Where do we even begin? We honestly cannot put into words just how fabulous and amazing our wedding day was at The Compasses! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect, and we couldn’t have wished for a more beautiful place to celebrate the happiest day of our lives.

The venue is absolutely stunning, with its gorgeous rustic charm and beautiful atmosphere. It was everything we dreamed of and more, creating the most perfect backdrop for our special day. All of our guests had the best time, and we’ve had so many lovely comments about how wonderful the venue was and how amazing the whole day felt.

A special and heartfelt thank you to Charlaine, who has looked after us from day one. Your care, kindness, support and attention to detail have meant so much to us. You made us feel looked after every step of the way and helped make our wedding everything we had hoped for. We honestly couldn’t thank you enough.

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who worked so hard behind the scenes and on the day itself. Everyone was fantastic, and it really showed how much care and effort went into making everything so special for us and our guests.

Our wedding day was everything we could have dreamed of and more. If we could turn back time and do it all over again, we would in a heartbeat! We wish we could relive every single moment because it really was that amazing.

Our wedding at the Compasses was exactly how we wanted it, entirely due to the stunning surroundings and the fabulous people that work there. From our initial meeting with Jono we knew we wanted to get married there. He was friendly, helpful and didn't try and sell us things we didn't need - there were no hidden charges anywhere. We didn't view any other venues. Once we'd booked, Charlaine was amazing coordinating all of our plans, answering my endless questions quickly and promptly and allowing us to personalise our wedding as we wanted including having our much loved dog with us for the ceremony and photos.
We met our on-the-day coordinator, Sammi, at our final meeting and she was also amazing. She worked tirelessly to get everything set up for us, exactly as we'd planned and then spent the whole day making sure everyone was okay and everything turned out as we wanted. They even managed to give our 3 year old niece the confidence to walk down the aisle by herself - I don't know what they said to her but she was perfect. Everything was perfect and we can't thank the Compasses team enough.

The venue was so beautiful and all our guests commented on how lovely it was and how it had such a warm feeling about it . The scenery was stunning and felt very exclusive to us , which just made us feel that bit more special on our big day .
The staff were second to none and we really felt they cared genuinely about all the details and how they could make our wedding bespoke to us, no problem was too big that they couldn’t find a way to sort it which we definitely didn’t feel at most venues we looked at .

I can’t recommend this venue enough, having sections where our children could play and other sections where older generations could escape the crowd for a while , while also being open and spacious for all our gusts was just perfect.

Not only was the venue its self Amazing but staff who work so hard to make everyone’s wedding day special are just the cherry on top of the cake . I couldn’t have imagined being married anywhere else .

This is a fantastic venue to book if you’re looking for an all inclusive, friendly and stress free wedding day. The bridal suite was a perfect set up for hair and make-up and meant we saved costs on cars bringing us to the venue as well as there being no stress in arriving on time for the ceremony. From start to finish the communication was excellent. We were able to customise our day including choosing drink packages that suited our guests as well as being able to have the music we wanted for the evening entertainment. We also had a fantastic recommendation from them on who to book for catering (Coggeshall Catering and The Meadow Table). The food was a highlight of the day. Charlaine and Jono were flexible and reasonable while also giving us great advice on what works and what doesn’t at the venue. The final meeting was a great part of the experience and we hashed out all the elements of the day and felt super supported. On the day we were looked after by Della who acts as a kind of wedding planner which meant we could just enjoy the day. She did a fantastic job. It was great value for money and all of our guests told us what a wonderful venue it was. We also got some amazing photos!! Thank you for making our day so special and stress free! Sarah and Dan x

Thank you to the compasses at pattiswick for hosting our amazing day. The venue is beautiful inside and out. The inside is decorated so gracefully and theres plenty of different rooms for guests to spread out. Outside has a lovely lawn for photos and a nice play area to keep kids (and adults) entertained. The patio was delightful to sit out in the evening and enjoy drinks from the well stocked bar. The day went so smoothly as they kept the day so well organised. From the first open day right through planning meetings to collecting things after, they really do look after you every step of the way. Charlaine covered every little detail in the planning, including things we hadnt even thought about, really thorough and diligent. Della was amazing on the day, she made everything run so smoothly, we didn't even have time to worry about something as she'd already done it. They are an incredible venue and we cant recommend them enough. 11/10!

From the moment we stepped into the venue back in August last year, we knew that it was the perfect venue for us. Charlaine was incredible from start to finish with the planning of the wedding. Della looked after us on the big day and made sure everything was perfect! Nothing was ever too much for them and any emails were responded to really quickly. We cannot thank them enough for making sure our wedding was perfect!

