Beautiful venue, poorly managed

The venue and farm itself are stunning and made a picture-perfect setting for our wedding. The young team working there are also fantastic! So accommodating and hard working. However, the events team leader, Lucy, was an extremely unpleasant and unprofessional person to deal with throughout the planning process, but also on our wedding day itself(!) when numerous guests complained about how rude she was to the them (including my Mother, ie the bride’s Mum, who she almost had in tears before the ceremony even began). She didn’t appear to show any aptitude for events organising during our experience with her, and she certainly doesn’t have people skills.

So many things on the day were set up incorrectly or missed entirely by the events team. For example our favours were only half distributed (we discovered the remaining half still in the original packaging returned to us after the event) and that is just one example of many. We had paid for additional services which were never provided or refunded to us. Additionally we were expected to practically run the day ourselves, like setting sound systems up and moving props around on our own wedding day in spite of the huge amounts of money we had paid.

The food on the day was inconsistent, our meals were great, but my parents’ meals almost inedible and some tables (we discovered later) never received condiments. Their sound system during our wedding breakfast just didn’t work which was a total disaster and the set up of our cake table was both poorly done and in the wrong place, making photos really difficult (we didn’t end up with a single good shot of the cake cutting as a result).

For the wedding reception we had been advised that we could provide our own buffet food but only some of this was put out by the team, with vital items missing (no chutneys or bread for the cheeses put out even though we provided these), no plates(!) or cutlery so eating our creamy wedding cake was extremely difficult. The food table was also so tucked away that a lot of guests simply missed it was there. As such a huge amount of food and cake was leftover and while Lucy did provide some boxes for people to take them away there were nowhere near enough and the next day she informed me (in her usual aggressive and accusatory way) that she she had “had to” throw away most of our wedding cake(!) rather than storing it for us to take home.

In the following weeks we also discovered that they had not returned a number of our belongings, however the icing on the cake (as it were) was when we asked them to return our wedding cake toppers and they casually responded to say they had no idea what had happened to them!

We were advised to send all of our feedback to Stevie Sheppard, the park director, and to really top things off he completely ignored our email so clearly they don’t value their clients or care about providing good service.

All in all I would give the location and farm itself 5*, but the service from management is severely lacking and for a wedding which cost us around £35k for 100 people (and we provided nearly everything ourselves) we were extremely disappointed by how Jimmy’s Farm treated us and how our special day was run.

Our relaxed family bbq and after party!

We decided on a big family affair at Jimmy’s after our intimate ceremony and wedding breakfast in Bury St Edmunds. We wanted to invite our wider families along earlier in the day than most evening offered and we were able to have a cocktail hour and BBQ starting at 6pm before an amazing party at the farm. The farm also offered a more relaxed/ less traditional vibe for our celebrations. As foodies, farm to fork is something we are passionate about so that was another box thatJimmys Farm ticked. The farm restaurant layout also attracted us, with the bar, and seating areas/alcoves and dancefloor on different levels but still open plan so that everybody could enjoy the party going on the dancefloor even if they weren’t dancing! That and the access to the terrace and gorgeous views outdoors across the fields.
Honestly the entire staff were so accommodating and professional on the day, Natalie in the build up was a dream, she listened to exactly what we were all about and made it all happen seamlessly! BBQ was commented on by everyone as was so delicious! Thanks so much to everyone at the farm, I can’t recommend the team and venue highly enough! :)

An incredible wedding venue!

Put simply, we could not have picked a better venue for our wedding. We loved the whole process from the beginning, when we first visited the farm and learned about the amazing animal rescue work they do, to the end, having a good chuckle with Head Chef Andrew about how many potatoes could be eaten by one person. On the day itself, we were lucky to have bright sunshine but Jimmy’s came up trumps with everything else to make the day one to remember: a beautiful marquee with scenic backdrop, a super fun farm experience for all our guests, incredible food in the atmospheric barn, seamless organisation and superb staff who worked brilliantly throughout what was a very long day. And last but not least the pleasure of working with Natalie, fun and resourceful, a safe pair of hands with tonnes of brilliant ideas. Jimmy’s is a beautiful, rustic, charming and unique venue made exceptional by the friendliness of everyone who works there.

Wonderful November Wedding

We held our wedding at Jimmy's Farm in November 2018 and it was absolutely perfect for the cosy autumn/winter feel we wanted for our big day. Both the ceremony and reception rooms looked wonderfully rustic and magical with lots of fairy lights, hay bales and wood beams. The food was exceptional (as it always is at Jimmy's Farm!) and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall we were both extremely happy with how the day went and we love the fact that we got married somewhere that we can go back and visit again and again.

Beautiful Wedding Day

My wife and I had our Wedding Reception here in 2015 and we had a truly incredible day. The setting was breathtaking, the service was excellent and our guests are STILL talking about the food we had! Definitely a memorable day!
