Hotel Wedding Venues in Cumbria

We had an elopement wedding at the Ro hotel and it was the perfect venue for what we wanted. The staff were all great, it was exactly the relaxed, chilled atmosphere that we were going for. Rochelle, who is the wedding coordinator there was always on hand over email leading up to the big day and during the day itself she was around to make sure it all went smoothly. The room we had was gorgeous, as was the food and the scenery was even better. Highly recommend for an elopement wedding or even just for a visit. Thanks everyone!

Where do I even begin? Abbey House Hotel and Gardens is truly something else. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was absolutely perfect. The venue itself is simply stunning – beautifully maintained grounds, elegant interiors, and an atmosphere that made our special day feel like something out of a fairytale. But what made it unforgettable were the people. Every single member of staff was warm, friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel special – right down to the amazing housekeeping team. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Lauren and Laura, our wedding coordinators. These two incredible women were the calm in the chaos. From our very first meeting, they had a gentle, reassuring presence that made us feel instantly at ease. Through all the planning, questions, and last-minute worries, they were there – steady, kind, and always ready to help. It felt like having two friends by our side who genuinely cared about making our day perfect. I honestly don’t know how we would have managed without them. Also, a special mention to Angie, one of the housekeepers – such a lovely, down-to-earth woman who brightened every morning with her smile – and to the manager, whose professionalism and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I truly can’t recommend Abbey House Hotel and Gardens enough. It’s a breathtaking venue, but it’s the people who make it magical. They gave us the wedding of our dreams – and memories we’ll treasure for a lifetime. And to the whole Abbey House team – you weren’t just part of our wedding… you’re now part of our story. Thank you for everything.

Briery Wood is such a beautiful venue and the staff were brilliant from the moment we booked to the end of the wedding day. Every single staff member was amazing, the food was gorgeous and the atmosphere on our day was just what we wanted. Below is an email we have sent to The Dunes after our lovely wedding day! We just wanted to say the biggest, bubbliest, most heartfelt THANK YOU for giving us the most incredible wedding day we could have ever dreamed of. We are still floating on air and honestly can’t put into words how happy and grateful we are. Charlotte and Robbie – you were both absolutely phenomenal. From the very first meeting right through to the big day, you were kind, calm, organised, and full of positivity. No question was too small, no request too much – and believe us, we had a few! The countless emails, the long chats, the final details… you made sure every single detail was covered, and my goodness, it truly paid off. Our day was flawless. Charlotte – thank you especially for your patience and care with Daisy. Getting her down the aisle was a little miracle in itself, and you did it with such grace and warmth. And thank you so much for checking in on me all morning – it honestly helped me feel so calm and reassured. To the amazing bar staff – thank you for your energy and enthusiasm! You weren’t just serving drinks; you were part of the celebration. When our entertainer roped you in, you joined in with such good spirit – everyone noticed and absolutely loved it. Please pass on the biggest compliments to the chef – the food was out of this world! Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour, and so many guests commented that it was the best wedding meal they’d ever had. From the canapés to the evening bites, every bite was delicious. The venue itself looked stunning. The rooms were clean, spacious, and so welcoming. The little touches – rose petals, thoughtful decor, everything in place – it all added such a lovely, personal feel. It really made the overnight stay feel just as special as the day itself. We also want to give a huge thank you to the whole behind-the-scenes team – the cleaners, kitchen crew, setup staff, and everyone else who works so hard but might not always be seen. Your efforts did not go unnoticed. The whole day ran smoothly and on time, and that only happens when there’s a brilliant team running the show. So many of our guests told us it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever been to – and that’s entirely thanks to all of you. You made sure everything flowed beautifully so that we could simply enjoy ourselves, be in the moment, and soak it all in. If anyone ever asks us for wedding venue recommendations, you will be top of the list. Without a doubt. We had the most incredible experience at the Netherwood Hotel for our wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning — all of our guests commented on how gorgeous and beautifully kept it was, with a touch of classic elegance that made the whole day feel extra special. It’s undeniably posh, but the atmosphere throughout was always warm, friendly, and down-to-earth — the perfect blend. What truly sets the Netherwood apart, though, is the staff and their dedication. They genuinely went above and beyond for us. When we couldn’t find a caterer for our Peruvian fiesta the night before the wedding, the hotel stepped in without hesitation. Although their chef was English and had never even been to Peru, the Peruvian feast they created for us was nothing short of spectacular. We hadn’t expected much — but we were blown away. Even our Peruvian guests were amazed by how authentic and delicious it all was. It was such a thoughtful gesture and meant the world to us. Nothing was too much trouble for the Netherwood team. Everything ran so smoothly and with such grace that we were able to relax and just enjoy the whole experience. Our wedding planner was a total star — she made what can often be a stressful process feel effortless and genuinely fun. We’ll be coming back for years to come, as the Netherwood now holds such a special place in our hearts. We couldn’t recommend it more highly — it was perfect in every way.

