Durham City Cakes is a premium bakery located near Durham City, Durham. We specialise in modern, structured, and 3D wedding cakes unique to the couple. Amanda, owner, artist, designer, baker, has worked in the industry for over 18 years, and has a wealth of experience to share.

Durham City Cakes is known for its unique, design-led cakes that feature colour, textures, and flow. With a love of nature, Amanda is often inspired by rustic themes and has exceptional attention to detail, whether it's a traditional cascade of sugar flowers or a two-foot stag head.

It is said that a cake should taste as good as it looks, which forms the basis of Amanda's ethos and guarantees all her cakes. Using only premium ingredients, she offers a wide range of cake flavour combinations developed over the years, including catering to those with particular dietary needs, such as gluten-free and vegan.

Our mission is to ensure that each cake is unique to each couple, tailored to your specific requirements, and designed just for you.

What the process looks like ?

1. Starting with your initial enquiry, we will discuss your date,your venue, budget, number of guests and your design and aspirations of your dream cake.

2. I will then provide an estimated quote.

3. if we are both in agreement and you would like to book in, you will then be able to pay a partial deposit of £100, which, secures your date in my diary, and enables me to start the first stages of the design process. The full deposit is 20% of your final quote and will be due following agreement of your quote.

4. Next we will have a face to face consultation to fully discuss your cake and wedding and give you an opportunity to try some delicious cake and select your flavours (Consultations can be in person or via video call.) (tasters can be taken home or posted out prior to online consultations)

5. *Following your consultation, you will get an accurate final quote and my bespoke initial sketch of your wedding cake, this is where your cake will start to come to life. Any tweaking of the design will happen at this stage.

6 The full deposit is now due following the acceptance of the quote.

7.One Month Before: The remaining balance will be due one calander month prior to your wedding date and all details will be checked to ensure nothing has changed.

8. On your Wedding Day: The morning of your wedding (or an alternative time if
arranged) I’ll will arrange with the venue, for the delivey and set up your dream wedding cake in the agreed location at your venue. Spending time to stack and add any finial touches making sure it is perfect and ready to be revealed
