing, good service and all guests absolutely loved their food. The venue and ground are just so beautiful, something you would find abroad. Can't recommend enough !

what an amazing wedding reception held yesterday at the Kings Oak Hotel for Steven & Sian Dinnadge, from arrival they definitely had the "WOW" factor, Winter Wonderland - absolutely perfect. Staff were absolutely amazing, the foods was very good and also the evening buffet - plenty of food - the owner could not have been more accommodating and upon collecting the gifts this morning they had won the 2014 Wedding Venue award and deservedly so - Well Done to the Kings Oak and thanks for everything x

For us Woodhall Manor was a life line. Our Wedding had been booked at a venue in Essex, but things were not turning out as we had hoped. I bought a copy of Pure Wedding Magazine to pep myself up and found an advert on the first page for Woodhall. For us this was the turning point. Woodhall Manor is the most fantastic venue we have ever seen. We first visited the venue in February this year when it was still under going a huge restoration project. On 21st June this year we became the fist couple to be married at Woodhall Manor, a very proud moment for us both. Tammy & Michael, the owners and Gary the assitant manager pulled out all the stops to get the venue ready for us and turned our wedding nightmare into a fairytail!! We cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us. The venue is truly beautiful & romantic with the most fantastic atmosphere. Although it is a big site it feels both personal & intimate. Tammy has decorated the house and function suit in the most tastfull way and the accomodation is purley sumptuous & luxurious. Our wedding weekend could not have gone any better, we just loved every second of it & really didn't want to leave! All the staff at the venue were fantastic and looked after us all so well. This venue is truly special & excellent value for money. All I can say is go for a visit and you'll soon be caught up in its magic.

From our very 1st visit to Woolston Manor to the big day itself, we were looked after by the charming staff, nothing was to much trouble. The food was exquisite with matching service. We had a wonderful day and have received fantastic comments from our guests.
