I cannot rate The West Mill highly enough.

It was the second venue myself and my husband went to and we knew it was the one, so much so that we canceled other venue viewings.

They know exactly what they are doing and the day ran seamlessly (special thanks to Nicola at The West Mill)

I am very much an over thinker and worrier but I can honestly say I had no nerves on my day as I just knew the venue had it covered, and they really did.

We had so many guests speaking to us about the venue and how amazing it was, even now, weeks after we are still being told what a great venue!!

We can't not mention the food, WOW, it's amazing and whatever you pick you cannot go wrong.

From the very beginning, The West Mill just felt different. It had all the atmosphere and character we wanted without losing the warmth or humanity that can sometimes disappear in larger wedding venues. The building itself is stunning, but what really made the experience was the people.

Jane, our Event Manager, was exceptional throughout. Calm, organised, responsive and endlessly patient, even when we were juggling logistics, table plans, suppliers, family dynamics, paper aeroplanes and the general chaos that comes with trying to bring a very “us” kind of celebration to life. She somehow managed to hold everything together without ever making us feel pressured or like we were just another event in the diary.

Most importantly, Jane alleviated so much of my anxiety on the day itself. She created the space for us to actually step back, breathe and enjoy the celebration knowing everything was in hand, organised and being quietly managed behind the scenes. That level of trust is priceless on a wedding day, and I honestly can’t overstate how much that meant.

Jason, the night manager, was also brilliant. Quietly attentive, calm and constantly moving things along behind the scenes without ever intruding on the atmosphere of the day. So much of what ran smoothly clearly did because of the care and professionalism of the team around us.

The whole team were kind, incredibly good at what they do and always seemed one step ahead. We felt looked after from beginning to end, shielded from any stress behind the scenes and free to actually be present with the people we love.

What we created at The West Mill didn’t feel like a formula wedding. It felt personal, joyful, relaxed, emotional, slightly chaotic in all the right ways and completely unapologetically us and the venue gave us the space for that to happen.

We honestly couldn’t have imagined celebrating anywhere else.

From the very moment we entered The West Mill on our venues tour, we knew this was the place we wanted to get married!! From the stunning riverside location, to the four storey, magnificent mill building, this beautiful palce allows you to have the perfect day spread across all four floors with no room re-organisation required between the ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the party…. It’s got such a feel good vibe about it. Outside, it’s bright and spacious courtyard area with converted horse box bar, it’s lovely riverside gardens, and inside, It’s airy red brick rooms, with the rustic natural features, tall windows overlooking the river weir, the polished engineering brick floors and copper ceiling with industrial style lighting, and the New York styled bar area with its leather wraparound booths and comfy chairs paired up with original wrought iron feature tables and a great selection of drinks. Hannah and the team were absolutely brilliant from start to finish, combining down to earth approach to meeting your every need for putting on the production that is your most perfect day!! Nothing was too much trouble. We could not have chosen a more perfect venue for our special day.

The West Mill is a beautiful place for a wedding. Its industrial vibe and heritage speak for itself and the surroundings make for wonderful photo opportunities. Hayley guided us through the day and made sure we were all where we needed to be in time. The food is excellent!

We had a fantastic day at the West Mill, the staff were super helpful and supportive through the process and on our wedding day. Such an atmospheric and well-thought-through series of spaces to use and many compliments about the venue from our guests.

Very few words can’t describe how amazingly beautiful this venue is and all of the staff on the day made our wedding day absolutely PERFECT! The whole flow of the day was seamless and required no thought/stress from my bride or I to make sure things were where they needed to be! Must mention Nikki (our planner) and Charlotte (Catering Manager) who both personally made sure we were looked after on the day and that we took our little moments together to take in the day (and indulge in the canapés!). Every one of guests couldn’t stop commenting on how incredible the food was - unbelievably delicious!!
The accommodation at the venue (both night before and after) was exactly what was needed! They are so beautifully designed and the two lovely ladies (apologies didn’t catch their names) who cooked us breakfast served up a perfect full English for a hangover!

The West Mill is thee perfect venue and it made our wedding day beyond special.