We had our wedding at Storrs Hall on 26th March 2024, from the get go the team were so amazing, going out of there way and doing little things to make us excited for our big day, we even received a Christmas card the year before from the team! When we arrived we were able to get in to our room right away and they were so happy to have us, talking to us about the details of the day and getting everything organised. We had a meal with our guests the night before at the Bistro and the food was incredible! Service amazing and everything just hit the whole event off with so much positivity! The day of the wedding everyone was so organised and it really was like they were hosting a family members wedding, after the wedding and we returned to our room we even had a card and small gift from the staff as a congratulations. We can’t wait to return to Storrs Hall for anniversary’s just to be a part of that little family again ❤️

We had our wedding here in June 2024 and it was just perfect. All the way from our first meeting with them up until the day, they were so helpful and friendly, always replying to messages quickly and doing anything they could to help (including silly things like "can you send me a photo of your dining chairs please?" Or, "What are the width and height of your tables, I've last minute decided to go for table-runners!") So many of the guests commented how friendly and welcoming the staff were, and how lovely and private and scenic the hotel was. I can't recommend them enough, your wedding will be great if you go with them.

It's been 2 months since our wedding and I've received so many compliments about the reception, with it's stunning scenery, and the delicious food. Many happy memories were made here. Absolutely fantastic venue, caters to different sized groups and the room can be adjusted to comfortably hold up to 200 guests (we had around 160 guests). Great choice of meals. I felt it was incredible value for money for the quality of food, the location and the support we received. The hotel provided expert assistance in planning our special day and were very accommodating with everything we wanted. We had canapes on the lawn followed but a hot and cold buffet and desserts. There was so much food everyone had seconds, and the hotel were very accommodating with different dietary requirements. My one regret... I do wish I took the hotels advice and had evening snacks too, that would have been a nice finish. It was a great atmosphere throughout the day no doubt helped by the luxuriousness of the place, excellent service and the friendliness of the staff. I've been to several weddings in the area, and, although I must be biased as this was my own wedding, but this was the best venue by far in so many ways. It was a lovely place to get ready in too, and so ideal for guests to stay and chat at breakfast the next day. A very popular wedding and events venue for good reason.

The staff at the Crown Hotel were soo good for my friends wedding last week! From start to finish, all the details were absolutely perfect. Watching my best friend walk down the aisle, I couldn't have been happier if it was my own big day. The food was superb and staff excellent along with it, Alison and her team were amazing. Will definitely be coming back!!

Where do I even start with how amazing Lodore falls was from start to finish when planning our wedding. From the very first visit to leaving as husband and wife we felt so at home and cared for by all of the team and hotel staff too. The team are very responsive and go the extra mile to understand what you want from your day and do everything they can to accommodate. The whole stay around our wedding was stunning and the day itself was perfect, even when I forgot a guest book and our flowers for the mothers were late, they always had a solution.
