Unique and Unusual Wedding Venues in Cumbria

From the moment we visited Lilymere we fell in love, and knew we had to have our wedding reception there. No where else compared. The scenery speaks for itself. But what cemented our decision to book Lilymere was the absolute warm welcome we received as soon as we met the team. From start to finish they were friendly, attentive and wanted to help in anyway possible. When it came to vendors visiting Lilymere, we didn’t have to worry about being there or organising it. We simply put the vendor in contact with Richard and he made sure they were looked after. All commented on how beautiful it was and how warmly they were received. Not having to organise calls for each vendor took a huge stress off us and we knew they were in safe hands. The team continuously worked hard behind the scenes to make our dream wedding come true. There were several perfect spots for the tipi at Lilymere but in the end we chose to have ours on the front lawn and, despite the torrential rain, the views were still stunning and the tipi still sturdy. On the big day, our drinks reception vendor broke down and weren’t there to meet our guests! Julie and Lucy were quick to offer a hand and, while we were getting photos, made sure our guests didn’t even realise there was a problem. We don’t know what we would have done without them! What’s worth mentioning too is that it’s a gated estate so there will be no one crashing your wedding! The next day Richard was on hand to help in anyway possible with the dreaded clearing down and made it utterly seamless so we could get it done quickly and not have to worry about moving the rubbish on. As well as booking the land, we also booked the boat house overlooking the lake. We stayed the evening before and the evening of the wedding, and we’re so glad we did. The boathouse is incredible. Beautifully presented, warm and stunning views across the lake. It doubled up as a place where the bridal party got ready the morning of the wedding, and later the grooms party could change for the reception. It has all the amenities you could want; including a some thoughtful treats from the team! Additionally, it proved super handy having it throughout the day for photos that still encompassed the views, but provided shelter in the rain too. In summary, if you want the most beautiful back drop in the Lakes, with a team that will be on hand to support you, there’s no need to look any further than the Lilymere Estate.

Allan Bank was the perfect venue for our intimate DIY wedding. The house is beautiful and set in a wonderful location with stunning views, extensive grounds, and wildlife including red squirrels. We loved the cosy family atmosphere, as well as the venue’s versatility and charm, it has character! Annabel, Heather, Chris and the NT team were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout the entire process, from our initial enquiry to the post wedding day tidy up. We couldn’t have done it without them and are so grateful for all their advice and support. We’re so happy that Allan Bank has become a special place for us and that we can continue to visit throughout our life. It was the perfect venue for our wedding and we would recommend it in an instant to anyone getting married.
