Hi, we're Mark & Katie, the husband-and-wife team behind Mark The Occasion Hire.
Based from our Matlock Showroom, we're passionate about helping couples create beautiful, memorable weddings without the stress that often comes with planning.
Our journey began after our own wedding in October 2023. Like so many couples, we wanted our day to look incredible while staying true to our budget and style. We soon realised how important it was to have suppliers who genuinely listened, offered honest advice, and cared just as much about the little details as we did.
That experience inspired us to build Mark The Occasion Hire.
What started with a handcrafted set of Rustic LOVE letters has grown into a trusted wedding décor business, providing stunning venue styling throughout Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, the Peak District, and surrounding areas.

They went above and beyond!
Mark and Katie really marked the occasion at our wedding this August. We found them after the decorators we previously went with went bust, they quickly put our panic to rest, what an upgrade! Consistently they went above and beyond what we asked of them, and the end result on the day was an absolutely beautiful sunset themed wedding!
We had guests, some who we know to have the highest of standards, coming up to us informing us of how much they loved the venue and decor.
Our expectations were not just met, they were exceeded, Mark and Katie’s hard work produced the best day my wife and I have ever had and we will never forget!

Brilliant family company
Fantastic people to deal with, arrived on time and really added to our perfect day. Very accommodating to us adding our own decorations and happy to help with our overall set up.
Willing to add as little or as much as needed unlike some companies who stated a minimum cost of £2k regardless of needs. This is not the case with mark the occasion, I’m really crafty so only needed to add a few bits we were doing a lot of it ourselves and Mark the occasion worked perfectly alongside us.
Would very highly recommend this family business!

Amazing venue dresser!
Mark and his partner dressed our wedding venue and they did an amazing job! I’d sent them photos last year of what I wanted the venue to look like and the stage etc and they brought it all to life on the day. The bouquet was just like my inspiration photo. The centrepieces were perfect just like I had imagined. We had an outdoors ceremony and they dressed the outdoors area beautifully. I could not recommend them enough. They were so responsive and attentive. They made a an already beautiful venue look fabulous!

Highly recommend
Mark & Katie were simply brilliant. From meeting them, creating a package that worked with our budget and needs, to setting up and taking down. The items they provided were outstanding and the service second to none. They both even helped set up some of the items I'd done myself. Huge thank you to both for helping create our perfect day x

The best service in the world.
Mark and Katie were amazing with everything, from helping us with our budget, including some of things we brought ourselves / made. The communication was fantastic. The room looked more amazing than I could have imagined. Could not recommended them more

We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Mark the Occasion. From the very beginning they were incredibly caring, professional, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. Excellent! Truly beautiful designs.
Mark and Katie were with us from the start. The planning process was stress free and easy. We even had a WhatsApp group so that when I had ideas I could put them in there for inspiration.
The decoration and all of the little touches made our day!! Would recommend to anyone planning a wedding.

Professional and creative!
From the initial call made to Mark the Occasions both Mark and Katie looked after us and provided us with lots of options for the whole day! Visiting their show room demonstrated how professional and creative they both are and provided a wide range of ideas as we were clueless on what we wanted! The WhatsApp group chat was specially useful as we could put designs in there and both of them would respond!
On our big day Mark and Katie were there throughout the day to organise the room and it was beautiful! More than we could have dreamed of! The post box for the cards and the table flowers blew us away!

Our wedding.
Mark and Katie were absolutely incredible! They decorated both our ceremony and reception, and I still can’t get over how amazing the room looked. The transformation was unbelievable .. it was even more beautiful than I ever imagined. I gave them a theme and a vision, and they brought it to life… only better!
Their attention to detail, creativity, and passion truly showed in every part of the décor. On top of that, they are such lovely people bwho go out of their way to help and make everything perfect. We honestly couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you both for making our day look like a dream!
