We have smoothed out the rougher edges but preserved the wonderful character and quirks. The setting:
The Bell in Ticehurst is a gorgeous sixteenth-century inn set in the beautiful East Sussex Countryside.
The ambience at The Bell in Ticehurst is distinctly laid back, a little bit quirky and definitely not run-of-the-mill. The Bell is the perfect place to celebrate life, love and happiness. Wedding guests will delight in the quirkiness of this historic pub – it is a treasure trove of goodies and basically just very, very cool.
Although The Bell is located in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, it still has great road and rail access, with Brighton only an hour away and London 90 minutes.
The Vibe:
The Bell's design is eclectic in the truest sense of the word, as if an eccentric nobleman has travelled the world and stuffed his house full of curiosities from his travels. Old typewriters, ancient novels and safari chairs, 30's-style suitcase and mismatched chandeliers; the result is quirky and utterly charming.
The opulent Big Room can accommodate up to 90 guests seated and 120 for your evening celebrations. The distinctive wallpaper and grandiose collection of chandeliers offer you and your guests a unique space to celebrate your partnership, enjoy a beautiful meal and party the night away.
Downstairs in the historic Stables, you can celebrate your nuptials with your very own Red Carpet Walk, which is rolled out just for you along the exceptionally long wooden table. Enjoy drinks and canapes from your personal bar. Under our beautiful pink neon, ‘I will always love you my friend’ is the perfect place for speeches, offering a more informal approach to the tradition.
Our Cosy Snug is your own little space to chill out and relax during the day. After your ceremony, we will smuggle you away to spend a little time by yourselves before the mingling begins. This is also the perfect place for guests, young and old to rest on the comfy seats, enjoy the roaring fire, and get away from the noise (but only for a few minutes!).
The Bell is also equipped with 11 beautifully distinctive rooms, all with their own personality. Your guests won’t want to get up for breakfast! Our amazing Love Nest lodge will be yours for the night, equipped with a fantastic copper roll-top bath, perfect for a long luxurious soak. Warm up with your very own log burner and snuggle up in the Nest, the perfect place to end your day.
To end the night, gather your guests around our firepit to toast marshmallows and wind down with a few last drinks together.

The Most Perfect Day
Becky, Jess, and the whole team were fantastic throughout the lead-up. They stayed in regular contact from the moment we booked, checking in, answering my endless questions, and offering constant reassurance. No matter what concern I brought to them, they always had a calm, helpful solution ready.
As a very Type-A bride, I had a detailed guide about where everything should go and what I envisioned. They executed it flawlessly. They understood my vision completely and brought it to life even better than I imagined.
The day itself was so well organised that I barely noticed the transitions between each part of the wedding. The team supported our guests, kept our wedding party energised and excited, and provided such warm, reassuring smiles throughout the day. Even the bar staff were amazing—on my way to the ceremony, when my nerves kicked in, they were right there to reassure me.
I truly can’t thank the entire team enough for their hard work, positivity, and kindness. I would wholeheartedly recommend The Bell to anyone looking for their dream wedding venue. Yes, the setting is beautiful and has a wonderfully homely feel, but it’s the people who make it truly special. They create an environment where you feel safe, supported, and completely at ease—like the best version of yourself.

Then came the big day - and wow. Jess and the team ran everything so seamlessly it felt like magic. Every detail, every glass topped up, every plate perfectly timed - we didn’t have to lift a finger.
The venue itself? Gorgeous. Cosy, romantic, and full of that warm, quirky charm that makes The Bell so special. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home - just, you know, a much prettier, more enchanted version of home.
We laughed, cried, danced (a lot), and had the most incredible day surrounded by our loved ones. The Bell Inn will forever hold a piece of our hearts - and we’ll be forever grateful to Becky, Jess, and the team for giving us the wedding we’d always dreamed of (and keeping us sane through the endless planning emails!).
If you’re thinking of getting married here - do it. You won’t regret a single second (or email).