We chanced upon The Compasses from another family wedding and straight away we knew it was somewhere special. The venue has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease, and throughout the entire planning process, Jono, Charlaine, Della and the whole team made us feel like we were the only people in the world, really supportive! And their recommendations for DJ (Amp & Decks), Catering (Coggeshall Catering and The Meadow Table) and Signage and finishing touches (Harrison Events) were spot on!

The wedding day itself was even better than our expectations. The setting was beautiful and every detail was handled with care and professionalism. What stood out most was how attentive and accommodating the staff were, not just to us, but to our family and guests as well, nothing was too much! They worked hard behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy every moment (and reminded us of what was next along the way!)

All our guests said what a wonderful venue it was and how seamlessly the day flowed, everyone's still talking about it!
Choosing The Compasses as our wedding venue was one of the best decisions we made. We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved for helping create such a perfect day. The Compasses at Pattiswick is not only a lovely venue, but from day 1 you feel really supported and cared for by the staff there. It feels like a really personalised service compared to other venues we viewed. From the planning and lead up, to the running of the day, everything ran very smoothly. Everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

We have so many positive things to say about The Compasses we don’t know where to start! We couldn’t recommend them enough, from the minute we viewed this incredible venue Charlaine was super helpful with everything throughout the planning process. Keeping in touch, sending over a range of suppliers and many other helpful suggestions, nothing ever seemed too much which made the wedding planning process very relaxed. Not to mention it’s extremely affordable and there are no hidden costs.
They let us take control of having our special day exactly how we wanted it all while making sure it was planned well, keeping it calm and exciting.
Della and the team were amazing on the day with ensuring everything went smoothly, making sure everything was set up to how we envisioned and ensuring we had everything we needed at all times.

We got married here in October 2025, and we couldn't have been happier to have chosen this venue. From start to finish the team were fantastic, communication was great, they made the planning process so straightforward and stress free.
They were on hand to make sure our wedding day went perfectly (and it really was perfect!), I would book this venue time and time again, we couldn't recommend them enough.
The price point is well aligned with everything that was included, and they were happy to tailor drinks packages/accommodate an open bar for us as well.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about this venue as a whole. The staff are professional, friendly and compassionate, respond to our correspondence promptly and effectively. They go out of their way to help and they are keen to ensure your day is tailored to you, not just to make this budget friendly, but decoration and organising to day for you. Our wedding day went so smoothly and have absolutely no complaints about anything and everything went well. The venue itself is beautiful, intimate and natural. I love the fact that evening and day time guests can celebrate in one space and not split up into two rooms for dancing and seating. The outdoor space is natural and quiet and there is plenty of spaces to take a breather when the time is right, inside and outside, particularly took a liking to the fireplaces. There are plenty of places to put your personal touches, believe me, we had quite a lot to find places for, and the venue did an amazing job at placing these in the best locations that they thought worked the most to the venue and guests. The venue is wheelchair accessible which made all the difference to accessibility for family members and in general, the space is, in my opinion, the best in terms of layout. Personally, I could not have asked for more and it was the most magical day of our lives and could not have asked for more. Thank you.

We had our wedding at the compasses and it was exactly how I wanted it, everyone working there was so supportive, I didn’t feel I needed to stress and it all went so smoothly. Couldn’t of wished to have our wedding at a better place!

The compasses are ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING, from start to finish (and even after) The compasses at pattiswick have gone above and beyond to ensure we have the most amazing day and we absolutely did!
The venue itself is stunning, a beautiful rustic countryside vibe, with wooden beams and open fireplaces, beautiful greenery inside and out, even a kids play area too.
The bridal room for getting ready has all the modern amenities you could need with plenty of space. Loved the two way mirror extra which was especially fun to see all the guests and groomsmen to arrive. The aisle, wow, we cried when we first saw it and knew it was perfect for us, I have no words for how perfect this venue is.

Our day run SO smooth thanks to Charlaine, Della and the team. They are the most wonderful people you could meet, they are professional but with a personal touch even building a friendly relationship with our children (Tommy wiggle bum will always be remembered) Charlaine and Della looked after us as family would and not just another wedding booking, I always felt relaxed around them and always came away smiling with laughter.
I have so much love for Charlaine and Della and look forward to seeing them again for our 1st anniversary meal at the compasses.
I was nervous as many brides are on the leadup, but honestly there was no need to be whatsoever. There was nothing the team couldn’t handle. No silly requests or questions. We also found their instagram page to be really inspiring with so many different styles they can cater for and real life weddings they have previously done along with all their open days and recommended suppliers.

I will be forever thankful to EVERYONE at the compasses for giving us the most perfect day we could have ever wished for. Charlaine and Della, you are honestly diamonds and will hold a special place in all our hearts forever