We fell in love with The West Mill as soon as we pulled into the courtyard! We knew we wanted an industrial style venue, and The West Mill offered everything we were looking for and more. The fact that it’s set across four floors means that there’s no awkward kicking out whilst a room gets turned around, and you never have to worry about the weather because it’s as beautiful indoors as it is outside.
The staff were always incredibly helpful, from showing us around to answering all of our questions to managing our day. Special thanks to Karen, our Event Manager, who was on hand to make sure our day went to plan.
For any couples looking for a more unusual style of venue, with beautiful indoor and outdoor space, we couldn’t recommend The West Mill enough.
The food is also top notch, provided by their catering partner Jenkinsons. We had so many comments from our guests about how much they enjoyed it all!

Such a gorgeous venue and everything works seamlessly. I would give a special shout out Alex our catering manager who checked in with us through our the day and made sure we had food and drinks to keep us going through the busyness of the day.

Words cannot express how truly incredible our wedding was. The staff at The West Mill made our day so magical and so perfect. From initial enquiry to the day itself, the team was extremely friendly, accommodating and their communication was incredible. We did a lot of DIY decor and they brought our vision to life, if not better! The value for money is unmatched, we looked at a lot of venues in the surrounding area and it was really refreshing to hear there was no hidden costs. If anything, we were surprised by how much was included in the hire price. You will not regret choosing this venue that is for certain. A huge thank you to the whole team for making our day unforgettable!

We knew from our first viewing at this venue that it would be absolutely perfect for our special day! It has such character and you can decorate it as much or as little as you like as it juts oozes beauty naturally. We were kept updated throughout and they made it super easy to keep in touch. We had Lou look after us and she was incredible throughout! All the other members of the team that looked after us on the day were also amazing and couldn't do enough for us. The food was absolutely outstanding and we got so many compliments about it. We also made use of the mill house and the mill cottage which were done to incredible standards. We couldn't of asked for anything better and were so glad we chose the west mill!

We booked our wedding at the West Mills Venue, Derby on the 26th January and cancelled on the 27th February due to unforseen circumstances.
We were 9 days outside this heinous contract, of which we had to pay 25% of the overall venue hire. Which left us out of pocket over £3000. There is a 10 day cancellation policy. We feel there was lack of transparency by the provider about this. We had already paid a deposit £1500 and before we could even cancel we had to pay the full remainder of the cancellation percentage. Otherwise according to the policy we would have had to pay a total of £6000 plus to cancel a short period later.
Disappointed in the approach taken by the team. Understanding this is a business, there contract makes it incredibly profitable for cancellations. The majority of vendors come with an admin fee cancellation charge or a deposit lost cancellation charge. If another person books the same date you may see some of your money back but who knows if they would be transparent about this given their lack of help in other areas.
Proceed with extreme caution.

From our first visit to view The West Mill we both fell in love with the venue,perfect was the word we both used.
From the early stages to our Wedding day itself, the staff were absolutely brilliant in every way. Our ‘taster’ evening was fabulous & we were blown away by the standard of the food,so difficult to make our final food selections as it was all so beautiful, both in taste & presentation.
We had an amazing ( life saver) event manager in Jane,who just made everything so easy, eliminating any stress & worries we had,she guided us & made everything’perfect’.
Our entire Wedding day was amazing, the venue,staff, our dj & photographer ALL played a huge part in an unforgettable day, really words can’t explain just how brilliant the West Mill is.
The biggest Thank you for creating the most special of special days for us, I can’t imagine a better Wedding venue!

The team were fantastic throughout, with clear communication from the day of our first visit right up the big day itself where Shannon and the team took brilliant care of us and our guests and made sure the day went brilliantly.

We had loads of compliments from our guests about the venue both on the day and since.

The West Mill ticks all the boxes - so much space all to yourselves, excellent service before and during the wedding from all the staff, no corkage drinks, delicious food, beautiful setting and building and the staff decorate the spaces for you and tidy up your decor for collection. All of our guests were very impressed and it just added to a wholly incredible day.