The day itself was everything we wanted and more. The venue is beautiful and full of character, and it created such a warm, intimate atmosphere that our guests are still talking about. It felt so special to celebrate in a place with so much charm and personality.
One of the things we really appreciated was that so much was taken care of in-house. From the food and drinks to the music, accommodation and coordination, everything flowed so smoothly. We felt totally looked after from start to finish.
Having our family and friends stay on-site made the whole time even more memorable. The rooms are all so unique and thoughtfully done, and it meant a lot to have everyone together in one place.
We are so grateful to the whole team at The Bell, especially Becky and Jess for giving us the most unforgettable experience. We couldn’t recommend it more!

You couldn't ask for more than The Bell in Ticehurst
We had our wedding over two days - a registrar ceremony on one day, then a celebrant ceremony the day after - and, if you can, we would highly recommend doing the same and staying at The Bell the night before the 'big day', as well as the night-of. Both days were sublime! The night before our official wedding, we had an intimate registrar ceremony in the Stables followed by dinner and drinks with family and bride/groom parties. Not only are the suites and rooms absolutely stunning, it was also lovely that everyone staying on-site could get to know each other, and have breakfast in the pub in the morning! In fact, many of our guests said they wished the wedding had lasted even longer!
The food (we selected the 'Bespoke Menu') was exactly what we had hoped for - it was even better than on the tasting evening we were invited to - and The Bell went above and beyond catering for all dietary requirements (we had a guest who was pregnant, plus multiple vegans, vegetarians and allergies!).
And, of course, no summary of The Bell would be complete without saying a huge thank you to the staff! From Becky, our wedding co-ordinator, to Jess who oversaw things on the actual day (as it was Becky's own 'big day'). to everyone on site, they couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. If there were any issues on the main day - though I doubt it! - we had no idea! The Bell's team ran everything like clockwork, making sure everyone was where they needed to be. The Bell's team was amazing at putting us at ease, no matter what was going on.
Since the wedding, so many of our guests have (proactively) reached out to say what an incredible day(s) it was. I think that speaks volumes.
If you're even thinking about booking The Bell - don't think! Do it! You won't have any regrets.

Within our wedding experience, accomodation at The Bell was included for our loved ones and this was tremendous. Each room was uniquely and exquisitely decorated, showcasing the thoughtful design and care put into creating a one-of-a-kind experience for every guest.
We were so grateful that our family and loved ones could stay on-site, as many of them had traveled from around the world to celebrate with us. The accommodations were not only comfortable and convenient, but also individually styled, making for a truly memorable stay.
The organization and responsiveness of the team at The Bell Ticehurst were exceptional and made our lives so much easier throughout the year we planned our wedding. We couldn’t be more grateful. They were incredibly attentive to our needs and wishes, ensuring that every moment of our wedding day was seamless and stress-free. The fact we could have the food, drinks, party, music, accomodation and assistance with planning was our dream come true as far as wedding planning comes!

From our first meeting, the staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Becky was our main contact leading up to the wedding, and she was kind and responsive; nothing was too much trouble.
On the day itself, Jess and her team ensured that everything ran smoothly and met our expectations. Our wedding breakfast was delicious, and all our guests were served in a timely manner.

Meet the team
I’m Becky, the Weddings & Events Manager at The Bell in Ticehurst, and I’ve been working in the events industry for five years. My journey started at a triathlon events company, where I developed a strong foundation in large-scale event coordination. From there, I moved to a venue focusing on corporate events and some weddings before joining The Bell two years ago. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with many couples to bring their wedding visions to life, ensuring every detail is perfect and their day is truly special. I’m passionate about creating unforgettable experiences and making sure every event is seamless, unique, and filled with joy.
I started working as event staff at 16 and have since worked my way up through various roles. Though I’ve stepped away a few times, I always find myself drawn back to The Bell. Now, as Event Floor Manager, I’m passionate about ensuring smooth operations and creating memorable experiences for both the couple and thier guests. No matter the challenge, I’m dedicated to making every event run seamlessly.
