Where on earth do I begin?! Five stars honestly don’t come close to doing Richard and APT Catering justice. If I could give a hundred, I would!

Richard catered our wedding in Cornwall, and I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that choosing him was one of the very best decisions we made for our entire wedding.

But don’t just take my word for it. One of our guests summed it up perfectly:

“Not the best food we’ve ever had at a wedding. Not the best food we’ve ever had at an event. Not even the best food we’ve ever had in a restaurant. Quite simply, the BEST food we’ve EVER tasted. EVER.”

And that wasn’t just one person’s opinion. Our guests were absolutely blown away. Days later, people are STILL talking about the food! One couple apparently spent their entire FOUR-HOUR journey home talking about how incredible it was! I mean, what more could a chef possibly wish for?!

From our very first conversation, Richard was an absolute dream to work with. Warm, friendly, incredibly professional, bursting with wonderful ideas and so accommodating. Nothing, and I genuinely mean NOTHING, was ever too much trouble. I have an egg allergy, and Richard effortlessly adapted everything to be egg-free for me, without compromising a single bit of the magic.

Before the wedding, Richard welcomed us into his gorgeous restaurant, Couch’s, in Polperro, Cornwall, where he personally cooked us the most extraordinary tasting menu. We left completely speechless. The creativity, the presentation, the flavours, the attention to detail… every single course was a little masterpiece. We knew there and then that we had found someone truly special.

And somehow, on our wedding day, he managed to exceed even those ridiculously high expectations!

The quality of the food was simply exceptional. Every dish was beautifully thought out, perfectly executed and bursting with flavour. This wasn’t just wedding catering. This was fine dining at its absolute finest, delivered with such care, passion and extraordinary talent.

What makes Richard even more special is the person behind the food. He genuinely cares. He listens, he goes above and beyond, and you can feel the pride and love he puts into everything he creates. He made the whole experience so wonderfully easy and enjoyable, from our first conversation to the very last plate served.

Richard, you are quite honestly my new favourite chef. And I don’t say that lightly! We have already decided that Couch’s will be somewhere we return to for the rest of our lives. Not just because your food is out of this world, but because you made such a lasting impression on us.

Our wedding day was one of the most special days of our lives, and the food was one of its absolute highlights. To have our guests still raving about it long after the celebrations have ended is something we will never forget.

Thank you, Richard, from the bottom of our hearts. You didn’t just feed our wedding guests. You gave every single one of us a truly unforgettable culinary experience.

We had an amazing experience working with Richard and team for our wedding. We had an initial idea of what we wanted, and he advised us on the perfect menu for both our wedding day and the day after. He hosted us for a tasting at his restaurant, where we had such a delicious meal we were confident he would be the best partner for our day. He expertly handled the drinks and canapes after our ceremony (the crab claws were a real highlight), to the wedding breakfast (sharing boards, a self-served roast and trio of desserts), to the cream tea (we served instead of a cake) through to the late night Cornish pasties. He even handled an alcohol run for us on the day, when we ran out of gin! The next day he organised a BBQ with salmon and crab and lots more. Everything ran so smoothly, service was seamless and meant we could relax and really enjoy the weekend. Our guests raved about the food and continue to do so. We can't recommend him highly enough and we try and visit the restaurant as often as we can.

It was almost 10 years ago that we used Richard and Apt but we still remember the meal like it was yesterday. There were sharing platters of beautiful seasonal Cornish produce and still one of the best lamb roast we’ve ever eaten.

We’ve been back regularly to the restaurant for various anniversaries and can’t see ourselves stopping anytime soon.
