Choosing Polhawn Fort was hands-down the best decision we made for our wedding. The venue itself was the most beautiful, comfortable venue we had ever been to, but the staff really do make it the perfect place to get married.
Having the venue for the entire weekend meant there was plenty of time to do everything and anything we wanted/needed. There was no rushing, absolutely zero stress and having the beautiful rooms there meant we and our loved ones stayed all weekend to make the most of it.
The flexibility to choose whatever vendors we wanted really meant the wedding was ours - we were able to do whatever we wanted and plan everything as detailed as we wanted. The venue itself was already perfect so we spent nothing on decorations, which you don’t really think about when booking.
We opted for a March date, which we knew could go either way with the weather. On the morning of, we had a few spots of rain - James set the venue up outside and in so that we could choose where to have the ceremony at the last minute if we needed. As you can see from the pictures, outside was a no brainer and we have just received the most stunning photos with the incredible background imaginable.
If I could give any advice to any brides or grooms to be, it would be to have your wedding here. Nothing was too much and James was on hand from when we booked to help us with any information we needed to make sure our day ran smoothly.
We used Planning Elegance (Gemma) for our coordination and clean up - they were absolutely FANTASTIC and the day ran seamlessly from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble. Gemma was extraordinary.
Over all, whilst I’m bias, a number of our guests told us it was the best wedding they had been to and we first-hand witnessed some of their breath being taken away when they arrived, simply by how beautiful the venue and views are. Book Polhawn Fort - you will have no regrets!! We wish we could do it all again!

Driving into the venue is like driving into another world!

We knew we wanted our wedding to be uniquely us. With my husband’s family routes in Cornwall, our love of the water and our perchant for a party, this was the place for us.
We had our ceremony outside overlooking the beautiful coastline. A drinks and cocktail reception on the lawn, a delicious wedding breakfast in the main hall and golden hour of dreams on the private beach.

We loved that we could have the venue for the weekend, with many of our family coming from far and wide, being able to spend those extra days together is so precious.

The fort also lets you choose whichever suppliers you like, meaning our day could be exactly what we wanted. Free flowing wine we provided ourselves, our own decor, our choice of caterers, a cocktail hour, the band from our favourite rugby club back home and Cornish pasties from our favourite bakery for evening food!

We recently had our wedding at this stunning venue and couldn’t have been happier. The location is absolutely beautiful with incredible views of Whitsand Bay. We were so lucky to have sunshine all day and the most gorgeous sunset to end the evening.

The booking process was really easy and informative, and the team were fantastic from start to finish. We highly recommend visiting the venue as much as you can in the lead-up to the big day; it really helps you make the most of the space. One of the best things about the venue is how flexible it is - you're free to choose whichever suppliers you want, allowing you to truly make the day your own.

We would 100% recommend hiring a wedding coordinator familiar with the venue, as it’s quite a unique setting and having someone with experience can offer so many useful pointers and help the day run smoothly. Communication from the team was exceptional throughout, and overall, we felt it was amazing value for money.

We recently had our wedding at Polhawn Fort, and we couldn’t have asked for a more magical experience. The venue itself is stunning—set on the coast with breathtaking views and beautiful gardens that made for the perfect backdrop to our special day. The decor and ambiance of the fort are equally amazing, making it a unique and memorable choice.

Polhawn Fort was actually the first venue we viewed, and we booked it on the spot—it was just that perfect. One of the key reasons we chose it was the extended hire time of three days, allowing us to fully enjoy the space and spend quality time with our families. Another major plus is the flexibility with suppliers; we weren’t tied to specific vendors, which gave us the freedom to personalise every aspect of the wedding. Of course, this meant a bit more work in selecting suppliers, but we had incredible support from Gemma, a coordinator recommended by the fort. She was a lifesaver and provided brilliant suggestions to make the process seamless.

On the day, everything ran flawlessly. The staff were exceptional—professional, helpful, and so attentive. They clearly know exactly what they’re doing and ensured that every detail was perfect, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy ourselves.

If you’re looking for a coastal venue with charm, flexibility, and an experienced team, Polhawn Fort is absolutely the place to go. We’ll cherish our time there forever!

Wow!!! We could not have made a better choice of venue! The sheer beauty of the scenery and the fort were only secondary to the remarkable Polhawn Fort staff. James and Kyran could not have been more responsive and kind, answering every question, making truly useful recommendations, and holding our hands through all of our wedding planning. They made planning for a wedding with people arriving from three different continents a breeze. Polhawn Fort is worth every penny to experience such topnotch service. We had our wedding at Polhawn Fort in May and it was simply the best!
When we viewed Polhawn Fort 2 years ago it took our breath away, it was the first venue we viewed and we booked in that day, absolutely stunning. All our guests were wowed too and kept saying to us we’ve won the wedding of the year by our venue alone!
On top of that, James and the team were extremely helpful and went above and beyond with any query we had, and always got back to us so quickly! They were on hand to help with all our vendors and left us all to it the following day so we had the place to ourselves for a little BBQ after party, (you have the venue for the whole weekend, Friday-Monday which I thought was an absolute bargain and meant your day wasn’t over so quickly!).
You also have full access to a private beach and plenty of parking for all guests. The bedrooms are decorated so beautifully and the beds are comfy!
We loved that there is no corkage so we could bring as much booze as we liked, and there are 2 commercial fridges which is great, the caterers had one and we had the other for all the BBQ food which was delivered by Tesco the day we arrived.
I’m so glad we had our wedding at Polhawn Fort, it couldn’t have been more beautiful and we can’t wait to visit next year to relive our weekend again. Thank you so much, it was an extremely special day.

We were married here in March 24 and managed to have the ceremony outside on the beautiful lawn overlooking the sea. The entire venue is perfectly presented, including the accommodation which our guests loved. The staff could not be more helpful and made both the wedding and the whole weekend run so smoothly. Nothing was too much bother. All our other suppliers enjoyed working there too! It was a fantastic experience that we will remember and treasure forever.

What can I say other than wow! We fell in love with this venue from the start but every visit it got more magical and the wedding day was truly out of a fairytale. James was incredible helping us set up and answering all of the little detail questions that came to mind. The set up and check out was run smoothly and really helped relived some stress of the day. He also ensured all of the suppliers where all sorted and assisted with the running of the day. This was a dream come true location and we did not stop hearing how incredible the venue was from all our guests. I felt so honoured to make our special day our own by having the freedom to bring in our own suppliers abd decorations. It really did have a personal touch. This day will be remembered by my new husband and I for the rest of our life's and polhawn fort will be the highest recommendation from us to all couples considering it for their day. Polhawn is absolutely perfect in everyway! Whether it's rain or sunshine you have it all! The sew views are incredible, the grand hall is stunning and the private beach just tops it off! The team were so friendly and couldn't have done enough for us. Everything about this place is perfect and we couldn't recommend Polhawn Fort enough. Thank you for giving us the wedding of our dreams.

When we very first visited the fort we just knew it was our place to become husband and wife. We didn’t even look at other venues. What a beautiful place and setting. All staff are very helpful and communication is excellent. Everything was made super easy and nothing was too much for the staff especially James. They’re very welcoming and feel like friends very quickly. The fort is very well equipped with everything you could need for a dry hire wedding venue. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable with the added bonus of en-suite. Communication is the key with dry hire venues and to be honest I thoroughly enjoyed organising our day myself. Polhawn can recommend suppliers but you are also free to choose who you wish. I would recommend Polhawn fort to anyone who is looking for an old (with new) historical venue, sea view and its own private beach.
