We came across Gilbert Whites House & Gardens on this site and after reading the reviews, it was the first venue on our list. After our first visit the decision was made there and then, we didn't need to look any further. Even in December, the venue looked stunning and it wasn't difficult to picture what it would look like in mid-summer. The reality was even better than we imagined. From that point on, we were guided, by Jamie, through the process of planning our wedding. It was stress free and a lot of fun. Jamie accommodated us with all of our questions and with such patience as we measured up and began the process of creating a day to remember. Having time to set up the day before added to the feeling of community with friends and family joining in. The day itself was simply magical, there are no other words!! All of our guests commented on what an amazing day it was in a beautiful, idyllic and unspoilt setting. Jamie and John, from Lemonstone Caterers and their teams worked seamlessly throughout the day, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. If you are looking for an intimate wedding in a stunning location this is the place to choose.

Myself and my now Wife got legally married in a small ceremony, but what we wanted to do was hold more of an extended Wedding Party style event a month later. We had heard of this venue from word of mouth on social media and it did not disappoint. Simon (the owner) from start to finish was excellent. His relaxed nature made us feel so at ease from the beginning. He even recommended and organised local vendors for our food (hog roast), pudding (ice cream caravan - Caravanilla) basically taking all the stress out of it for us. The staff were amazing, and amended themselves when things started early or late. If your after a great venue, very reasonable pricing, great staff who knows local vendors - I can’t rate this place high enough. Plus it’s a great place to have breakfast the next day as the bar area operates as a cafe during the day. Thanks for making our Party amazing

Can’t thank Issy and the rest of the Alton House team enough. We got married in July and for the last year and a bit they’ve all been so helpful and accommodating. Issy helped us tailor a package for what we wanted and for our budget. The whole day went perfectly thanks to Issy and the team, she helped keep us both calm and helped the whole day go smoothly. It was the most perfect day which we wouldn’t of had without the team thank you so much xx
