If you're looking for a traditional, countryside wedding venue in Hertfordshire, we think you'll love St Michael's Manor Hotel. Located close to the fashionable town of St. Albans, this stunning townhouse is ideally located from those travelling a little further afield, and as well as gorgeous, boutique bedrooms on site, is well within reach of surroundings for guests.
As well as being a beautiful, historic building, the hotel is also surrounded by five acres of private English gardens and its own lake which add to the exclusivity feel of the place. So even though you're close to the buzz of St Albans, you'll feel a million miles away. And, who wouldn't want their own lake for the wedding photos? Come winter or summer, it's an idyllic backdrop for the big day.
The team at St Michael's Manor Hotel have been hosting weddings for over 50 years and so as well as being able to pull off any special event without a hitch. Flexibility is our speciality, and we are more than happy to create a bespoke day for you. For your ceremony, you could tie the knot in the wood panelled Oak Lounge, a handsome, historic space decked out with gold-framed oil paintings, or by contrast, opt for the Orangery which is a gorgeous choice in the summer as the space is flooded with natural light.
Drinks receptions can take place in the hotel bar or formal lounge, or if the weather's nice bring your guests out onto the lawns or even the atmospheric summerhouse jetty, which sits out over the lake. After a tipple or two, it's time for the wedding breakfast which can be served in the smart Cedar Suite, Orangery or again, the Oak Lounge, depending on whether you're planning an intimate affair or a larger party.
Catering is provided in house and the team are more than happy to chat through the plethora of options with you to ensure everything is to your taste.

The perfect venue and most amazing day
The venue is absolutely stunning. We got married on the jetty overlooking the water and it was just magical. The gardens are gorgeous and the orangery is such a lovely space for the wedding breakfast and reception.
Huge shout out to Christina, our wedding coordinator, who was absolutely amazing from day one. Always so quick to respond to emails, nothing was ever too much trouble, and she made us feel completely looked after. On the day itself everything was coordinated to perfection and we could just relax and enjoy ourselves knowing she had it all under control.
All the staff were so warm and lovely. We were looked after so well. Loads of our guests commented on how friendly everyone was. And the food was incredible, genuinely some of the best wedding food we’ve ever had.
We can’t recommend this place highly enough. Had the absolute best day of our lives and are so thankful to Christina and the whole team for making it happen so beautifully!

The venue is beautiful with amazing grounds and a lake that our guests loved walking around. The rooms at the hotel were so spacious and comfortable and all our guests who stayed at the hotel commented on how fantastic they were.
The team at St Michael’s Manor were so friendly and professional both in helping to plan, and ensuring our Wedding day ran exactly as we had wanted. The food for the Canapés, Wedding Breakfast and Evening meal was nothing short of sensational and the setup and turnaround of the hotel for the Ceremony, Wedding Breakfast, and Evening party was seamless.
Would definitely recommend St Michael’s Manor to anyone looking for a venue to host your Ceremony, Wedding Breakfast and Evening party in the same place, that really has the wow factor.

Hosted within our elegant Orangery (or our outdoor Summer House, weather permitting) and led by local artist Jo Bird, our Sip & Paint experience is designed for complete beginners and budding artists alike. No previous experience is required, just a willingness to slow down, pick up a paintbrush, and enjoy the process.
Set against the backdrop of our beautiful gardens and lake, you'll be guided through creating your own landscape painting, from the first pencil sketch through to applying colour and bringing your artwork to life.
The emphasis isn't on perfection. It's about taking time for yourself, learning something new, and enjoying a relaxed afternoon in good company.
