Frequently Asked Questions

How much do your services cost?

The cost is really comes down to two main factors, the size of the cake and the amount of labour involved to create it. A four tier naked or semi-naked cake will be one price but the same four tier with marble effect icing, handmade edible floral arrangements, with gold leaf, and piped monogram detailing will be a different price completely, but they will still both be four tier cakes. If you would like to contact me with details of your ideas I'd be happy to provide an estimate.

Do you offer any other services?

Yes we supply dessert tables and wedding cookie favours as well as engagement and anniversary, baby shower, gender reveal, birthday and celebration cakes.

How much notice do I need to give you?

We offer a very personalised and bespoke wedding cake service. For this reason, the amount of wedding cake orders we take on is limited to ensure our quality remains consistently high for each one of our wedding cakes. During peak wedding season we get booked up very quickly, so it's best to try to book as soon as you start to plan your wedding. Some couples book us out a year or more in advance to secure their wedding cake in our diary.

Do you deliver?

Our free wedding cake delivery service is available for wedding cakes within a 10-mile radius of Swanley, which covers Sevenoaks, Orpington, Gravesend, Dartford, Bromley, Bexley. We can also deliver outside this area up to 50 miles of Swanley which covers areas such as Surrey, Maidstone, South Essex (Grays, Rainham, Dagenham, Romford, Brentwood), Medway Towns (Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester) and South London. To set up your cake in central London or if we are required to travel through Central London to reach your venue, the charge is £80, this is to cover ULEZ and Congestion and parking and taxi to the venue for me and wedding cake if necessary. If you want to find out more please let us know the postcode for delivery and we can advise on charges.

Can we try the cakes before we book?

Yes, certainly. Wedding cake meetings are by appointment only and are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and weekends. In the meeting, you can talk through your requirements and taste some cakes. A non-refundable charge of £26.50 is required to book a wedding cake consultation, however should you go ahead with a booking, this charge is deducted from the final quoted price of your wedding cake. Following your meeting, we will send you sketches of your chosen design to review, based on our discussions during the consultation. If you are unable to make a meeting this is not a problem, we can have samples delivered to you at a cost of £10.00 for the 3 classic flavours (additional special flavours charged as above). We can then chat about your requirements over the telephone.

What do I need for my wedding cake consultation

To design a cake for your special day we'll need to know a few things. What style of wedding are you having?? How many guests will the wedding cake need to serve?? Will the cake be served as a token slice after a large meal or will it be served as the dessert course as part of the meal? See our guide to portions sizes here What wedding cake flavours would you like and will there be any dietary requirements? What sort of decorations would you like? Fresh flowers or sugar flowers to compliment the bride’s bouquet or cake jewellery?? ?It will help to bring your ideas to the consultation such as ribbon swatches of your wedding colours, details of the wedding flowers, wedding dress details, and pictures of other wedding cakes you like. We will also have a selection of books and magazines for you to look through.

Are the cake designs on your website the only designs available?

You can choose any wedding cake designs from the website just as they are, or we can tweak colours and details to personalise them for you and your wedding day. Likewise, we can take elements from any wedding cake designs you like that you've seen elsewhere on the web or in magazines. However please bear in mind that as this is an art, no two cakes can be replicated identically to a photo you have seen, and whilst we can draw inspiration and style ideas from photos your wedding cake design will be unique to you, rather than a replication of another designers work. We have a large selection of wedding cake design brochures that we can look through together during our design consultation to get inspiration and your wedding cake designer will sketch you a bespoke design.

Do our cake tiers all have to be the same flavour?

You can have any flavour on any wedding cake tier. Choose from our most popular flavours - Chocolate Fudge cake, Victoria Sponge in vanilla, Zesty Lemon Curd cake or traditional Dark Rich Fruit cake or even one of each. We also have a huge range of alternative flavours, take a look at the flavours page.

We want to dress our cake with real flowers, will you supply these?

We are happy to liaise with your florist to organise your wedding cake flowers to co-ordinate with your other wedding flowers. Please be aware, however, that fresh flowers may contain pesticides, insects, dirt, or other contaminants.

How long before our wedding is the cake prepared?

Fruitcakes are baked in advance to improve the flavour but all our sponge cakes are baked the week of your wedding.

Can you make cakes without nuts or do you do gluten-free or vegan cakes?

We can make your wedding cake gluten-free and/or without nuts and omit the marzipan although we do use nuts on the premises so cannot guarantee that anything is entirely nut-free. Please do notify any nut allergic guests of this risk. We also do vegan cakes in vanilla and chocolate, and other flavours are available as vegan too.

How do we secure you for our wedding date?

Following our consultation your date can be secured in our diary by paying a deposit of 50% of the final quoted price, with the remaining 50% due no later than 2 weeks before the wedding date. Should you wish to secure your date with us before a consultation then a deposit of £50 is required to save the date, this is non refundable but will be deducted from your final price should you go ahead with the wedding cake booking.
