My name is Samantha Portman. I am a modern photographer for modern couples. I create stylish, authentic and beautiful wedding photography to record your day in a way you will be proud of. I shoot unobtrusively, in documentary style, which leaves you free to enjoy your day. I also pair this with super stylish portraits of you and your partner, so you can have photos of you both that you'll want to share and hang on the wall.

Alongside my experience in the TV and film industry (I have many an anecdote!) I have two decades of experience within the wedding industry. This means I am always here to help with any aspect of your day. Ask me anything, I will happily provide answers and advice, however often you wish.

I am the down-to-earth supplier who will most likely feel like a friend. I will be in your corner, helping from start to finish. On the wedding day, I like to work in a relaxed manner and I am well experienced at staying that way even in the most stressful of situations.

For your wedding day, I offer an alternative to the sometimes expected or cheesy wedding photography. Of course, we grab those traditional group shots for mum and dad, but most of the time you can sit back, relax, party and I will ensure to capture it in a way that reflects you at your very best. I work in a candid way for most of the day with nothing posed. But for the couple shoot and your bridal/groom party shots, I am here to make it fun and unique. I love doing this, and so do my couples. Together, we create those group shots that not only show you at your killer best self, but you and your friends also have a blast doing it.

I live in the Essex countryside with my son, but I always have my foot in East London, shooting weddings and for commercial clients. I love to travel the UK, and I shoot weddings frequently all over the country. I have a love affair with the countryside and the English coastline. I regularly go away for the weekend to Brighton and shoot for many clients down there. I think I'm your typical city dweller who loves the city but loves to relax in the countryside as often as possible. Having lived in central London for many, many years, I am so tuned into the fashionable London wedding and feel aligned with those couples. I'm fortunate enough to have a wide breadth of clients, and shooting weddings in the English countryside is something I have enjoyed more and more. I am there to shoot your memories in the mood you set. So whether that is an elegant city wedding or a boho festival wedding in the countryside, I adapt, tune in and capture your day, showing you at your very best.

Services Offered

I cover the whole of the UK and internationally. I simply charge an hourly fee with a standard wedding day booked at 10 hours, and an intimate one, around 4 hours, but we work to your needs. There are no hidden extras to my rates, and you can download your photos or videos as many times as you wish, or any friends or family, once you have read through this endless blurb! Do take a look through my website, it's kinda snappy and keeps it simple. You have a wedding to plan, and I'm here to make it easier. If you want the peace of mind of knowing every moment will be captured, then you can choose my full day fee, and I will be there 2 hours before the wedding and well into the dance floor hours.

To begin, we have a Zoom call. You can call me to chat about your day with no obligation at all. There's no pressure here; I am a firm believer in finding the right fit for your day. If we click, then that's fantastic. I am here for you all the way.

If you want to book, it's a very simple process, and I am here to guide you through it. Many of my couples at first feel overwhelmed at the idea of creating a shot list timeline. I have years of experience to make this fuss-free and totally enjoyable.

Organising your photography need not be stressful at all. I will help you to create a photography timeline for your day, plan shots and be fully briefed on what to expect and how best to handle it. I want you to feel safe knowing your key moments will be captured in a way that you will want to share with loved ones. I will blend into your day, capturing all those moments you will want to keep forever. Then, in the all-important edit, I will use all my knowledge from working in media to create high-end, striking images for you. That is my commitment to you, to record your day in a fuss-free way but with high-end results.

I am a little bit of a nomad wandering from London to Brighton, but I am fortunate enough to shoot nationally and internationally. I love getting to know you and where you live. I will work where you need me to be gladly. For this reason, I do not include travel expenses within the United Kingdom. For international weddings, please email for your bespoke quote.

Packages

I like to keep things really simple, no hidden costs.

On Saturdays, I offer one package, Full Day.

Monday to Thursday, the full day package is available, but you can also pay by the hour up to 8 hours.
