Makeney Hall was the most fantastic venue, right from us booking and me emailing with many, many questions, all the way to the wedding day and the morning after! We booked the exclusive-use package and it was amazing! All of our guests have since said what an incredible day it was and how fantastic the venue was. The food was amazing -my only issue was that I was so full from our wedding breakfast, I didn't get to try all the BBQ evening food -my parents have since teased me about this as they said the burgers were the best they'd ever had! If you're thinking about booking Makeney, do it!

Makeney are simply the best our professional wedding venue hosting our wedding. Here was an exclusive event which provided an exclusive venue that has the most professional welcoming seamless organisation I have ever seen one of the things that we really noticed about makeney was that the staff run like clockwork everything got done and sorted without us even noticing it was as if the staff weren’t really there, this only added to the very personal feeling that the venue offers. The venue dresser and the catering were fantastic. The venue dresser captured my vision perfectly and went above and beyond to make sure it was absolutely everything that we wanted. The catering was amazing our guests were overwhelmed with how good the food was we had the gold menu which suited everybody and there was plenty of it to go around this venue offers excellent value for money with the exclusive package. You really do get everything. We didn’t hesitate to book with Nicola when we first met her. She’s so professional she’s heartwarming welcoming and nothing was ever too much trouble for Nicola the whole booking process from beginning to the morning after our wedding was simply seamless and I would do it over and over again. Our wedding ceremony took place outside which is such a stunning place to have your wedding. It had rained a little earlier in the morning and whilst the guests were silent, you could hear the Pitter patter of raindrops falling from the trees surrounding us it was just so gorgeous these memories will stay with me forever. The venue itself is beautiful. It’s really original beautifully furnished and that can host a substantial amount of guest which is one of the reasons why we chose this venue so all our guests could stay over for the night and we had breakfast in the morning and it was just perfect. We cannot thank Makeney Hall enough for the provision of their services and we will be back again not to get married but to have our wedding anniversary celebrations with you we cannot wait to see you again if you are thinking of booking Makeney I would absolutely recommend that you do you will have the most magical day

We wanted an outside wedding in July that started quite late in the day. Everything we asked for was accomadated by Nicola the events manager and Scott the chef. We had special requests for a number of things and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were fabulous, food was excellent, service was attentive and everyone commented on the venue itself.

We enquired about having our wedding reception at Makeney Hall Hotel in January 2025 for October 2025 and Nicola was very responsive and friendly! They had the date that we needed and it was easy to email and set up the dates for the meet and greet. Everyone we met and/or spoke to were so friendly and informative! We did have a budget and Nicola worked with us to make sure everything was perfect.
Myself and a few family members were able to set up our decorations the day before which was really handy!
On the day of our wedding, all of the staff were so lovely and congratulatory! All of our guests complimented the hotel and also the rooms, they liked how there was lots of different nooks and weren’t all piled into one room all evening.
We went for the bronze menu option and the food was absolutely delicious! 10/10!
My husband and I would recommend the venue to everybody, it’s absolutely beautiful and has good views/gardens for photographs!

This year was our Golden Wedding Anniversary and we chose Makeney Hall for our celebrations. It is a beautiful hotel in lovely grounds and with a choice of rooms depending upon how many guests are coming.
Our event was tailored on a wedding package and we were helped with all the planning by lovely Nicola. Nothing was too much trouble and this was true of all the staff.
We had an afternoon tea in a delightful conservatory, the food was excellent and plentiful and the staff were very flexible when two of our guests were late arriving. For our evening party we had a buffet, which was equally enjoyable and a disco reccomended by Nicola. We were not disappointed, the DJ was excellent.
I would not hesitate to reccomend Makeney Hall and it's staff for any celebration and would like to take this opportunity to say thank you.

Nicola was extremely helpful in the planning and organising of the day and really made the process so enjoyable and easy.
The venue was perfect. The hotel was clean and well organised. Our bridal suite was clean and spacious and had wonderful views of the gardens below. We had wonderful weather and were able to use the outdoor area which was a beautiful spot to hold our ceremony, all of the team were so helpful throughout the day and helped us to make sure everything went smoothly. The grounds and garden of Makeney Hall were lovely and well maintained and really helped in capturing some amazing wedding photos.

We had a beautiful and truly memorable day and cannot recommend Makeney Hall enough.

Nicola and the team were fantastic. We'd heard stories of venues that throw up hidden costs and extras, but this wasn't the case with Makeney. Everthything was as advertised and better. Nicola and team were great, their experience showed and everything ran really smoothly on the day. We had lots of bits and flowers for family to set up and they were very accommodating helping us store and set up bits the night before. The venue itself is beautiful and the perfect combination of what we were looking for: woodland (but under cover), hotel (so no traveling back on the night), edge of the peak district, intimate venue with lots of quite spots for guest to step away when needed. Just perfect and without breaking our budget! (We went for midweek - Thurs)

We did the all inclusive package at Makeney, and are so happy we did. Having everything included in 1 price, including all 46 rooms, made planning so much easier, and the service provided on and up to the day was amazing.
The staff more or less went completely unnoticed by me during the day, which is a good thing and shows what pros they are all at making the day run seamlessly and effortlessly for us, and were so discreet and kind if they did have a question for me. The conservatory & woodland area are beautiful for the wedding breakfast and ceremony. And the food was absolutely delicious, we had so many compliments. A massive thank you to the whole team for being part of the best day of our lives. A big shout out to Nicola, Jade & Eliott, and the staff for the excellent service. We would recommend Makeney in a heartbeat to anyone.

We got married at Makeney Hall on 05.06.2025. I would definitely recommend Makeney Hall as a venue. They were accommodating, great location and had a back up plan Incase things went wrong like the rain!

We got married outside in the woodland garden and they were lovely to check to see if we still wanted that plan since it was raining the morning of! We had the option of umbrellas or to get married inside.

The wedding co-ordinator was a lot more helpful closer to the wedding! Especially about little details since I am a little OCD about things and did answer most questions I had throughout the 2 years of planning our wedding!

Best decision to get married here!

Nicola and the team at Makeney Hall couldn’t have worked any harder for our day to be as perfect as it was.. Nicola as our co-ordinated was so organised from start to finish .. from the months and weeks before to the actual day .. we didn’t have to worry about anything .. venue was perfect .. everyone said what a beautiful place to have a wedding .. the weather definitely helped as everyone could be in the gardens .. the out side ceremony area looked amazing.. the food for the breakfast was delicious and easily accommodated 40 people with ease.. The evening again was just perfect we opted for the BBQ for 120 people and so many guest remarked it was the best BBQ they have had .. I highly recommend Makeney Hall as the place to make you feel magical.

We booked our wedding with just 10 weeks’ notice, and Nicola turned it into our dream day. Everything was absolutely perfect, and we never had to chase or ask for anything throughout the day. Her calming and reassuring presence made me feel completely at ease.

The outdoor area for our ceremony was an absolute dream and made the day even more magical. It created the most beautiful setting, and we couldn’t have wished for anything better.

Given how last-minute our wedding was, we were worried we might miss important details—but the day was seamless. Nicola allowed us to be creative while guiding us through food and drink options, ensuring everything was perfect for our guests, including those with dietary requirements.
