I’m Sue Burton, an award-winning Celebrant & Wedding Stylist, passionate about creating beautifully crafted, unique wedding ceremonies across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, as well as further afield.
Your wedding day is such an exciting time and I’m dedicated to making the journey even more special. I focus exclusively on ONE wedding per day, allowing me to create a calm, personal atmosphere with no rush or time pressure. I’ll be waiting at the aisle until you’re ready to go, and I won’t be in a hurry to dash away to another ceremony. I’m available to support you at any time, including any last-minute queries up to and including your wedding day.
Every couple also benefits from a rehearsal at their venue, providing a chance to familiarise themselves with the ceremony flow, positioning, and even photo-perfect moments with personal styling tips - including how to master the iconic “dip kiss” pose and even a few steps to help with your first wedding dance! I don’t just deliver your ceremony, I’m also a wedding stylist, so I’ll ensure you not only look good but feel completely relaxed and truly enjoy your special day.
As both a Celebrant and Wedding Stylist, I guide couples through the entire process to ensure they not only look and feel amazing but are relaxed and able to enjoy every moment. As a former Registrar with over 15 years of experience, I also provide expert advice on the legalities of marriage, helping couples navigate both the practical and ceremonial elements with confidence. This unique blend of legal expertise and creative freedom ensures a ceremony that is both meaningful and memorable.
What sets me apart is the relationship I build with each couple well in advance of the ceremony, offering a level of personal connection and reassurance not typically provided in Registrar-led ceremonies. With me, couples know exactly who will be delivering their ceremony and guiding them through one of life’s most meaningful moments.
Having delivered hundreds of weddings - including multi-cultural ceremonies - I bring valuable insight into choosing the perfect location. I’m happy to advise on venue pros and cons and am based within easy reach of Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and Derbyshire.

With a few bullet points about our life together so far she created a beautiful love story that she shared with our friends and family during the ceremony along with delivering a beautifully unique love lock ceremony (bespoke to Sue and her ceremonies). Sue also gave key advice for during our ceremony to help keep us relaxed and make sure our photos could be captured perfectly (even down to hand positioning!). As a celebrant rather than registrar, we were not restricted on time, stressed by paperwork, or bound to formalities that didn’t fit our personalities and how we wanted our day to look and feel, it was truly personalised and to top it off, Sue looked fabulous, ensuring everyone in our ceremony photos and videos looked like a part of our wedding… she really does consider every last detail. However, during a visit to a local wedding fayre, we had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Sue. She introduced us to a world of possibilities for creating a ceremony that truly reflected us as a couple. We were captivated by the idea of her retelling our unique love story as part of the ceremony — even before discovering the beautiful concept of the Love Locks. The symbolism of two heart-shaped locks physically joined together perfectly represented the love and unity at the heart of our marriage.
From our first meeting, Sue immediately put us at ease. She arranged Zoom consultations to answer all our questions and met with us a few days before the wedding for a rehearsal. This thoughtful preparation gave us a clear picture of how everything would unfold, allowing us to be fully present and enjoy the day itself. She even shared her expert tips for perfecting the iconic “dip kiss” — something we would never have mastered without her guidance!
When the big day arrived, everything ran seamlessly. Sue’s calm and reassuring presence set the tone for a truly unforgettable ceremony. Meet the team
Weddings really are my passion! I’ve always been drawn to creativity and storytelling.
My career began as a personal stylist and image consultant, where I built a successful consultancy business working closely with clients on personal styling, wedding attire, and thoughtfully curated bridal colour palettes. Weddings were a natural part of that journey, so when the opportunity to become a Registrar arose, it felt like a natural next step - allowing me to remain immersed in the wedding world while embracing a new professional challenge.
With 15 years working as a Registrar, the limitations of registrar-led ceremonies became increasingly clear. Each day involved officiating multiple weddings, often without meeting couples until moments before the ceremony. The structure was fixed, the wording prescribed, and there was little space for creativity or individuality. I felt couples truly deserved something totally unique.
Everything shifted when my two professional worlds began to merge. I found myself officiating weddings for some of my own styling clients, and suddenly it all clicked. I realised the ceremony — the very heart of the wedding day — was being overlooked, and I felt a strong desire to change that.
Becoming an independent celebrant allowed me to combine all my skills. With a background in writing stories and fashion editorials for magazines, I now craft ceremonies that weave each couple’s love story into something authentic, emotional, and completely unique. No two ceremonies are ever the same.
Creativity sits at the heart of everything I do. From unique symbolic elements to the flow and tone of the ceremony, every detail is intentional and thoughtfully tailored. My background as a personal stylist deeply influences the way I design and deliver ceremonies. Couples often tell me how reassuring it feels to be guided not just through the words, but with personal styling too.
As both a Celebrant and Wedding Stylist, my role extends beyond the ceremony itself. I love helping couples feel composed and confident — whether that’s guiding through posture, positioning, or movement during key moments, mastering the iconic dip-kiss, or even teaching a few simple steps for the first wedding dance (a little nod to my experience as a dancer!). These details bring a polished flow to the day that couples truly appreciate.
As the celebrant standing at the top of the aisle, I’m present in some of your most cherished photographs. I take great care in choosing what I wear, always considering the venue, season, colour palette, and overall aesthetic of the day. Whether your wedding is relaxed or formal, modern or traditional, I’m always happy to dress in harmony with your vision.
What I love most about being a celebrant is the honour of being invited into such deeply meaningful moments. Standing alongside couples as they declare their love and commitment — often in the most beautiful, intimate locations — never loses its magic.
