Both the wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Manor by the Lake in Cheltenham. The ceremony started at 3pm, although guests had been mingling to the sound of orchestral music since 2pm.
As the theme music from the Princess Bride played, Erin was escorted down the aisle by her father, preceded by her six bridesmaids. The bride and groom asked their close friend Donna to perform a handfasting ceremony for them both, and had a groomsmen recite Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116, as a nod to their English degree.
Erin’s cousin read out an extract from Philip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ and the couple further involved their families by asking the bride’s brother and the groom’s sister to witness the signing of the register.
The newlyweds left the ceremony to ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ by Queen, which is Oliver’s favourite song.
