We had our very small interment wedding reception at Downham hall and can honestly say that every single member of staff made our day exceptionally special.
Nothing was ever too much trouble with a member of staff always close by to see to our every need.

We celebrated our Wedding Day at Downham Hall on 25th April 26. We got married at St Margaret's Church just up the hill and then had the rest of our day at Downham Hall.

We had around 75 day guests with an extra 30 guests in the evening.
It was the most perfect day ever. Debra was our wedding coordinator and arranged everything, she was warm, caring and so on the ball she made sure our wedding day was perfect without any glitches.

We had our welcome drinks in the beautiful orangery and outdoor seating area. The sun was shining and the prosecco was being poured, it was stunning.
Our guests really loved the canapés and their meal, we chose the best location.

Lots of people had warned me that not everything goes to plan on your Wedding Day so expect a few things not to go to plan - but this was not the case at all at Downham Hall. Everything was perfect! Debra and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had the most special, beautiful day, we were blown away with how perfect everything was, wish we could do it all again.

The rooms are lovely too and breakfast the next day in the Orangery was delicious - especially the sausages.

Tim the DJ was brilliant, he played all our requests, the dancefloor was packed all night!

Thank you so much to everyone a Downham Hall, we are sooo happy we chose this location to celebrate our Wedding day. We can't wait to come back for Pizza night - especially as I was too busy dancing on the Wedding night that I forgot to eat some pizza!.

Whilst looking for a wedding venue we came across Downham Hall by pure chance. We attended a wedding open day and was shown around by Andrew who was so passionate about the place. We explained that we wanted our day to reflect us as a couple as well as our individuality. From the moment we booked our special day that's what we got. Communication was fantastic, our requests accommodated and they made the whole process so effortless which truly made the day even more special as we didn't have anything to stress over.
One of our wedding guests was a professional chef and complimented our menu, the ingredients and love that went into preparing the food shone through.
Our day was made even more magical by Downham Hall and the whole team and for that we will forever be grateful!

We got married at Downham Hall in July 2023 and cannot recommend this venue enough! The location, grounds, rooms and surrounding views are absolutely stunning.

The service was outstanding, the staff worked so hard to make sure everything ran smoothly on the day and were very helpful and informative during the planning process.

The wedding packages they offer are very comprehensive and flexible meaning you can make your wedding day bespoke to you. For example we wanted completely meat free (vegetarian) catering which they were more than happy to create a bespoke menu for us. You also get use of the bridal dressing room and overnight stay in the beautiful hotel rooms included.

I highly recommend you visit the venue to see it for yourself and if you do decide to book it for your wedding day, I’m sure you won’t regret it 💕

We had our wedding here 2 days ago. It’s a beautiful venue, the staff were great, really helpful, nothing was a bother when we asked them for anything. The food was fabulous and the accommodation is lovely. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a venue in Essex.

We had an extremely tiny, completely bespoke wedding day at Downham Hall. It was absolutely perfect and everything we had hoped it would be. Christina, Debra and all the staff were amazing from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot recommend Downham Hall highly enough. We have been back numerous times since. It’s like coming home.

After two cancelled dates due to Covid at another venue, my (now) husband and I decided we were tired of waiting and got in touch with the team at Downham Hall just 5 weeks before we were going to tie the knot.

They really couldn’t have done more to accommodate our last-minute request. The team made us feel so so welcome, the venue was stunning, the food incredible and we had the most amazing day.

It's a beautiful country house with stunning grounds and an amazing team, who went above and beyond from start to finish, to make our day perfect. Genuinely can't recommend highly enough. One visit is a all it took for us to know we wanted to get married at Downham Hall and we're both so pleased we did.

Downham Hall allowed us to have our perfect wedding. Even when we were due to get married outdoors and the great British weather turned on us the team were brilliant with changing to an indoor ceremony at the last minute. We were able to choose exactly what food we wanted for our wedding Breakfast and evening meal (even allowing us to provide our own signature cocktail to our guests!) The staff were very attentive throughout the day and the breakfast the morning after with our closest family was amazing! Would highly recommend as a wedding venue. We both still enjoy going back to the venue for meals and afternoon teas now, the views are beautiful and food always amazing!

Oooo I cant believe its been 2 years since our Wedding at Downham hall. The venue was perfect. They had the most beautiful room with fireplaces that i knew i wanted to get married in. The gardens look beautiful no matter what the season. There is just so much character in the building and the grounds surrounding Downham hall. Everyone at Downham hall are friendly and helpful, its so lovely that Christina and Andrew are so invested in all their guests. Everything on the day ran perfectly, which I knew it would. The food! Its was amazing! Which made an extremely difficult to decide what we would have on the day. Our evening buffet was a huge success, it was all beautiful presented as well as being delicious. If your looking for a intimate wedding, Downham is perfect, the whole venue is exclusively to you and your wedding party which adds and beautiful personal touch to your day. You can tell that all the staff care about making the day perfect for you, nothing was too much trouble at all.

We could not fault Downham Hall with our wedding day! If you want a personal intimate wedding then you must choose Downham Hall! They treat you like family and will cater to you and your needs!

We got married at Downham Hall in July 2022. I found the venue whilst attending a Yoga retreat day there and instantly fell in love with the chilled relaxed vibe and arranged to have a viewing. The Wedding planner was so helpful and let us attend to have a look around the venue and showed us the many different options available to us. We really wanted a small and intimate Wedding and this just felt like the right place for that. We ideally wanted an outside ceremony and the garden setting was just perfect for our hippy/bo-ho vibe that we were hoping to achieve. Obviously, being held in English Summertime we had to have a back up plan but the staff at Downham Hall assured us that they had that all under control and had an inside room made available to us should the weather decided to turn. A real key point to our Wedding, was the exclusive hire of the entire venue for the whole day and night. Meaning that all of our guests attending the Wedding were there solely to celebrate with us. We were pleased to be able to attend a food tasting menu, and bring 2 other members of our Wedding party with us for that. It was so special being able to share that and made it feel like a really special night out in the run up to the exciting Wedding plans. The food on the day, as was anticipated was amazing and we've had so many comments on how it was the best Wedding menu people have every experienced and all food choices/allergies/children were catered for regardless, no questions asked. On the day the staff really went above and beyond, so friendly to all of our guests. The staff serving food did so with a smile and the bar staff were friendly and knowledgable. No question or request was too much for Dawn, our Wedding planner and emails and catch up calls were encouraged. We felt totally at ease, knowing that all details of our day were left in safe hands. As a family we have since returned to Downham Hall on numberous occasions, Queens Jubilee celebrations, returning for our anniversary, Mothers Day meals and the odd drop in for coffee or breakfast. Every time we have returned we have been fondly remembered, with members of staff asking about our daughter Penny or retelling funny stories from our special day. Downham Hall may have been our venue choice for our Wedding but it has very much become an integral part of our special day that holds many special memories. We will continue to visit for our Anniversaries and special occasions for many years to come xxxx

Downham Hall was the perfect venue for us. It had an intimate feel and the beautiful countryside surroundings gave our wedding a peaceful setting.
